Hello! And thank you :D

Sianeka Apr 21, 2014

I'd love to have you join us as a Greeter in the A-P Welcoming Committee club. Here are some tips to help get you ready:

1. Create a Forum profile/ID. This is necessary so that you can create and receive private messages (PMs) on the site. These act as site-only emails between members.  Only members with a forum ID can use the PM system here. Forum registration is also required to post messages and replies to forum topic discussions.

Currently, the site and forum registrations are separate. There are plans to merge them in the future, but at this time you must register/create a separate Forum ID to post. Separate avatars and signatures also must be posted if you want them to show up in forum posts. (This can be done via the User CP link at the top of the profile page.) It is recommended to use the same Forum name as your Site name to help other members to find you in both places, and to help in the future when the two functions are merged.

2. Add an avatar to your profile page. While not strictly necessary, it helps other members identify with you, and recognize you more easily. (You can also create an avatar for your Forum registration, and it can be the same one you use here, or a different picture.)

If you need help with any of these steps, post a comment to me and I'll be glad to assist!

MORE ABOUT WECO GREETERS:

Having you become a Greeter would be most awesome!  but is entirely up to you - do not feel obligated! You do NOT (absolutely NOT) have to do greetings to be a Supporter in favor of the club!

Greeters are special folks, who promise to commit time and energy to welcoming new members. The requirements are: 1) that you greet your assigned members within 48 hours of being assigned them and 2) that you respond to any messages posted on your profile page by new members you've greeted.  Even if the message you got was only "Thank you for the greeting." (The club has " standard" responses you can use in various situations to assist you in responding back to them in case you are at a loss for words in any given situation.)

If you feel ready and willing to commit, I will add you as a Greeter and add your assignments to the daily Assignments document emailed each morning.

Because this is a club of volunteer members, each person's commitment level is whatever that person wants it to be.  The usual commitment is 10 people per day, but we have several Greeters that only greet 5 people per day, and one Greeter that only greets 5 people per day only on Fridays/Saturdays/Sundays.  You get to tell me what your schedule will accommodate - how many people on how many days.

Typical commitment to start is 5 or 10 greetings per day, which generally takes about 5-15 minutes of time. (Minimum commitment is 1 person 1 day a week.)  Greeter requirements are that you post a welcome greeting on your assigned new member(s) profile page on your assigned day(s), and then, if that person posts a comment back on YOUR profile page, you must answer their post to you.  (We have a list of resources to supply you with Greetings ideas and responses, as well as Answers to commonly asked questions.  I can also personally help if you get stuck, if you just send me a PM.)  You should do your assignments within 48 hours of getting the assignment.

So, if you feel like you can commit to greeting a certain amount of members assigned to you, and you agree to respond if they post a comment to your profile page, then you can become a Greeter!  Greeters help out the club a LOT!  I love having new members, and really truly love Club Supporters, but Greeters are the ones that do the work, so they are a special kind of person.

If you wanted to try becoming a Greeter, you'd need to commit to getting members assigned to you that you must greet, and must respond to if they post a comment on your profile page.  You can start off with a minimal number of assignments (you get to choose which day(s) works best for you) and then if it works out, you can add more member greetings if you want, or keep that minimum level of commitment, whatever works for you. The number of members you greet is flexible, and can be adjusted up or down as needed.

Time off: You can take time off whenever you want, but you need to let me know you are taking the time off, so that I can stop giving assignments to you for the time off period, and get other Greeters to cover your assignments.  Or if you find you missed doing an assignment, you can contact me to get the assigned names again to do makeup work, or let me know and I will do them instead.

It would be great to have you as a Greeter, but if you feel that making a commitment at this time is not a good idea, it would be best for you to stay as a Club Supporter.  I am really happy to have you in the club whichever way works best for you!

Just curious, I see you are watching Attack on Titan and am wondering what you think so far?

I have a friend who refuses to watch this after being freaked out by the first episode. Another friend who really liked it. I liked it because I thought it was really interesting but could've been done a bit better (pacing problems). However, it was a really memorable watch for me. I kept thinking about it for a while after I'd finished it and actually bumped up my rating because it turned up in my head so often afterwards.
