Anime in 200 Words: Kampfer
Premise: A guy turns into a magical girl to fight the bad magical girls. He is extremely popular with girls, regardless of which gender he is at the time. Add fan service.
Art: This is why I started watching the show: the art is gorgeous! Bright colors and crisp shading… just Google Natsuru to see what I mean.
Pop Culture: If you’re considering this show because MasakoX (of Team Four Star) made an abridged version of it, be warned: this is an ecchi show. The abridged series has no nudity, while Kampfer is oozing with fan service. Thought you should know.
Story: I actually enjoyed the plot because it took me a while to figure out what was really going on. It’s fairly predictable, but at least things aren’t quite as simple as they appear at first glance.
Audience: It’s ecchi, aimed at males. Well specifically, it’s the fusion of magical girl and harem with strong male fantasies (droves of lesbians, entering the secret world of a girls’ school, etc.).
Overall: Kampfer is 50% ecchi and 50% magical girl. Huge fans of either genre might not enjoy it, but those who like both probably would.
