Madlax was the first time i heard music by Yuki Kajiura. i would quickly notice Yuki Kajiura's music style afterwards because it is rather unique. it totally makes a big impact on the series. i have watched Madoka Magica and .hack//SIGN too. if you havent watched these, then check out Kara No Kyoukai and El Cazador de la Bruja.
i agree that Penguindrum can be considered a hidden gem, there is not much like it out there. and i do remember it to have above average production value too.
i have never thought of Rahxephon as a rip off of Evangelion. they may both be in same genre, but they are quite different to each other. there is another anime that is similiar to Rahxephon, M3: Sono Kuroki Hagane, but still it's quite different. by the way i found M3: Sono Kuroki Hagane to be rather average.
sure, i can give my opinion on Madlax and Penguindrum. it's not going to be like full in depth reviews, because i dont remember enough details.
it has been a whille since i watched Madlax though, and it was one of the early series i started with when getting into anime. but i remember finding it pretty decent, maybe it's up for a re-watch sometime. it has some pretty good back ground music by Yuki Kajiura.
with Penguindrum, i found the plot harder to get a grasp on than the average series, but that isnt really a bad thing. when things arent clear or easy to understand, i find myself think more about what actually is happening. i dont think i would call Penguindrum a masterpiece, but it was very decent.
Thanks! All the anime you requested for my lists have been added >w<b - and I'll be sure to try those anime out when I can.
I've added the anime you suggested for my list except for Mai-Hime and Mai-Otome - which I'll watch to clarify if they fit when I can. Thanks! >w<b
It's okay. We can have different opinions and that's what makes watching anime or other media interesting. I agree that Zombieland Saga has an interesting premise. I actually loved the first episode and was laughing for most of it, but after a couple of episodes I started to dislike the show more and more. It's not the worst out there, and I wouldn't put it on a "worst anime out there" kind of list. But since my list is also for shows that disappointed me in some way or didn't live up to the hype, I added it. Like I also stated in my notes on the list, I mostly added it for Kotaro since I found him to be one of the most annoying characters I've encountered. Had it not been for him I probably wouldn't have added it.
I just re-read what I wrote about fire force and I agree it was a bit harsh haha. I still stand by what I said though, because I really didn't like the story or characters at all. The animation was gorgeous, but as someone who enjoys deep character development and unexpected twists and turns this show wasn't my cup of tea. It seemed very generic and cliche in my opinion, but I understand how people might like it.
I can't comment much on Ergo Proxy unfortunately because I don't remember much from it. I generally love psychological works though so I'm sure I had a good reason not to like it. Still, the fact I can't remember what it was about anymore shows I didn't find it very enjoyable.
And I feel like I just have to comment about Paranoia Agent. You already know my opinion on it - I thought it was horseshit - but I've seen it praised by so many people. I'm sure some people would think I'm stupid for putting it on the list, and that just shows how different people think differently. Same with When They Cry. I saw it recommended to me everywhere before I decided to watch it. I like that everyone has their own opionion and that we can discuss them with each other. I'm sure you hate some of my favourite shows as well ^^
