I am a college student currently living in Oregon trying to inspire her inner writer.  I hope to go on to graduate school to become a librarian and fulfill my dream of growing up to be Yomiko Readman.

When I am not studying, I enjoy watching anime (given, yeah?), movies, listening to music, intelligent and not-so-intelligent conversation, and copious amounts of reading.  I love random comments and glomps as well. :)

Awww :[

What a jerk of your friend!

But I agree with FLCL. If you ever get a chance to watch Dead Leaves (Directed by the same guy as Gurenn Lagann, and reminiscent of FLCL) It is like taking FLCL, taking apart any specific character or plotline, upping the comedy 10 fold, adding more perverted dialogue, and a little more ridiculous explosions haha.

I see you must like Gurenn Lagann alot huh *pulls collar out and swallows*. I mean if you disagree with my review and want to like... kill me in my sleep, I was TOTALLY joking, I meant to give it an 11 out of 10.

:P

It's a love and hate for both of them.

Soul Eater was one of my favorite animes because of characters and dialogue. I also LOVE the Tim Burtonesque twisted camera angles. I think alot of people see all the cheesy elements of Soul Eater, and immediately say "CHEESY!" but I don't think the creators thought they were terribly creative when they used Werewolves and Witches. IT was supposed to be used material. The storyline being what it is, a slight halloween tradition feeling made is better to me at least :]

Gurenn Lagann started off as a strict comedy for me (I don't like mecha) and up until episode 17, I really enjoyed the series. I think the ending was mashed, too serious, and cheesy (good cheesy, but cheesy still). The episode where like 7 of the original characters are killed off pissed me off, Yoko losing both of her lovers pissed me off. Simon being so accepting of Nia's passing INFURIATED me, and Russiu backstabbing Simon immediately forgiving him irritated me. Regardless of why he did it, he still did. I don't think Simon's character was humble enough to let that pass. Also, the fact that the show pushed so hard that brain doesn't matter and the heart is what is most important irritates me. I consider myself a logical being, and seeing them push such a ridiculous idea of "try as hard as you can and you will succeed" infuriated me. Perhaps it's the cynic in me?

All of that aside, I couldn't put the show down, and finished the entire series in 2 days :P. Thank you Hulu. Kimina was SERIOUSLY a wonderful protaganist; the best I've seen in awhile, and even though he did pass away early on, I think it was a good decision.

I also LOVED that Simon started off as a child, and actually had fear for a good part of the first episodes. Nothing pisses me off more then a child who miraculously becomes super powerful after one traumatic moment.

(I say pissed alot, but I just over-exaggerate :p)

I liked Soul-Eater more, but I did enjoy both of them. They were fun. It's nice to watch an anime that isn't completely serious the entire time, and I love a good screwball comedy. FLCL and Dead Leaves being 2 of my favorites :D

(I posted a review on Gurenn Lagann if my probably obnoxiously long explanation didn't do it justice :])

On most websites, I hear stuff about how the ending completely ruined the series as a whole, and that's just unfair. The last few episodes were a little messy, sure, but not enough so to drop the integrity of the entire series! :p

Seeing as how you liked it so much, I can only IGNORANTLY assume that you are awesome, and the rest of the people out there are idiots. :]

Go us.

I really enjoyed your review of Last Exile. I thought it was such a phenomenal show, and most reviews I hear don't do it justice :]
