What starts out as one of the better "isekai" mangas out there, slowly turns repetitive and what could have been a great manga turns in to a "more of the same"story, with constant rinse and repeat of the same threads. Whilst those problems wouldn't be a deal breaker for me in and of themselves, coupled with the fact that there's no real supporting cast so far, I found it difficult to hold interest. There's other problems, like the complete lack of relevance of any of the stats presented, why even bother with showing any of that, if the stats themselves hold little relevance in combat ?... I don't even know where to start on this one, there are a lot of sports manga and quite a few about football (soccer for those in the US ) but its rare that I stumble upon such a gem. Went into this one with a fair amount of scepticism, from the beginning seeing how much they hyped Tatsumi it seemed like he'd just come in and win game after game with the occasional drama needed here and there, the first practice match only served to reinforce that feeling, oh boy ... was I wrong, its really refreshing to see how much of a realistic approach the author took, it takes time to build a team, effort and... I've been thinking about doing a review for this manga for a very long time and the more I postponed it the smaller the grade became, I have a kind of love/hate relationship with this manga and being the series that got me in to anime and manga it is a bit more personal I'd say, well I've read/watched DBZ before it and some others but I wasn't very familiar with the whole manga/anime thing, in fact I don't think I even knew what the were, but I was small back then and well that's enough about me, let's get on with the manga.
The first part of the manga was really great, in fact if I was going to... See full review
You know, it's pretty weird how lately I only come upon manga like this one, it starts off nice, seems like it might be interesting but halfway through it everything just goes down the shitter.
Break Hands is no exception to my current predicament, everything was fine, it really did seem like it had potential and even though it wouldn't have been a great manga it could have been ok, nothing spectacular or amazingly original but a nice read to enjoy when waiting for my favorite mangas to get new chapters, however it all went to hell in the second half of the manga since it apparently was rushed... Well this is going to be hard, this manga to me was looking like it had potential to be one of those special ones that would set the benchmark for me when it comes to this type of realistic fighting manga, but recent chapters have really started to make me doubt that, and by recent I mean the last 2 or so volumes (I'm at volume 11 atm), it just seems like the author recycles the same thing every new arc and it is getting a bit boring and frustrating really.
The characters are good for the most part, I like the psychological side of the manga with very realistic personalities and problems... See full review
Well this is sort of a rollercoaster ride, the manga starts great, then it has a bit of a .. well, not bad but worse period and after that it becomes an awesome manga again and just when you think this is going to be amazingly great .. enter farmland, now I understand that character development is important and that you need something like this, but for a manga that is very combat oriented with a norse/viking theme going to life on the farm for 10 chapters now, it's a bit too much, it's slow and annoying at this point and from the way it is going it will probably last for at least another 4-5 chapters (...
