Model

Dec 6, 2009

Model came out just as the large vampire trend was beginning. And I do believe those who are interested in romance/vampire series could find this enjoyable. I, however, do not find the genre interesting and found this a chore to read. The romance plot was a bit too cliché and therefore boring, although the additons of some extra supernatural characters did help.

Story

Model is about a young girl, Jae, whos roommate brings home an unconscious man. During the night the weak man, Micheal, reveals himself as a vampire as he drinks Jae's blood before passing out. As her own personal revenge she decides to draw him (she's an artist), plus she is drawn to his beauty. In the morning, they end up making a deal: Jae will live at his place and paint him, at the cost of some of her blood. Also living at Micheal's mansion is Ken (his son), and the maid Eva.

Jae is trying to piece together the pasts and present of the people living with her. Ken and Micheal both seem to like Jae, so obviously love triangle (no surprise there!).

The plot itself was pretty boring and extremely slow; maybe it's because I'm not a huge fan of romance. I wouldn't bring myself to become interested in the plot. I actually don't even remember what happened after the first volume.

Art

I also didn't like the artwork very much. I kept mixing up characters because a few look the same. And the lack of backgrounds made the pages look plain.

Overall

I didn't enjoy the series. I actually got it third hand after the first volume was passed around between my friends because it sucked so much. No one wanted to keep it. However, I did enjoy some of the smexy vampire scenes (only part worth reading). I would recommend it only to vampire or romance fans. And by vampire fans, I'm referring to Twilight fans, not Hellsing fans ;)

Note: To those who keep asking me where to read it online, don't bother :p I don't think anyone has uploaded it online. I own the physical copies, and it's now out of print.

5/10 story
5/10 art
5/10 characters
4/10 overall
