I don't disagree with you, code geass and a good portion of the fullmetal alchemist series are up there with evangelion. They are top notch, great anime! I wouldnt dare call those second rate! I haven't had the pleasure of watching any To Aru, but I'm guessing you would recommend it? I'll maybe give it a try sometime soon. ;) I can clearly see that we have very different  taste in anime, so I'll let the evangelion debate go. Actually, I was hoping we could be friends. :) I think it would be a good opportunity to expand my horizons a bit and try some new anime that I wouldn't normally watch. So if you want to, feel free to recommend me some anime/ manga and I'll try to do the same for you.

Well whether you like it or not, Evangelion is one of the most highly acclaimed anime series that has ever been made and will continue to be the measuring stick for all sci-fi series that come after it.

Earlier, I took a look at your anime list and saw that you ranked Guilty Crown a 5/5. I find this really surprising, since many anime fans consider GC to be ripped off of Evangelion and other Sci-fi shows. Could you explain why you loved Guilty Crown and not Eva? If you ask me, Guilty Crown is very average in comparison.

I can completly agree with you on that anime with to much fan service when their shouldn't be, but going in to an anime with little sisters, haha your asking for it and shouldn't judge so harsh on something so predictable. I feel that some shows base on fan service 1st, then worry about story, then the anime with great stories, but the service is not needed. A few shows I would want to show my family or friends, but I'd feel awkward to recommend a show with a panty flash or so on. That being said if fan service shows disapated altogether (which they won't) I would feel the need for a little show show.

Thanks for taking the time to write out such a wordy response! How much time did that take you? Well anyway, your comment is basically the entire reason why I felt moved to write my own comment on that review. Your second paragraph suggested to me that you didn't really get much from your first watch. I don't really blame you, because I pretty much got the same experience from Evangelion after my first time watching it. I thought it was average at best! Maybe I just wasn't in the right mindset to enjoy it at the time. That all changed after I watched it again with a good friend of mine. He was a huge fan and was rather disappointed that I didn't get as much from it as he did. To make a long story short, the second time was amazing in comparison to the first. I noticed things I didn't before, and the plot started to come together, to my surprise. It was a most satsifying experience! Since then, I have watched it at least two more times, and love it more and more each time I watch. Evangelion, when you get down to the bare bones of it, is a character driven show. It is not about good versus evil, it is not about saving the world, and there is no clear good guy or bad guy. IT IS about a cast of psychologically broken characters who do or don't manage to learn to live with themselves and the people around them. Yes, it does have flashy mech battles, comedy, and romance thrown in, but it is SOOO MUCH MORE than that. Evangelion really summarizes what it means to be a living human being. The insecurities, the loneliness, the pain, and the eventual joy you can get from interacting with people who you like. Wow! I can't believe my comment is this long! Almost as long as yours. ;) Well, anyway my intention was not to argue with you, but to try to encourage you. I enjoyed the experience so much that I want to pass the same thing on to you. I sincerely don't want you to miss out on it!
