How can a story have so many things I question and be enjoyable? A Polar Bear in Love (Web)

Jan 18, 2022

Misunderstandings due to different points of view. One is in love. One is afraid. One wants to stay together, the other wants to flee. One doesn't care the other is male, the other one does. These fluffy white Northern creatures are an unlikely match but it totally works. The animated animal actions are adorable. This is definitely worth watching if you are looking for some sweetness.

Fake

Sep 30, 2020

Oh how the combined story elements appear to compliment each other and then the execution fails to deliver. Sad. So sad really. Loveless

Sep 13, 2020

What is love? How do I find it? How do I give it? How can I keep it? Is there a way to reject love without being a jerk? How do I make memories with those I love? What about with the one I love the most? What’s the best way to express my feelings? Can I deserve another’s love? How do I understand my feelings? This anime explores different forms of love with a heavy emphasis on unrequited and misunderstandings of love. What one person feels for another may be romantic, friendly, and/or familial. How the other person feels doesn’t always match and these 12 episodes take an honest and... See full review

Cells at Work! The Common Cold

Jul 27, 2020

37.2 trillion cells have returned to “work for you”. This time, well their fighting the common cold, a seasonal virus with a penchant for mischievous pranks. Killer T Cells are on the hunt for the virus, unlucky for them the pathogen has found an uninformed assistance who aids their escape prank after prank. 23ish minutes of jokester antics aimed at getting the audience laughing and for this reviewer it achieved its goal. Jumping

Jul 1, 2020

Set POV takes the viewer on a journey through unrelenting physical prowess A.K.A jumping. Continuous jumping. Yep if ever there has been a more fitting title this typer doesn't know. (Well yeah I can actually think of at least five though I won’t get into them.) Camera decision has me a bit concerned, I can definitely see the benefit of the choice, especially in the last few seconds. The way the short is put together to end where it begins and begin where it ends is nicely nonverbally narrated by the ups and downs of the eye. The connection to the viewer is not lost on anyone paying even 35% to the... See full review

Mobile Suit Gundam-san

Jun 20, 2020

This was created by crude people for crude people From bickering parents, an absent father to animal abuse and an abusive animal these 13 episodes are meant to make those with an iota of intelligence slap themselves. The characters from beloved shows are disgraced by their obsessions with skirts, panties, jiggling mammary glands, scantily clad women and abusing partners verbally and physically. As a whole this anime is a hateom {a fandom for those who want to abuse characters). There isn't a thing in these 13 episodes that promotes any of the titles the characters originate in or the space / mobile... See full review

Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun Specials

Jun 13, 2020

Nozaki-kun is back and the characters have been chibi-fied, at least for the intro and outro. 6 episodes broken into two parts yet best played as a chunk. The first 3 episodes focus on torturing Waka. If you remember from the series Waka saw Seo and Kashima together at the festival, well the Special starts where that left off. Waka’s confusion is amplified by the lack of concern the other characters have for his question. They’re so wrapped up in their own heads they really don’t understand what Waka wants because no one is really paying attention to what he says. Also these ... See full review

Tight-rope

Mar 30, 2020

Two people. One love. Psych. Childhood friends become lovers. Semi-psych. All right, so what actually happens in this anime? Well two teens attempt to balance their feelings with familial expectations. One from a yakuza family and one associated with the gang {sort of like second cousins}. The journey/result: basically a way to spend about an hour.  What really hurts the senses: Scenes that feature serious injuries quickly become a springboard for comedic injuries. In a fight an opponent can use a gun, shoot one of the "good guys"get pounded on for pulling the trigger and then... See full review

For those familiar with the Gingerbread-man, Kogepan appears to be either an interpretation of the fairy tale or a straight up rip-off without a song of his own. For 10 episodes a narrator informs those who’ve stumbled upon this anime various events in Kogepan’s life. Wild 7

Feb 5, 2020

Criminals think they have the system figured out until a group of people who play by their own rules appear. Anime addresses the ethics of killing:  Whose acceptable to kill?  Is letting murders murder lawful when the murdered is/are a criminal/s?  What’s the difference between sending a team to take down criminals who are bound for the electric chair or gas chamber? Property damage means little to the team, when they’ve got a target they hunt w/no remorse. The injury and death of bystanders however does matter to at least one of them. An impenetrable building is nothing to... See full review

A young man harboring a crush on one of the pervs daughters is disgusted and tells him off.  A group cries while a man is beaten and his girl violated. No one attempt intervention.  Frequent compositional mixing 2D and 3D.  Ending where we began or if you prefer there was no beginning so there is no end. -- Basically not a great way to spend your time. Tamala 2010: A Punk Cat in Space

Dec 28, 2019

Cats live in loneliness and die like rain. It’s in this cruel reality that Tamala, a young feline,  dreams of a better world. Oh how inept this description is. From the synopsis potential viewers would think this is a tale about finding a better world. Disappointment and scares await instead. This anime is just creepy. It gets a kick out of dishing out big-eyed anthropomorphized cloth-wearing quadrupeds and then bombarding the viewer with vulgarities. Gruesome images of cats being tortured and killed will be seared into your memory. As will the scene with a bird pecking a human's eye. If... See full review

Love. Friendship. Heartache. Resolve. Memories. Faith. Bonds. Promises. Miracles. Magic. Yeah this music video contains all of that and more. Two school girls spend their time together. Stuff happens, secrets are revealed, requests are made, and human growth emerges.  Separate but together their story continues. The resolution - while relatively short - is somewhat satisfying. Two people have a connection that cannot be severed. The overall messages come through clearly and touch this reviewer's soul. Right before the proficiency test is when concern about the basketball team's grades take center stage. Entire plot for this OVA. Yep seriously. Kagami is so intellectually challenged that he doesn't know he can't stay on the team if he fails a test. The captain enlists the help of their team to cram as much knowledge as possible into Kagami's thick head. First up is Science and last is English. Chidori RSC: Nationals Are Right Before Us

Dec 18, 2019

This anime made an admirable attempt at spicing up a typical recap episode.  There’s more commentary than usual. A quick introduction to the characters, their objective, and their goal is provided. The timing is quick and efficient moving from a struggling club, suspended club, recruiting members, and acquiring an advisor. Their progression towards Nationals may have been bumpy but they’re still on the journey. This rifle shooting club is suiting up, taking aim, and double checking their trajectory. The character commentary lets those unfamiliar with the sport learn the parameters... See full review

Muromi-san

Dec 18, 2019

I’m unsure of the target audience for this anime since it tends to be uncertain itself: Repetitive removals of mermaid chest covering.  Requiring a legendary creature to attach a false tail because it feeds and alien’s perversion.  Animal cruelty is supported.  Non-alcoholic beer is promoted as healthy.  Mermaid with a hangover.  Alcohol is cheaper than water. Talk of destroying humans as a gift to the world.  Obsession with cucumbers. It’s an anime that aims to be crazy and over the top with random stuff and a main female character that's entire... The whole careful who you accept drugs from caution tale amps up in season 2.  Rena and Ooga’s relationship is going along swimmingly until things get rocky in the form of another NEET. Que Kaizaki’s life experience advice.  Contemplating being involved with classmates [class photo, becoming friends, going on a date, ect.] when memories will be erased remains consistent.  The fixation on adult in teen body fearing they're crushing on a teen also gets more focus and becomes something the audience should probably be concerned about as well.  A love confession early...
