The main female character in both these anime’s love what they do, delight in caring for others, and strive to do more each day. They encounter their respective main male characters and a friendship/subtle courtship begins. Both main male characters are from prestigious breeding and are coerced by their families into marriage meetings with wellbreed ladies, encounters that are not well received by either M.M.C. Societal expectations are present in both anime: every character is aware of the issues of pursuing any relationship past acquaintance with anyone outside their class. Both animes have a mature romance that progresses throughout the episodes but lovey-dovey feelings are not the main focus. The titles of both anime are apt in their representation of the female protagonist: there is more to the F.M.C’s than their love-lives. Employment means more than money, more than something to do with idle hands, and more than a job. The F.M.C.’s are hardworking, dedicated, innovative, and more than content with their day to day activities. Of course once they meet that certain someone their thoughts do start to wander in areas they had not considered before. While both F.M.C’s have had offers/orders from men it is only once the one enters their life and professes his affection that these women begin to think about romantic love. Insulting the lowly born characters is a staple of more than one high and mighty character in these anime and defending a friend by physically shielding them does not guarantee the insultee will not be harmed.

Natural talent, tenacity, innate abilities, lack of care for physical harm, teamwork, individual skills, hands-on-learning, a goal to shoot for. All these things are present in both Haikyuu!! and Naruto. Both anime start with a male main character who wants to be great at their respective dream {hokage/volleyball}. Both m.c’s have a confrontation with another they view as their rival and become reluctant teammates. Physicality is a factor in the dislike of these rivals as is personality. Main protagonists have seemingly endless energy and give their all to reach their dream. Academics are an obstacle for the m.c’s and more than once impede their progress.

People are being haunted by things they cannot see, some believe in the supernatural but cannot see what is causing the disruptions in their lives while others are adamant that the issues are accidental occurrences. Main character in both animes offers a service few can and the number of people in need never really decreases. There is always more to do, aiding one person {or family) just means there is another down the street, in the next village or a friend that has need of the M.C.s specialized service. Both animes are episodic yet there is continuity running through the show.

An older character shares their life story and how they became the person they are. The past is not always pleasant and reliving the trauma can cause distress in the present. Both animes show the impact and devastation moments have and how shattered a person can become when they do things they should not, when they trust people they should not have, when they put their desires above their morals.

Pokemon

Pokemon and Digimon Tamers contain similar ingreidients. 3 kids {two guys and 1 girl}, monster creature partners, battles, baddies and an ultimate goal. The majority of both shows focuses on the relationship among the trio, their monster creatures and getting stronger in battles. Not everyone gets along in the beginning but as the episodes progress the trios become friends and make friends with other humans and other monster creatures.  Monster creatures protect their human friends by battleing, leveling up and evolving into stronger creatures with different abilites more suited to the battle/situation. One of the main differences is that the trio in Pokemon travel around to different regions in the same world, find battle and capture creatures native to those lands. The monster creatures in Digimon Tamers are from the Digital World, the trio sticks to one main monster creature pal and do not seek out others for capture. Another difference is that there are other human characters in Digimon Tamers that are not irrregular or as superfluous as in Pokemon. They have more influence on the plot, screen time, and broaden the trio to a larger group. {the sequel versions of Pokemon do add other m.c.s and some human characters do reappear but for the inclusion of the 276 eps of the original Tamers triumps in the human department}.
