My opinions on code geass fluctuate like asian country temperatures, somedays I call it a masterpiece, somedays I call it irrepairable dogshit.

That's not the same thing though, the blue lock cast's egotism makes sense. And it's not as if all of them have the same smarmy smug attitude, they all have different personalities. Their arrogance is more like confidence and it doesn't define them. Plus it's in a situation where it's best used, and fits the whole philosophy of the show. That competitiveness, where your success is only enhanced by self-assuredness. Sure a few characters fit that bill of arrogance like nagi is a less smug, more boring version of it, but the rest are fine with me.
Characters like Gojo have no reason to be arrogant and smug, it doesn't serve a purpose narratively or functionally, it just makes them annoying, stupid, and concieted. Other characters in the same vein are karma from assassination classroom, gilgamesh from fate zero, izaya orihara from durarara. all characters i hate. these characters are full of themselves and smug because they think it's a personality.
I hope that explains where i'm coming from a bit better on that.

Funny, I too hve the creativity of a 90 year old. Which is why it took me like a year to finish that Bio. :D
