Anime Bancho is a YouTube channel that contains original content from CoMix Wave Inc, subtitled into multiple languages.

BL (short for Boys' Love) is a genre that depicts homosexual relationships between men. BL is the predominant term in Japan. In the West, the term Shounen-ai categorizes romantic stories that focus on emotional aspects of relationships, while Yaoi categorizes more of the sexual aspects such as Smut or explicit content.

These anime feature Siblings with a Brother Complex: they want nothing more than to ensure the well-being and happiness of their beloved brother, often to an unhealthy or even romantic degree. They're known to be over-protective and jealous of their brother's suitors.

Chibi is Japanese slang for someone small and cute. In Western anime fandom, the term is used to describe characters who are "super deformed", usually with giant heads and tiny bodies for comedic effect. In these anime, several or all of the characters frequently appear in a Chibi state.

Unlike Gender Bender titles where a character undergoes a complete physical sex change, these anime showcase characters who crossdress for a secretive reason, whether it's to attend a single-sex school or to acquire a job targeted at a specific gender. The secretive, crossdressing element must be the focus of these anime to receive the tag.

Constant panty shots, bouncing breasts and dubious camera angles are hallmarks of an Ecchi title. These titles are usually sexualized and designed to titillate, depicting perverted themes and focusing heavily on the female body. Nosebleeds, suspicious hand positions, faceplanting into bosoms, expressive and exaggerated body parts and other tropes characterize this genre. Ecchi is all about fanservice, while Borderline H and Smut titles focus more on sexual content.

Episodic anime are a collection of separate stories loosely connected by a theme or one or more central recurring characters.

These anime feature protagonists that are partially or fully based on food or ingredients. The characters can appear in normal, anthropomorphic or fantastical forms, for example, the creatures in Dogtato-kun are food-based representations of normal animals.

These anime feature Fudanshi (腐男子). Translated as "rotten boy", the term describes men who are obsessed with men in homosexual relationships. Their preferred fiction is anything to do with Yaoi or Boys' Love (BL).

These anime feature Fujoshi (腐女子). Translated as "rotten girl", the term describes women who are obsessed with men in homosexual relationships. Their preferred fiction is anything to do with Yaoi or Boys' Love (BL).

A character in these anime undergoes a complete or partial physical sex change, whether due to environmental aspects, an enchanted item, a wish that's been granted or a number of other factors. Depending on the situation, the character might be stuck in their new body, or changed back automatically at some point, or have the ability to change back and forth at will. If a man and woman suddenly share the same body, the Gender Bender tag applies as well.

GL (short for Girls' Love) is a genre that depicts homosexual relationships between women. On Anime-Planet, Shoujo-ai categorizes romantic stories that focus on emotional aspects of relationships, while Yuri categorizes more of the sexual aspects such as Borderline H or explicit content.

Gynophobia is defined as an irrational fear of women. In these anime, characters with the disorder have extreme reactions to the women in their lives, from panicking to having an intense allergic reaction to anything in between.

A harem includes three or more characters who potentially show romantic interest in a male protagonist. The sex, gender, or orientation of the harem members is irrelevant as long as they exclusively, or at least primarily, are vying for the affections of the same individual - who may or may not reciprocate towards one, several, or none of these romantic rivals.

Incest is defined as romantic or sexual relations between people classified as being too closely related to marry each other. On Anime-Planet, we apply this tag when: 1) the characters are related by blood, or 2) the characters are related through adoption or marriage and have a long history together. If characters have just met through marriage and develop a romantic relationship, even if the taboo aspect is discussed, we do not apply this tag.

Iyashikei (癒し系) is a sub-genre of Slice of Life anime that is designed to have a "healing" effect on the viewer. Iyashikei anime are typically Episodic, have little to no conflict, and showcase the characters' peaceful lives. These titles often take place in the peaceful Countryside, but can occur in a variety of other locations such as a home, workplace, or school. Common features include mellow atmospheres, soothing soundtracks, and gorgeous background art.

These anime have an LGBT theme as a strong focus. Examples include gender or gender identity themes; an LGBT relationship as a primary focus; or an LGBT character as a protagonist, especially if their gender or sexual orientation is showcased as a back story or plot point. Read more about how we tag LBGT-related content on Anime-Planet.

These anime focus on a relationship - platonic or romantic - between a master and a servant. Sometimes these relationships are traditional, such as the interactions between a Maid or Butler with the master of the house. Comedy and Fantasy titles sometimes showcase this relationship in a different capacity, featuring a magic user with a human 'familiar' or 'pet' as a designated servant.

Characters in these Action-packed titles are faced with a revolving door of challengers or enemies, battling a new foe on a regular basis before the next appears. Typically these anime showcase a new Monster or villain each week, but sometimes fights can last for several episodes.

Picture Dramas are stories told using a sequence of still drawings with voiceovers. They sometimes include brief animation or camera panning, and are frequently included on DVD releases for anime series.

In these anime, protagonists use and control creatures, robots or other beings to fight on their behalf.

These anime feature rakugo (落語), a type of traditional Japanese storytelling. They may feature characters who are rakugo storytellers, or adapt classic rakugo stories.

In these titles, a character or narrator recaps the events of part or all of a series. Recaps are typically movies (anime) or specials, and sometimes have new animation or artwork that showcases the characters doing the narration.

A reverse harem includes three or more characters who potentially show romantic interest in a female protagonist. The sex, gender, or orientation of the harem members is irrelevant as long as they exclusively, or at least primarily, are vying for the affections of the same individual - who may or may not reciprocate towards one, several, or none of these romantic rivals.

These anime feature characters created by Sanrio, a company that creates adorable Japanese products and franchises. Famous examples include Hello Kitty, Gudetama, and Keroppi.
