I reccommend the anime over the maga, at least from what I've seen,

The manga begins at what looks to be the end of the anime, and works back to the beginning but the anime works from the story's technical beginning and I just reccommend watching the anime and then the manga.

In terms of the quality of the anime I can't reccommend it enough- the music is great and the animation for when the characters in the witches' labrynths is fantastic-looking
