(I've watched this movie multiple times. It's hard for me to read fan reviews on shows that I have not watched because of the spoilers.) I wasn't really confused about the bad apple part, that plot device tend to occur frequently. Some Stuido Ghibli movies (licensed by Disney) share that motif where the story needs an ultimate good character and an ultimate bad character.
The thing that confused me was: "And sometimes beautiful encouners only stay as just an encounter in our memories."
Thank you for the carification, you didn't mean that their encounter ment nothing, for example greeting a stranger and then forgetting about them in a few days.
You meant that their encounter will never be forgotten by Arrietty nor Shawn (Sho). However, that their encounter will not repeat itself a "goodbye forever" kind of moment. Did I assume that correctly?
