Yeah, I stopped watching Major after series 3 when he decides he can win the game himself and the others only have to show up.

If you watch Cross Game or Ookiku Furikabutte, they both have more team play. Ookiku Furikabutte has probably the largest emphasis on team work, but it may go a bit too far with it and the main character becomes just another player. Cross game on the other hand has the best from both worlds. The main character is the star of the game, but others play a bigger role in it.

Yeah I agree that Goro is all about the spirit, but the reason I dislike him is because he basically plays alone. The other players are just backup. And in a game like baseball that is supposed to be all about teamplay, I found his attitude annoying.

I do like sports animes occasionally because of the thrills, but I prefer something with decent character development. Hikaru no Go is still one of my favorites even though I still don't know how to play Go. Hajime no Ippo had great moments, but nothing really beyond the boxing. In baseball, I prefer Cross Game above Major, mainly because the character in Major is somewhat of an egotistical asshole.

Actually now that I think about it, the main characters in the 3 baseball animes that I have seen are:

  • Major series, the main character has way too big of an ego
  • Cross Game, the main character is neither too egotistical or too wimpy
  • Ookiku Furikabutte, the main character is way too wimpy

I guess I prefer middle course.

Can't complain. Just finished watching Beelzebub and althought it ended quite abruptly, it was a good and funny 60 episodes.

I decided to take a little break from OP to allow the number of episodes to build up, because I got irritated waiting a week between each episode. The last episode I watched was the one where they woke up on Fishman Island.

But I'll probably be watching the second season of Bakuman next, since it finally got finished. Also Another seems like something I would be interested in, so I'll maybe take a look at that.

Thanks for the comment on the review I made for Toradora. I completely agree that sticking to too few series will get boring fast, however, if you've looked at my watched list (nearly 400 series watched) and looked at my top 25 list, a series like Toradora won't pop up very often. If the series was a normal 12-13 episode series strictly, I would have finished it. However, due to it being 2 seasons long, it over-produced itself and used the same type of humor throughout it.

When I get tired of a series I'm halfway though, I don't care about spoilers anymore and ask around about it to see if I'd still be interested so I already know what happens in the end :D
