Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? III

Dec 18, 2020

This is one of my favourite franchises, and it's another season that left me with mixed feelings. The story itself is great but the director made another couple of problematic choices that just ended up with a rather flat execution. The show really struggled to covert the emotions from the page to the screen and leaving you rather confused by certain interactions. Bell bumps into a little monster girl deep down in the dungeons that doesn't react like any of the previous monster's he's encountered. The monster is scared and Bell feels the need to take care of her. Bell learns that there are more monsters... See full review

Monster Girl Doctor

Oct 26, 2020

When monster girls get sick, what do you do? That's right, you call Doctor Glenn! The only human male doctor in the world who is capable of treating any disease or bodily discomfort that would affect monster girls. Accompanied by his slithering and rather jealous assistant Saphentite, the two travel from city to city, touch as many monster girls' hearts (and boobs) out there as possible.  Let's be honest here, it's not that great of a show. A girl gets sick, doctor Glenn sticks his fingers in the patient for a few awkward moans, the patient get better, falls in love with... See full review

Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend Fine

Oct 11, 2020

A pretty solid conclusion to one of the best waifu-war shows out there.  The story continues where the previous season left off. Akane hired Eiriri and Utaha to work on a big project while Tomoya's little circle tries to work on their own project with the help of Izumi. Tomoya finds himself in a difficult spot due to an incident regarding Akane but it helps the cast to work towards the future. The girls are, as always, absolutely amazing and you want to cheer for every single one of them but, just like with most interactive visual novel stories, you have to make some tough choices and stick... Appare-Ranman!

Oct 9, 2020

The show starts out as Wacky Races (a tv-series that was broadcasted in 1968 including the goofy characters and cars) but the direction of the story starts to change a couple of episodes in. It was a change that I didn't expect but one that I really enjoyed. There are a few moments that feel a little too dark for the show but I guess it's to make the viewer aware that we're not watching the race portion of the show anymore. Appare-Ranman!has a very colourful and unique look to it, the animations aren't bad either which originally made me think that the production might have been a little too good for a... Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!

Oct 5, 2020

Shinichi is a simple guy and just wants to do things on his own but Hana is a little troublemaker who simply can't leave Shinichi alone. As much as Shinichi complaints about Hana, he does start to appreciate her more. As the series progresses, we do learn more about how their relationship came what it is. I guess the main focus of the show is to explore the relationship between Shinichi and Hana. How long will it take before they start confessing to each other? There is some funny banter between the characters with quite a few cool moments but there is also a fair bit of screaming and... See full review

Peter Grill and the Philosopher's Time

Oct 5, 2020

Simplified version: Just simply follow your dick. A bunch of girls (orc, ogres, elf) just wanting to get dicked down by a guy who is considered an incredibly strong hero. Why so straight forward? Well, they want to collect his sperm, there really isn't anything else to it. The hero himself isn't too keen when the girls aren't around because he's in love with a princess but when some of these girls start to shake their booty and boobs he just can't say no. The idea isn't too bad but the execution is just extremely poor, mainly the story and the consistency in its art style. If you want to watch something... See full review

My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU Climax

Oct 3, 2020

For a lot of people, Oregairu is one of their favourite rom-com series and the general opinion seemed that season 3 didn't deliver the ending they were hoping for. There is a strong feeling that season 3 just didn't have the same cheeky dialogue that the other 2 seasons had. I feel that you'll experience season 3 differently based on how you read the room. If you're expecting a full out battle between girls fighting over the affection of the main character, Hikki, than I feel you're not going to be enjoying this season but if you're going into this season with the understanding that the show... Rent-A-Girlfriend

Sep 27, 2020

Imagine a writer who has a few roles in mind for an upcoming show but gives the characters themselves an opportunity to write their own backstory. They've been given a week to come up with ideas and to do the necessary research. It's a really hot summer and instead of doing the required research, most of the characters decide to go to the beach together to just have a good time. One character, Mizuhara, decides to not hang out with the rest of the cast during that week and actually puts together a dramatic but well thought out backstory. Since nobody, but Mizuhara, took the time to work on their... See full review

Deca-Dence

Sep 25, 2020

Deca-Dence really surprised me. The story and animation style really reminded me of a Studio Trigger production, a studio that gave us classics like Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill and Little Witch Academia. Extremely colourful characters, some extremely slick animations and a really intriguing concept. The closest thing, without spoiling the show itself, is comparing it to a movie like the Matrix. It's one of those shows that makes you ask the 'but what if' questions. I do wish the show had taken a little bit more time for its ending. The last episode just felt that it would have been... See full review

ORESUKI: Are you the only one who loves me? Ore-tachi no Game Set

Sep 3, 2020

An hour-long OVA with the same issues the main series has but it is made worse by now having two characters that are trying to play an evil genius. One evil genius that thought he was clever but never really was is a nuisance but now having two of those type of characters just really didn't do this series any good. One of the strengths of the show is the character designs. The characters still look fab but as cool as the characters look, their personalities really don't matter in this OVA.  The reason the evil genius trope really doesn't work in this show is that the rest of the cast just feels... Goblin Slayer: Goblin's Crown

Jul 30, 2020

The first part of the movie is a recap of the first season, told from the priestess's perspective. It shows the priestess at her weakest and how she becomes a dependable ally for the Goblin Slayer. The whole reason the first part of the movie is added is to make the viewer aware that the new girl and the priestess share a similar fate and how the priestess is trying to help the girl to overcome her demons. The second part of the movie is basically just a revenge story. The Goblin Slayer and his party accept a quest to find a girl that went missing during her own goblin slaying... See full review

Kaguya-sama: Love Is War?

Jun 29, 2020

The first season of 'Kaguya-sama: Love Is War' were basically short skits about a game of chicken which wasn't something I was a huge fan of. The second season offers a bit more variety. A lot of people were expecting the same style of humor but I feel the show is maturing, something I can really appreciate. There is a more serious tone this season, a bit more focus on life outside of the student council. Both Shirogane and Kaguya have been humanized a bit more, Chika doesn't get shoved down your throat as much as the first season, Ishigami gets the development he deserves and we're... Gleipnir

Jun 29, 2020

To keep it really simple, Gleipnir is a show that has a lot in common with shows like Future Diary and the Big Order. There will be a lot of censored nudity, some awkward sexual abuse, a crazy psycho girl (Claire) that's dragging the weak & indecisive main protagonist (Shuichi) through the story, and a bunch of goofy-looking supernatural monsters fighting each other to the death over coins that will grant wishes when returned to an alien who crashlanded on the planet and lost all his buddies. The show does have some good moments but all of these are related to the backstory... See full review

Tower of God

Jun 26, 2020

The show was introduced to me with a lot of hype due to its young author and it is the first webtoon Manhwa (Korean manga) to get an anime addition. Did it live up to the hype?  The concept is that people are summoned to the tower, have to try and reach the top by participating in all sorts of different tests. In one test they might require to kill other participants and in the follow-up test, they might be required to work together with the people they tried to kill in the previous test. Each floor of the tower has different tests and are monitored by a floor administrator.  There is... See full review

Sing "Yesterday" for Me Extra

Jun 22, 2020

Sing "Yesterday" for Me wasn't a bad show but the overall tone wasn't really that upbeat. These 6 short extra scenes are filled with a more positive tone to it which is probably why they weren't included. Watching these little scenes after finishing the main series did make me feel a bit more positive about the main show itself. It's that extra bit of seasoning to make everything just taste a little bit better.

Sing "Yesterday" for Me

Jun 22, 2020

I want to get one thing out of the way before diving a bit more into its plot which is that this show isn't really a show about romance. It will feel like a love triangle, it'll deal with a romantic situation but it's really about people who feel stuck in place and are trying to figure out how to move on. The illusion is created that there is a competition when that's never really the goal of the show. It's like you see a cake but it's actually a pie but because it looks like a cake you'll think that it's a cake. The show will leave you feeling rather annoyed at times since you hope that characters will... See full review

Kakushigoto

Jun 22, 2020

I really enjoyed watching Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei but the show had moments where it went a little too deep in Japanese culture, resulting in jokes that I just couldn't relate to. A lot of it was still fun and goofy but I always wished that there was a bit more focus on the cast, the characters had tons of personality but it was obvious that they didn't always suit the narrative.  Kakushigoto and Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei have a lot in common, they're by the same author with a very similar art direction, but there is a lot more focus on the cast compared to Sayonara... Kokoro Connect

May 26, 2020

This show doesn't fuck around and gets right to it. We are introduced to 5 friends who spend a lot of time together but it becomes clear that they really don't know each other all that well. The way they learn more about each other is through supernatural events that they experience, resulting in quite an emotional journey for all of them. The characters are relatable and so are their personal struggles. The show can be pretty dark at times but it balances itself out with how charismatic the characters are. They try to stay positive although the gloomy situations do get the better of them at... See full review

Mysterious Girlfriend X

May 23, 2020

Mysterious Girlfriend did two things really well in my opinion. It treats the sexual tensions between two inexperienced teenagers very maturely since they normally make immature choices but it also mocks the indirect kiss trope by having the teenagers share spit. I really enjoyed the relationship between Mikoto Urabe and Akira Tsubaki. It's not a perfect relationship, they both slip up here and there but that's expected from two teenagers. It makes them both feel human. Ayuko Oka is the real troublemaker, she really tries her best to push Mikoto Urabe and Akira Tsubaki into that immature... See full review

Golden Time

May 20, 2020

Golden Time starts out as a comedy but when all the characters have been introduced the setting changes dramatically. The show really wants to hit you with as many plot twists as possible but I feel that it took away from the whole experience. The main protagonist, Banri Tada, has amnesia and falls for the poster girl of the show, Kouko Kaga. When they meet though, Kouko Kaga is already chasing another guy around. It doesn't take Banri Tada long before he bumps into the girl from his past, Linda, but she tries to keep a safe distance.  So we're basically left with internal... See full review

Keijo!!!!!!!!

May 15, 2020

Keijo reminds me of the Street Fighter fighting game series but the girls use their butts and boobs instead of fireballs, kicks, and punches. The show never takes itself seriously and I think that's one of the reasons why it was also enjoyable. We follow a group of girls going to a special Keijo school where they going through some extremely awkward training to improve the effectiveness of their butt and boob attacks. The show screams Studio Trigger but that doesn't mean that Xebec did a bad job with animating it, I just feel it would have been more enjoyable with a studio that has mastered the art... Interspecies Reviewers

Mar 31, 2020

Let's keep it simple and real, it's a show about brothels in a fantasy world. Expect plenty of slutty girls with big boobs and a bunch of horny guys that are willing to try almost everything. It's a show that plays with the hentai tag-line but is that really a surprise? It's a show about brothers and sex work after all. What makes this show stand out in its genre though is that it's willing to commit to really odd stuff while also being funny. It's a shame that the show will most likely be remembered for getting dropped from several different platforms. How can you not expect borderline hentai and giant... See full review

Everything about this show is awesome and it's one of those shows that I'll be recommending to others. It's got excellent in-depth world-building, out of the ordinary characters that you'll love with some great backstories and there is plenty of unnecessary violence to support its dark humor. The story is build up rather slow and I'd even say that it can be rather predictable at times but that's not what you watch this show for. You want to know more about the world these odd characters live in and you'll find yourself wanting to see how outrages these characters will react in the next episode. Some... See full review

Case File nº221: Kabukicho

Mar 29, 2020

The first half of the show was really enjoyable which was mainly due to a bunch of eccentric detectives (based on well known fictional characters) solving all sorts of mysteries. There is a lot of focus on character development and we get to see what makes every detective tick. The second half of the series is 1 big arc which I thought was a lot less enjoyable. The show tries to introduce several plots twists but it doesn't really work out. The show was rather goofy in the beginning, it never really took itself seriously but it all goes out the window in the second half. A very cool and eccentric cast... See full review

Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story

Mar 29, 2020

I thought this was going to be a continuation from the original series but the characters that we are introduced to in this series are from the mobile game which seems to have a pretty big following. There is a pretty big and colorful cast and I'll admit that I found it hard at times to keep track of who is who due to some of the characters rather looking alike. There were a few characters that felt rather important in the bigger scheme of things but didn't get a proper introduction and I'm guessing that's due to those characters being rather important in the mobile game. In/Spectre

Mar 29, 2020

Let's get straight to the point. It's a very slow-paced show that relies heavily on its dialogue and its thorough build-up, which simply isn't for everybody. I think most people will appreciate the cast due to the witty and cheeky personalities but will probably lose interest in the main plot around the halfway point, I personally really enjoyed the show and not just for its main characters. There is a lot of focus on the what-ifs and for somebody that enjoys trying to figure out what the main plot of a show is and where things will be going, I appreciated the time the show took to dive into each what-if... Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!

A love letter about animation from the people who work in the industry. It doesn't just show the issues the industry has to deal with but also how much these same people care to deliver a project they hope everybody enjoys, told through the eyes of three talented students. The industry struggles to get balanced out with gorgeous imagination sequences which shows why the people love to work in this industry. If there is anything I've learned about this show is that you've got to be extremely flexible to work in this industry and the show's finale, as gorgeous and fun as it is, is not what the three main... Just like Araiya-san! Ore to Aitsu ga Onnayu de!? this is just hentai that they're trying to promote as 'borderline hentai' anime. Don't expect an interesting plot, the whole thing starts with it 'slipping' in by accident with 1 girl and then the boy sexually harasses the other girl. The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of The Commandments

Feb 5, 2020

I thought the first season was quite enjoyable so I was looking forward to continue this little journey but this season has been a very unpleasant experience. It feels like this season was written by a drunk 10-year-old Dragon Ball Z fan. The characters that die can just be brought back whenever they feel like it, the power levels are going through the roof and the whole show is being 'carried' by one character. The show is called 'The Seven Deadly Sins' but they should have just called the show 'Meliodas... and a few friends'. The romance between Diane and King is just a sad tale of... See full review
