takt op.Destiny

May 7, 2022

I started the first episode because the trailer looked rather impressive animation wise. The story remained somewhat of a mystery. The animations were indeed impressive, but the story felt incredibly odd from the beginning. 50 years from now, music has disappeared because when you play music, creatures will show up and attack you. So we start the first episode with a conductor character who powers up a magical girl zero-two wannabe character and them both taking on one of these creatures. They somewhat destroy the town square, but move on after slaying it to a local diner, where they destroy the... See full review

Teasing Master Takagi-san 3

Apr 21, 2022

In the previous two seasons, Takagi was the only one who really tried to express her feelings, and Nishikata was just too immature to really understand what was going on. However, in this season Takagi acts a bit more mellowed out, which creates room for Nishikata to grow into his feelings for Takagi. Takagi still drops hints that she's interested in him, and Nishikata is starting to pick up on the little hints, but especially in the beginning of the season he still thinks that she's just trying to tease him. I felt the balance was off in the previous season, but I guess you could also just see... See full review

My Dress-Up Darling

Mar 28, 2022

Gojo, an aspiring doll-maker who also struggles with anxiety and self-confidence, ends up helping his classmate Marin, an extremely naive but very energetic and popular girl, with her hobby, which is to become a cosplayer.  Their friendship starts off with a few very awkward moments because Marin doesn't really consider Gojo as somebody from the opposite sex and doesn't take his feelings as a guy into consideration, she just sees him as somebody who will help her with her hobby. Gojo on the other hand is just extremely uncomfortable around people, evermore so around teenage girls. But as... See full review

Komi Can't Communicate

Dec 23, 2021

Komi Can't Communicate is a show about a young girl, named Komi, who struggles with a communication disorder. To most people around her, she comes across as a very confident and elegant girl, but in reality she struggles to communicate with the people. Instead, she uses pen and paper to get her message across. She basically starts out as the ice queen of the class who gets put on a pedestal, but the more she interacts with the people around her, the more they start to understand that she's just a normal girl who is struggling with her own insecurities, just like them. The first... See full review

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation - Part II

Dec 20, 2021

This show just continues to impress. After a really strong first season, the second season maintains that really high level of consistency. The thing I love the most about this show is its world building, with character development coming in as a close second. It's a joy to see what kind of approach our heroes might take in dealing with their conflicts, since every conflict is handled in its own unique way. The characters can be extremely goofy but can be serious when they need to be. Everything in this show has a personality. We get to see our heroes travel through several continents... Ganbare, Douki-chan

Dec 19, 2021

Ganbare, Douki-chan was a short but sweet romcom. It felt like a more polished compared to Tawawa on Monday 2, which was a show  released in the same season in almost the exact same format.  Ganbare, Douki-chan follows a girl (Douki-chan) who tries to compete with 2 other female colleagues over the affection of one of the male colleagues. Every time Douki-chan finds the courage to make her move, the other 2 female colleagues come swooping in. It creates some funny but also rather awkward situations. But let's keep it real and simple, the male just seems a bit of a push over, which is... See full review

Tawawa on Monday 2

Dec 19, 2021

Tawawa on Monday 2 wasn't a bad watch, but it's another one of those shows where the art fills like it's not quite up to par with the manga. The manga is just more lively, more detailed and the way its frames just makes it all a bit more entertaining than the anime version. I do think Tawawa on Monday 2 serves its purpose in boosting an interest for the manga.  The show follows a bunch of girls with big boobs, who find themselves in situations where their boobs either become the focus point for a skit or to put their love interest in an awkward situation. Just a rather... See full review

The Aquatope on White Sand

Dec 18, 2021

This was a really strange show that started out with a lot of potential, and it seemed to be a complete package, but after a few episodes it just started to fall apart. The animations are alright, visuals are gorgeous, and the set-up is there for an emotional story which is what you expect from P.A.WORKS, but unlike most of their other recent works, a great portion of its drama is just not that entertaining to watch, and it's also just really dragged out. The show starts with an idol, who fell out of the spotlight, trying to reinvent herself, which was pretty neat. The show then moves its focus towards an... See full review

To Your Eternity

Oct 19, 2021

To Your Eternity had a very interesting concept and I wish it was executed better. The main issues I have with this show is how the plot was pushed along, how awkward all these characters were and how silly some of these awkward forced 'friendships' were considered important life lessons.  The first arc was rather good, it reminded me a lot of John Carpenter's The Thing. An immortal shape-shifting being takes the shape of a wolf that had passed away, makes its way to a small village where he befriends a young boy who lives in a village all by himself. The immortal being watches the... See full review

Higurashi: When They Cry - Sotsu

Oct 2, 2021

A lot of people were confused when they started watching Higurashi: When They Cry - Gou but Higurashi: When They Cry - Gou basically just opened up doors and create new paths for Higurashi: When They Cry - Sotsu. I do have mixed feelings about this season. I really do appreciate how they've created new story paths that do really change up the way we've experienced the other paths in the past but at the same time I feel a little unsatisfied with how the show wrapped things up. A feeling of, "We've been to this exact point before" while I do understand that the cast has a better... See full review

Mother of the Goddess' Dormitory

Sep 18, 2021

Mother of the Goddess' Dormitory has one of those concepts that we've seen in plenty of other animes. A guy ends up in a female-only apartment. Most of the girls don't consider a guy living among them a problem, but then there is always that 1 girl who thinks that it's a horrible idea, but ends up being the girl that falls for the main protagonist. Normally there is another layer to the story, but this show is well aware that its viewers aren't watching this show for that reason.  The plot may be weak, and the characters may feel extremely awkward, silly and obnoxious at times, but if there... Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time

Aug 16, 2021

What a wild ride. I don't even know where to really start. I really enjoyed watching Rei, trying to live a normal life and learning how to enjoy life among the people who survived the near third impact. This was a real treat, and I really wished we got to spend more time with the cast in the other rebuild movies as we did in this movie. I really enjoyed Shinji's and Asuka's growth, the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. Normally, I'm not a huge fan of the empty husk character, but you are and will always be an exception to the rule Rei... no matter which version it is of you. The combat scenes... See full review

Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo

Aug 16, 2021

The 2.0 movie was a rather wild ride where things went a bit different from expected and the 3.0 movie just added a whole new level to that. The movie starts a few years after where 2.0 ended, with Shinji not really knowing what happened during the time he went missing and wondering why everybody is angry with him. Shinji is told by his old friends to never pilot an Eva ever again because he can't be trusted. So a rather confused Shinji feels like he's messed up and starts looking for ways to undo what he has done. I felt that up to this point the rebuild movies weren't able to really nail... Don't Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro

Jul 7, 2021

"Don't Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro" was a manga series I had been reading for a while and I always expected it to receive an anime adaptation, but I also have to be honest and say that I didn't expect it to be any good. Nanashi, the author and artist of the manga series, has a history of publishing hentai material, so I always thought that the anime adaptation wouldn't be picked up by one of the well known studios due to it. It's still cool that more people are getting introduced to the series through an anime adaptation that might have otherwise never known about the manga series.  So I... See full review

Higehiro: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway

Jun 29, 2021

"I can't go home, I'm out of money and my family doesn't want anything to do with me. I've slept with many men just so I could have a roof over my head". Higehiro: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway is a show that's trying to be dramatic and wants you to take it seriously, but everything about it has the complete opposite effect. Its moral compass is off, even though it tries to make you think it's doing the right thing. Godzilla: Singular Point

Jun 24, 2021

Godzilla: Singular Point was aired during spring of 2021, the same season that SSSS.Dynazenon was aired. Godzilla: Singular Point and SSSS.Dynazenon are both shows that have Kaijus (giant Japanese monsters) smashing cities. I bring up SSSS.Dynazenon because I feel that show took a lot of the attention away from Godzilla: Singular Point and I really believe Godzilla: Singular Point deserves a lot more attention. I'd have to say that Godzilla: Singular Point even reminded me of a Studio Trigger production. The art is clean, the characters are great, the story moves pretty fast... See full review

SSSS.Gridman was the follow-up to the old Gridman TV-show called Denkou Choujin Gridman from the '90s and SSSS.Dynazenon takes place in the same universe. The computer world is a parallel universe to the real world, but it's possible for people to cross-over from the real world to the computer world. Osamake: Romcom Where The Childhood Friend Won't Lose

Jun 18, 2021

I dropped the show after a few episodes because it's just another show with a gimmick. The general idea in anime is that the childhood friend never wins the affection of the main protagonist so to solve that problem we're introduced to multiple girls from the main protagonists past who are now fighting over his affection. Every action that the characters were making to progress the plot just made me scratch my head. It's one of those shows that likes to create confusion for the sake of creating confusion... and thinks it's being funny because of it. Just because a show mocks other shows in its... The comfort of being around the people you enjoy spending time with. First love, puppy love, good friendships or just curious to see how people act when you're around them. The show had its entertaining moments, but I'm also well aware that this show just wasn't really for me. The show struggles with the catch 22 in my opinion. Its pros are also its cons. Emotional stress is a big part of the show but the show likes to balance it out by switching through its cast and relieving some of its tension by following it up with a goofy skit. It's like you're invested in a TV show and your mom or dad... See full review

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation

Mar 29, 2021

I'll try to keep it short... and sweet. Some of the best animations I've seen in a long time with some great world building. Well-designed characters that are extremely flawed but are learning how to handle themselves in a rather crazy and brutal world.  The main protagonist, Rudy, is a 30ish-year-old hikikomori (adult who become recluses in their parents’ home), who gets kicked out of the house, gets killed by a truck-kun and wakes up as a baby in a fantasy world. Basically a 30ish-year-old (virgin) mind in a baby's body. And as he grows up, he's rather fast on picking things up... See full review

Higurashi: When They Cry - Gou

Mar 26, 2021

This season got a rather mixed response due to a lot of its viewers not knowing for the first half of the season if the show was a remake or a continuation from the previous seasons. Then there were several weeks where the art style was heavily criticized. Followed by the idea that the plot wasn't of the same 'quality' as the previous seasons.  The truth is that Higurashi has always been a 'What-if' show where it tackles the same story from different angles that result in different outcomes and this season plays in on that rather well. Nothing really changed there. The characters still act... See full review

The Promised Neverland 2nd Season

Mar 26, 2021

After an amazing first season the expectations were extremely high. The first few episodes of the second season didn't disappoint. The mind games between the humans and the demons continues. We meet some interesting demons along the way who aren't like any of the other demons we've encountered before and there seems to be a rather complicated story brewing, which I was really looking forward to.  But then we reach the halfway point of episode 4 and everything I was looking forward to just gets wiped off the table. Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? III

Dec 18, 2020

This is one of my favourite franchises, and it's another season that left me with mixed feelings. The story itself is great but the director made another couple of problematic choices that just ended up with a rather flat execution. The show really struggled to covert the emotions from the page to the screen and leaving you rather confused by certain interactions. Bell bumps into a little monster girl deep down in the dungeons that doesn't react like any of the previous monster's he's encountered. The monster is scared and Bell feels the need to take care of her. Bell learns that there are more monsters... See full review

A pretty solid conclusion to one of the best waifu-war shows out there.  The story continues where the previous season left off. Akane hired Eiriri and Utaha to work on a big project while Tomoya's little circle tries to work on their own project with the help of Izumi. Tomoya finds himself in a difficult spot due to an incident regarding Akane but it helps the cast to work towards the future. The show starts out as Wacky Races (a tv-series that was broadcasted in 1968 including the goofy characters and cars) but the direction of the story starts to change a couple of episodes in. It was a change that I didn't expect but one that I really enjoyed. There are a few moments that feel a little too dark for the show but I guess it's to make the viewer aware that we're not watching the race portion of the show anymore.
