The Vision of Escaflowne has everything that we know and love about the 80’s fantasy genre.
Our main protagonist Hitomi finds herself in an unknown world that’s filled with dragons, magic, odd looking creatures and robots. She accompanied by Van, the king of Fanelia and the pilot of Escaflowne, and catgirl Merle while trying to find her way back to her own world.
Not only is the journey through Gaea a gorgeous one but a very dark and rocky one as well. The party grows stronger with each kingdom they visit, the dynamic of the group is constantly changing and and danger is always lurking.
The story can get extremely dark and it also knows when it’s time to move on to a new part of the chapter really well. You want to see more of the world and the people that live in it.
The show does an excellent job in exploring the love interest of each character which really changes the dynamic often and helps keep everything about the show interesting.
