Oh Wow! Awesome!! The music to the OVA is INCREDIBLE throughout. I really hope you enjoy it :D

Yeah I did see some lukewarm reactions to Beastars around, though I'm hoping it's uniqueness will make it interesting enough for a single cour series. I really liked My Hero Academia, it's a nice blend of classic Shonen fighting show with that Western Superhero style. Not unique but it's fun! Story isn't perhaps the most epic thing ever though. But the Frog Girl and All Might are awesome!

I've so far only seen the 2016 new Berserk so far. I got over it's artstyle eventually especially as I watched the Blu Ray which had some new art here and there. My main problem with the new Berserk stuff is that I came to the realization that I actually didn't feel the need to have more story. Obviously there is more story in the Manga but I found after the Studio 4C films that the Golden Age Arc had finally been told in a more complete fashion and I was somewhat satisfied. Going into the 2016 series with practically the whole original cast of characters missing (for obvious reasons) it just wasn't that interesting to me. I don't know I didn't hate it or anything but my passion lies firmly with the original series and that part of the story really. It was never going to top that. I would still like to get to the 2017 series eventually. And despite all I said I do still wonder if the show had been continued by a studio that was actually worth a damn that maybe it might have been different. Oh well...

Wind Named Amnesia is a really interesting film, not the greatest but it's good. I will prod you once again (as I'm sure I probably have before) to give the Area 88 OVA a try, preferably via the 2 Movie cut. It is sooooo goood!! Also do yourself a HUGE favor and watch Natsume's Book of Friends as it is truly wonderful! :)

Nice to see you watching some stuff again! :)

Yeah the whole world has gone abit mental, fortunately where I live has been 'barely' affected especially since the UK as awhole is pretty bad. Still just watching Anime in unhealthy amounts and trying not to think about it too much.

I would like to watch Beastars soon, I liked the preview when the series was announced.

Yeah Utena was a very interesting show, I liked it's style quite alot though the middle part of the show was abit slow. I have the Movie as it came with the set but I've not watched it yet either, since it's a retelling with a different style I figured I'd wait on it for awhile as I'll probably like it more that way. Though I would like to watch it before the year is over.

I've heard of Yurikuma though didn't know it was by the same person. Yurikuma from the trailers at least looks pretty ecchi and very yuri in comparison to Utena. I may watch it one day but it's not high on my list as yet. Though the Utena link certainly improves it's odds with me.

You've probably figured this out already but the purple Won't Watch Anime still show up in search results and for reasons I've argued against still shows up on your profile for All Anime. But when doing the search results it makes it alittle easier to remove them via the advanced stuff. I also decided to do it as I pretty much had gone through the whole database and added all the TV shows I wanted to watch and it made sense to just mark the rest as Won't Watch. Plenty of very long magical girl or Idol shows I have no interest in. As well as an abundance of Beyblade type series that similarly I just never see myself getting through. There is already more Anime I'm geuinely interested in and likely to enjoy than I can handle and that list is forever growing so it seemed only right to just mark off those that really I could never find the time for no matter how hardcore an Anime viewer I think I am haha.

The Random year thing came about from me just wanting to knock off a bunch of shows. I like to go through years of Anime and see what I've seen and what I was still yet to see. But it did frustrate me that when watching Anime in a very random (though totally natural) way it seemed highly unlikely that I would ever make major dents in certain years of Anime. I mean therotically that is always going to be the case anyway because anytime spent tackling one year of Anime is time not spent tackling the current or indeed any other year. But I thought it would be fun to do anyway, kinda of like placing yourself in a time period and checking out the style of the time and really feeling like you could have been there when these shows were all new. After watching 3-4 shows from the same year you definitely begin to familiarize yourself with it. The show begin to feel fresher and the norm after awhile. Blows the dust right off them if you will.

Though tackling one year doesn't come without it's downsides. I mean I went at 1997 with the focus to just watch what ever I was interested in but it meant I ultimately watched some clangers and spent alot of time with them too. Flame of Recca unfortunately wasn't very good and at 42 eps is no small commitment. I also watched Virus Buster Serge which was hot garbage and Ganbare Goemon which was far too simple to really engage my attention. When shows aren't good they take longer to watch and since I'm very much a one show at a time sorta guy it really slowed down my pace for watching Anime.

But the upside of this random year thing is discovery, sure I know about the names of all the shows and little bits about what they are like but still discovering gems is always a great thing. For example I watched a series called Hyper Police, a show I only really knew because it's English DVD releases were quite obscure and the covers for them were basic but colorful. It had always piqued my interest but I had never made the time for it. Well by commiting to 1997 I did make the time and it was so worth it as Hyper Police is now one of my favourite ever series. Just a superb action comedy with some of the greatest characters. The show was so damn charming and fun I could have watched a 100 eps of it but unfortunately there was only 25. But yeah finding shows like that feels like diamonds in the rough and thats what makes getting through any of the duff shows worth it because they are all worth trying. It's not like Hyper Police is particualy highly rated or anything.

Last year I did the same for a small while with 1989 and 2001. Which led me to discover the 3x3 Eyes and Blood Reign OVAs as well as the incredible Daichi's Earth Defense Family and Shingu Secret of the Stellar Wars shows. So I would highly recommend giving a random year a go.

Just realized that I've typed a giant wall of text haven't I? lol. It just sort flowed out of my fingers so sorry about that :P

Hello stranger. :)

I decided to add the won't watch stuff just so I could block those shows coming up in search results. The criteria for me marking anything like that is either that there is no english version available or that I just don't ever see myself watching these shows.

Something I've dabbled with recently is picking a random year for Anime and then watching a bunch of stuff I've always wanted to see from that year. I mainly worked on 1997. By having won't watch it means I can slowly see the year turn from yellow to blue haha with no purple mixed in between.

I finally watched Utena recently as I bought the BD set. A really beautiful looking show
