BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense.

Dec 6, 2021

So, this isn't even an Isekai, it's a girl playing a safe version of SAO (NWO) that won't kill you if you die in the game.  She's a n00b and doesn't know what she's doing but bungles her way into a seriously OP character completely by dumb luck and by kinda breaking the game mechanics.  The title implies she has no offensive capability but this is not the case....she's just....very unorthodox. The story is pretty lackluster fantasy game fodder BUT where this show excells is in its fight animation which is jaw-droppingly good....the camera work is like nothing I've ever seen before.  It's a... Josee, the Tiger and the Fish

Nov 23, 2021

Finally got to see this at Anime NYC this past weekend.  It was good but damn did it make me ugly-cry, with snot & everything...which isn't fun in a KN95 mask.  It was entertaining to watch it with an large audience and their impromptu reactions to the on screen developments. The only part of the story I didn't like was the romantic rival, Tsuneo's co-worker at the Dive Shop; I don't feel like her love for him was given sufficient development in the story before her ugly confrontation with Kumiko/Josee in the wake of the death of a certain adult character.  It definitely provoked a loud... Kaguya-sama: Love Is War?

Jan 1, 2021

So let's say you're a Dub fan and you're aware that by some quirk of production the Simuldub for Season 2 got released BEFORE the Dub of Season 1.  What to do?  You could read the manga to catch up then start the Simuldub.  You could watch Season 1 subbed like a sensible person then proceed to the Simuldub of Season 2. Or you could be a maniac like me and dive straight into Season 2's Simuldub a total virgin!  And I don't regret it one bit.  This show's fantastic, the dub actors are great, and the very first episode handles characterization so well you get a good grasp right away... Rent-a-Girlfriend

Dec 22, 2020

This show is NOT for everyone.  And fair warning, Episode 1 will make you want to #RAGEQUIT because the main character is such a piece of sh*t....it is really ROUGH and hard to sit through... But....if you have an appetite for CRINGE comedy, and can enjoy watching characters sabotage themselves and have to keep spinning lie after ludicrous lie and can appreciate the absurdity it entails...you might be willing to give this show a chance. Also, if you remember the plot in American Pie (2?) where Alyson Hannigan suggests being the main character's "pretend" girlfriend.... There's a wise... See full review
