Nadia: Secret Of Blue Water

Jan 30, 2011

When watching the series I expected my rating for story to be lower. It seemed it was mostly filler episodes, with hardly any episodes dedicated to the main plot. It wasn't till later did I realize that the show had a lot less filler than I thought. Those random episodes now seem less random, when you connect the dots. The problem is that all of the important information in one of these episodes can be summed up in a few minutes. They just stretched the story a lot longer than it should have been. That could be bad for some people, but I still enjoyed it. There were still a lot of episodes that were... See full review

Garzey's Wing

Nov 25, 2010

Firstly, I would like to explain that I watched the English dub of the show, and the show itself is absolutely terrible. Though, it is the dub that made this show into an unintentional comedy. The show uses the incredibly overused idea of a person being teleported to a strange world to become its hero. Not that it makes it automatically terrible. There are great shows that use this basic stories. I think The Twelve Kingdoms is a great show. The problem is that Garzey's Wing does nothing creative about it. It follows that basic plot strictly. What makes it worse, is that the show makes no sense. It jumps... See full review

Outlaw Star

Jul 28, 2010

I was really excited going into this show. I was told that it is a lot like Cowboy Bebop, and I loved Cowboy Bebop. After watching it, I can say that it is a lot like it. Just imagine Cowboy Bebop more light hearted. Some might call OS a rip off of Bebop, but remember that Outlaw Star did air before Cowboy Bebop (though it only started three months before). The story was really fun, and enjoyable. The show was pretty episodic, but each episode tied in to the main story in some way. Some episodes were directly related to the previous episode. This made it really fun to watch. When I started watching the show... See full review

House of Five Leaves

Jul 3, 2010

Mini-review:It was simply... okay. It was entertaining for the most part, but I never felt excited to see the next episode. I'm not saying it was bad, but it felt like other shows had a higher priority on my watch list. The story was good, but I felt cheated. I was expecting out of Masa, but he didn't do as much as I hoped. It felt like the show ended during the middle of his character development. It feels like there should be a sequel, yet it doesn't. I guess they covered the story, but certain sub plots didn't get finished. I really wanted to see Masa fight in a serious fight. Another show with... See full review

Mini-review:This is the anime that could have been so much more. It tries really hard to be a sad show, but it tries too hard. It feels like I am just getting overloaded. Like when I saw my first R rated horror movie. I was really grossed out. Now, I don't get effected by that stuff anymore. This show desensitized me to the sad moments in the same way. I also feel that for a scene to be really sad, it should be unexpected. I was always expecting something was going to happen. In the end, it wasn't that sad to me. It was depressing, but not sad. The actual plot was good though, and the characters acted more... See full review

Hakuouki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom

Jun 26, 2010

The first episode wasn't that great, but I thought it had potential. Unfortunately I think it didn't use that potential. I just thought it was plain boring. I kept spacing out and day dreaming while watching. By the end of the show, I didn't know what was going on, because I mossed a lot of important talks. Even the action scenes weren't that great. Most of it consisted of boring fights with grunts, in battles that didn't have too much importance. The characters weren't that great. They were so lazy. The main character didn't really seem to try hard to complete what she first set off to do. She just... See full review

Angel Beats!

Jun 26, 2010

Micro reviewKey never disappoints me. It is very different from the other anime from them, and it was a good change. It had a lot of action which shows like Kanon, Air and Clannad didn't have. Despite that, it still had the drama you would expect from the people who made those previously mentioned. I thought the show was absolutely hilarious. I can't say that with many animes. I just love the delivery. I think that's what made the humor so great. It's a little odd. An anime that I thought was so funny, was also so sad. I thought they did a great job, pulling both of those together in this show. It was great... See full review

Durarara!!

Jun 26, 2010

Here is my compact review,At first I wasn't impressed. It had a pretty interesting style, but nothing really happened that caught my interest. A little while into the show, it became epic, and just plain awesome. The show definitely had one of the best cast of characters. Simon, Celty, Izaya, and Shizuo were great. I already decided that I will cosplay as Shizuo. The ending could have been better, but did I still enjoy it? Yes. Maybe this was the best ending. It was certainly different, and if it had a standard ending, then it might not have had the same impact. The music was really great. The two OPs... See full review

Tales of Vesperia ~The First Strike~

Jun 12, 2010

Warning the follow review is made by a "Tales of" fanboy. You'll probably like this movie if you are a fan of the game. If you don't care much about the game, you might not like it so much. At first it didn't seem so great, but by the end it turned out to be a lot better because it started to tie in with the game's story. I like their decision to make the movie a prequel. I've seen the Phantasia anime and the first Symphonia anime, and I am currently watching the second Symphonia anime. When you make a short OVA series out of an RPG, you will have to leave a lot out of it. This movie was better... See full review

RahXephon: The Motion Picture

May 21, 2010

I watched the series a while ago, so I thought I would watch the movie. I really only watched it because it was part of the series box set. Since I bought it, I decided to watch it. My main problem with the series was that I thought it was really boring. I thought since they would have to condense the show, it would have a faster pace. While it did move faster, it was too fast. It was probably the most confusing movie I've ever seen. It already had a story that made little sence, but it didn't help that they were all over the place. It was like they took all of the important scenes from the show, but did... See full review

Space Pirate Captain Herlock: The Endless Odyssey

May 4, 2010

One of the best OVA series I've ever seen. I've seen the original Harlock, so I was excited to see how the characters looked, totally updated, and modernized. It was awesome. The characters looked just like how they used to back in the 70's, but now they are animated better, better coloring etc. The voice acting has improved a lot too. I still preferred Dr. Zero's original voice. Captain Harlock / Herlock was just as BA. I especially liked Mimeh's seiyuu. I don't know why, but I just wished she had more lines in the show. Holy cow, this was a really dark anime. The original show was what you'd expect from... See full review

Eureka Seven: Good Night, Sleep Tight, Young Lovers

Apr 4, 2010

I was excited about watching this because I just finished the series. Despite me being disappointed, it was a good movie. I was just so confused when watching it. I didn't bother reading anything when going into it. I had no idea it was an alternate retelling. To me it seemed like some guys at Bones were coming up with an idea for a movie when some guy tells them, "You know that is the basic plot of Eureka Seven?" Since they were so far in writing the story, they then just decided to replace all the characters with Eureka Seven characters. It was just so weird, because some... See full review

Kimi ni Todoke - From Me To You

Apr 4, 2010

I loved 99% of this show. I just loved the characters in it. They somehow made just ordinary events, extremely interesting to me. Looking at the show, I realize that it was really slow paced, and nothing much would happen in an episode. Somehow though, it just flew by. I felt like I was really rooting for Sawako, and I was very happy when something good happened to her. The 1% that I did not like was the ending. They ended it to look like there will be a sequel, but there was no real cliffhanger. I was wondering if that was really the last episode or not. It just ended without really solving... Eureka Seven

Mar 31, 2010

I'll admit it. When I first started watching the show, I thought I was going to drop it. At first the characters annoyed the hell out of me. I gave it a chance, and boy am I glad that I did. This was one of the most pleasant surprises that I have had. That story was really good. While the overall plot is good, it was what happened along the way, that I loved. Most animes that I watch are the series that range around 12 and 24 episodes. So relativley this was a long series, since it is twice as long. While I have watched a few series of this length, they kind of bored me in the middle of the series. A lot of... See full review

Loved it. It was just silly fun. There was no real point, but be cute and funny. I'm just assuming that there is going to be a sequel. It just ends without resolving any of the problems. Mainly, they did what a lot of harem animes love to do.The animation was good, but nothing amazing. It won't be something I'll remember years later. I did like how they animated Hiiragi. I just thought it was funny, and interesting. The characters were great. It's what the show really focused on. They were all good, but I just loved Hiiragi. Okamikakushi: Masque of the Wolf

Mar 29, 2010

What a terrible show. It had some potential at the beginning, but it just got worse from there. It was not scary, or even a little creepy. It was just stupid. By the time the show was over, I was asking myself, "that was it?" They knew nothing about pacing. The show ended, but then there was still one more episode. Of course it had nothing to do with the story. Why? What's the point? It's like they inserted filler, but there is nothing left to "fill". It was just stupid. Man, I really hated the characters. They were just generic and boring. Hiroshi was the worst. Good... See full review

Kobato.

Mar 26, 2010

For most of the show it was just okay. Nothing really big happened most of the time. It totally changed during the last two episodes. Wow! I thought those two episodes nearly made up for the rest of the show. It was really touching, and was a little teary-eyed. I was a little disappointed though, but that's a spoiler. They did a really good job at the animation. The colors, and everything felt really comforting. The animation combined with the character Kobato, kind of put me in a good mood after each episode. I don't know if CLAMP is just full of themselves or what. They LOVE cameos. I... See full review

This was a pretty good commercial. I say that, because it felt like the show was just a way to sell CDs. There really seems like no real reason for all the music they threw into the show.My feelings changed about this show the whole way through watching it. I really liked it at first, and then I got kind of tired of it during the middle, but it was awesome at the end. Too bad it was the very end of the show, that was great. Nothing really amazing happens until the very end, so it felt really rushed by the twentieth episode. What really bothered me about the show was the animation. Sometimes the... See full review

Was this supposed to be longer? There seems to be a lot of back story, but it barely touched on it. We get a glimpse of it, but that isn't enough. This OVA was only three episodes long, and it should of had added another episode, so we could at least get to know the characters, and sympathize with them. Instead, I felt like I didn't really care what happened to them. We also see a few characters who pop up a few times, which just seems out of place. I think we were meant to have seen more of them.  It wasn't bad though. It did a pretty good job on the action side, but they could have... See full review

Summer Wars

Mar 4, 2010

Right off the bat I realized that this looked a lot like the Girl Who Leapt Through Time. I quickly realized that this was much better IMO. This movie was more action, while the other was more slice of life. It definitely made this new movie more exciting to watch. Parts were pretty cliche, but it did not matter as much, because I thought it's good points made the bad parts forgivable. If I had to compare this movie to another, I might compare it to War Games. Instead Summer Wars is crazier, has more interesting visuals. This world of OZ is pretty interesting, but makes no friggin sense. They do things later... See full review

Macross Plus

A pretty good short OVA series. I have two different opinions on the story. The overall plot is is just so-so. I did not find it particularly interesting, and it felt rushed. It felt like it was ending just as it finished getting started. For a show based around fighter jets that transform into mechas, there is surprisingly very little action. It was the characters' stories are what made the show interesting. Over the course of the show they gave little hints about the background of the characters, and I just felt like I wanted to know more. The characters were alright. They seemed kind of bland at first... See full review

I've already watched Kanon (2006) and Air before this, and this is definitely the best out of the three. My opinion might change after watching the next season. I found that one of the things that really separated it from the other two shows was that it was actually pretty funny. They really improved on the humor. The characters in the show is another strength, and it is a weakness at the same time. They aren't really original with their characters. You might be thinking you have seen these characters before. Kite

Jan 4, 2010

This was an anime that depended almost entirely on shock value. They wanted to surprise the audience with sex and gore. Well, they surprised me, but it did not really entertain me. They felt really unnecessary. That's not to say that they other parts didn't do their part of entertaining. If I had to compare it to anything I would compare it to Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~ (or Phantom). Just take the story of Phantom and condense it to 50 minutes, and make it not as good. It had the potential to be better. If they made it into a regular length movie, and expanded the back story, this could have been an... See full review

Umineko: When They Cry

Dec 25, 2009

What the hell? When it finished I only had a vague idea about what happened. The story jumped around constantly. It got really bad when Ange came into the show. They also did a terrible job at explaining things. It felt like the show was constantly contradicting itself. I really don't know what to say because I don't know what I just watched. I thought it was just a big mess. If I have to give the show one complement, it would be that the music was pretty good.It might have been a good thing that I didn't play the visual novel. At first I wasn't going to watch the show, but my curiosity pulled me in. I have to thank my curiosity. I really liked this show. While it had a lot of generic things in the show, I think they did it right. I find most of the male protagonists annoying in harems, but this show was different. I actually found it funny, which is really odd for me. While I love anime, I usually don't like the humor in them. I want a second season right now!

Short review because this anime doesn't deserve that much effort into it.Pretty bad show from start to finish. Somehow it was still entertaining enough, that I didn't drop the show. I can understand shows inserting random comedy episodes, but that was 90% of the show. They introduced the story, and forgot about it until the very end. So, the story felt really rushed. The rushed story wasn't that good either. It was extremely generic. Not only that, but it was filled with a bunch of animation mistakes. What?

Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team

Wow! I was really surprised by this show. I thought it was going to be just another action show. I was surprised to find out that I was wrong. What was really great about the show were the characters. There were a lot of of depth to them. In just a short amount of time (it's only 12 episodes) it felt like I really got know the characters, and I felt for the characters when they were struggling. I kind of had an idea in my mind that short action series couldn't be good, because they would just rush through everything. If felt like a lot happened, yet it wasn't rushed. Jyu-Oh-Sei

Dec 2, 2009

So many animes feel like they are either too long or too short for their story. This is a prime example. It seemed like they planned the show to be longer, but it was cut short. 11 episodes? That seems like a weird number to stop on. At least 12 or 13 would be normal. Series usually have a beginning, middle, and an end. Not Jyu Oh Sei. It felt like it jumped from the introduction episodes (where characters are introduced) and then suddenly it was at the climax. In the middle of the show it jumped about five years. It could have been been a 20-something episode show if it showed what happened in those years... See full review

Tenchi Movie 3: Tenchi Forever

Nov 30, 2009

A pretty good movie I guess. It did not feel like a Tenchi Muyo at all. Tenchi Muyo used to have a lot of humor, and action. It wasn't something to be taken seriously. It was like they wanted to change that in this movie. There was very little humor, and no action. Even the characters felt like they had less energy in them. Of the three movies it somehow had the best story even though it was the basic story throughout all the movies. One of them is in trouble (usually Tenchi) and it is up to everyone else to save him. They still can't think of a creative way to create the antagonist. In every movie, and... See full review

Tenchi The Movie 2: The Daughter Of Darkness

Nov 14, 2009

I think I'm going to be different from a lot of people, because I thought this movie was better than the first. Tenchi Muyo is really more about the characters than story, and this movie had a lot more focus on what makes it good. If you liked the characters then there is nothing really new. The characters are the same except with the addition of a new character. If you were looking for character progression then you are out of luck. Personally, I like the Tenchi franchise for the pointless fun. I don't take it seriously. So I loved the characters. I am still a little annoyed how Tenchi never really decides... See full review
