DARLING in the FRANXX

Jun 6, 2020

I'm going to try to keep this short and simple, and it's gonna be messy. (also spoilers, of course)

How you percieve Darling in the FranXX very heavily lies on your own morals and what you like, and what you hate.

Sexual References

Some people say the sexual poses ruin the anime, but you have to remember that happens to be the entire point by design. To these teens, it is simply normal. It shows you how they rediscover love when it was forgotten many years ago, and that these children know nothing of what that means in todays world until later in the season.

Ending

A lot of people hate the ending, and them dying, well, I'm not sure I liked that part. Happy ever after, I don't know if I exactly wanted that. (I did want Hiro to finally call Zero Two darling for once, you will notice she calls him darling ~35 times I think, but he never returns that) The aliens at the end had absolutely no place in there, and just ruined it all. If they ever create a season two, I think the ending was great, because it set up another chapter, kind of bringing you back to the start again. If they don't, then the ending leaves much to be desired. A lot of people say that the ending is setting up another season. However, the ending could hold it back. It shows that the cycle is complete and they have come back to fall in love, something we have already seen. If they add the season, without warfare to wage which at least gives something else to watch, it would be simple romance.

That is all I'm going to say, for those are the main issues many people have with it. I would say if you aren't going to 'get offended' by the sexual references, then you should 100% watch it. The concept of Zero Two taking after everything Hiro did when they were younger, only for Hiro to forget that and be suprised by it, is interesting. If you actually read this I feel bad for you.
