So, this is an animé about a girl who is actually quite intolerable, but her "friends" still hang out with her and obey her every whim because they have orders to watch her and because they're too scared about what might happen to the world should they upset her in any way. The protagonist, Kyon, I think is supposed to be the only one with moral enough to stand up to Haruhi, and he... doesn't.
