Heltalia is NOT a history lesson. It has historical references, so it's funnier if you know history, but it by no means teaches history. It's historilcally accurate in the sense that WW2 really happened, but it is not in any way an accurate representation of WW2. This anime is essentially the answer to the question "what would history look like if countries were cute anime boys?". I think it's hilarious that anyone thought up this concept. One of the funniest anime I've watched in a long time. It doesn't take its self to seriously and almost feels like a parody taking all the popular male tropes and putting them into her harem. My only issue with it is the idea that she's suddenly worth something when she loses weight. The beginning feels really fatphobic. After that first episode though it really tones that down, so I found it pretty easy to look past it, but if you're sensitive to that I would pass on this anime.
