Well there's Gosick (love Gosick) that's the best you'll get, KamiMemo and Un-go are more detective mystery but along the same lines, otherwise you'd need to find some means of gleaming out the more interesting parts of Detective Conan lol
Well let's see, I definitely go for uniqueness. I'm big on emotional series, particularly those w/ sad or tragic elements. Great characters are always a plus, but good character interactions can be more important. Atmosphere, definitely like shows that create a strong atmosphere. I tend to find I like shows that are true to their themes and don't try to be something they're not. I'm sure I could ramble more, but in time these things will be discussed.
Also, those are pretty much my hobbies, anime and football lol. I listen to A LOT of music, particularly Japanese music. So if you want some musical recommendations I can help out there too. I'm a civil engineer if that's of any interest to you, graduating on Sunday :D.

It's a very good show, and unique doesn't even begin to describe it. I mean the only other recent show that's even close to as unique is [C] (which is another show I really like btw). But [C] is more of a unique world whereas Penguindrum is a straight-up unique show.
So yeah, feel free to ask me about any shows you're curious about (I've watched a good amount). And if you hav anything thematically specific that you're looking for I can try to make a recommendation.
