In terms of movies, yeah both Summer Wars and Redline, both by the same studio, are entertaining despite little plot depth. I probably preferred Redline cause it embraces the pure entertainment factor. Then in terms of actual plot movies, there's Wolf Children of course, I'm partial to Princess and the Pilot as well. Hotarubi is a great short movie (~40 min). Also, I loved Bungaku Shoujo, it's a 3 ep OVA plus a movie. But I warn you that's very heavy, not sure if it might be up your alley. An OVA/ movie series I like is Towa no Quon. It's 6 movies like ~50 min each if I recall correctly. I found it incredibly interesting, but I've noticed some people don't appreciate it as much as I.
