Best Fights

1 The Irregular at Magic High School

The Irregular at Magic High School

There could be several fights that could easily be added to any list of among the best ever from this show but probably the best and most entertaining fight is between Tatsuya and Ichigo at the Nine Schools' Competition Monolith Code event.  The best fights are not just about skill, flash, entertainment, or power, but often come from the most lopsided of odds or at least belief in lopsided odds.  We have that here.  I just love watching shocked gasping expressions by powerful or even otherwise cocky characters as all their beliefs, prejudices, or expectations get completely dashed to dust.

It's not in anime form yet but the solo battle against an entire squad of magical terminators might actually be better,  it since the that isn't on anime yet, it can't be added.

2 Birdy the Mighty

Birdy the Mighty

There are actually 3 breif 'fights' in here and the last one is the last few minutes of episode 4.  The best encounter of all the Birdy series is when she faces off against the all time best antagonist in anime history, Gomez.  Sure these encounters are breif and barely a few seconds but that is what actually makes them so freaking impressive.  As powerful as Birdy is, since she is essentially the most powerful being in the show other than Gomez and a superhero level powerful on the level of Superman, Green Lantern, or Ms Marvel or even Wonder Woman, she struggles against the even mightier Gomez.  And to see such a huge difference in power and strength between them even though she is the most feared and respected 'cop' in the universe is just beyond epic.  They maybe short but these fights are about the most memorable of all conflicts ever in anime.

3 Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?

Nothing can get your blood pumping like an iconic hero coming into his own through the challenge of his life by the very thing that cost him his confidence and nearly his life.  Once again, the hero, Bell, is outmatched by what is supposed to be a much tougher and higher level opponent than he should be able to handle.  It is a fight and an anime worth of the likes of Homer and Ray Harryhausen.  You will not be disappointed.  It is even more rewarding to watch the stunned gazes of some of the best highest level fighter in the series be shocked at what unfolds before them.

4 07-Ghost

07-Ghost

There are two fights in this show that are so close to how epically good they are that it is hard to pick.  Frau in any combat scene is a treat to watch because not only he is a total badass with insane combat skills and even more insane magical powers but because he puts on such a good cool guy act you might not help rooting for him in any fight.  He is like a magic powered preacher version of Fonzie with an even more powerful alternate form.  The first time he faces a creature targeting his new charge is one heck of display to witness.  For a one on one encounter few can measure up, but when the huge battle scene near the end hits you may find that one to be the even bigger show de force to watch.  There are so many single combat challenge going on on top of a massive army invasion, your eyes will have a hard time knowing where to look.  The capstone is when a hidden super power activates and wipes out huge swaths of enemies.

5 Log Horizon 2

Log Horizon 2

The best fight in either season of the entire series occurs against the last 3 obstacles in the treasure room.  Despite having a full raid team of some of the best and highest level characters, they struggle tremendously against the overwhelming odds of these near invincible god like monsters.  It is truly the most epic fight in the entire series and one that will leave you wondering how do they even face such odds let alone ever hope to over come them.

6 The Seven Deadly Sins

The Seven Deadly Sins

Deadly Sins is another anime with several really good fight scenes and powerful if not surprisingly interesting and complex characters.  However the best fight occurs in the very last episode between the main good guy and bad guy, Meliodas and the Demon commander, though you know who he is but if I say the name it might be too much of a spoiler to those who have yet to watch it.

7 Utawarerumono: The False Faces

Utawarerumono: The False Faces

Many shows on this list like this one have more than one fight good enough to make any list.  The one between Haku and Oshuturu for example is good despite being somewhat short.  One reason it is good is how surprisingly well Haku holds up in a fight.  The one between Vurai and Oshuturu near the end however is hands down the best fight in this series.  It is one well worth watching because both are not only excellent fighters who put it all on the line duirng this contest and fight more seriously perhaps than any other single combatants in any anime fight ever but they both unleash their full physical and magical powers during the fight which includes what they can turn into.

8 Birdy the Mighty: Decode 2

Birdy the Mighty: Decode 2

As one AMV depicted, the fight between the two Ixiorans is on an epic scale.  Thankfully the part of the city they destroy was already in ruins.  There are other good fights.  Frankly the best one though short is between Birdy and Gomez, but that is not shown in this anime.  She also has a great fight against the android lolita girl, but the best one of the second incarnation of the series is against the fellow Ixioran super humanoid.  The amv depicted it as iconic as the fight in the new Superman movies against General Zod and it is surprisingly similar, but this one happened first.  Birdy is in nearly every sense of the word an alternate female version of Superman.  Both being aliens from a suppressed or reduced and weakened population but with extraordinary powers, strength, and durability.  There are a few differences but within their respective shows they are both about the strongest heroes around.  And you can see the full fury of her struggle against her greatest challenge.

9 Sword Art Online II

Sword Art Online II

Sword Art Online is a great series.  Kirito is very capable but he is only so powerful in games so though it is a great fight, he can never quite measure up to those characters who have super natural skills for real and in real life, or well relative to the anime.  Of both seasons, the single best fight occurs with Death Gun.  One reason for this is not only is it the biggest uphill challenge of his life with such an unknown and powerful force, but it is from an enemy he faced before with terrifying results.  He faces a man with a gun with a sword who is exceptionally skilled at combat as well as more then cold blooded enough to kill in and out of games.  As if to add insult to injury, Kirito fights him with a mild handicap, he looks like a girl.  Not that it would totally be unfair stats (that is a given when you look at the top finalists and it has more than one girl in it), but it does throw his stride off from his normal one and at least early on makes him question his confidence at times either for honesty or for being looked at with such savage eyes by predator like characters.  Death Gun is an opponent crafty enough to put Kirito on edge.  He is as skilled, cunning, crafty and quick as Kirito but far more ruthless.  Like Bell earlier in the list, Death Gun is also essentially a horrifying ghost from his past that even then unnerved him to no end.  Now he must face such an oppenent again.  Ya, you could say it is actually 2 on 3 combat but most of the most intense parts of it are those two.  And Death Gun is most likely operated by their best and most ruthless member at the time.

10 Cerberus

Cerberus

It isn't pretty but the best combat is not actually the one at the end but the first time he unleashes his full dragon fury and loses control.  The kitty magic girl escapes but his rage does not dissipate and spirals out of control.  There are no real winners or losers and the one enemy he is facing is some kind of shadow beast his sheer power draws out.  Seeing the raw power of his alternate form is quite the shock but what makes it more thrilling and terrifying at least for those in the series, is how little he has control or even awareness of it.  It is so much power and raw rage that even he can not manage to control it or even keep conscious or awareness he is doing it.

11 Attack on Titan

Attack on Titan

Who can forget the epic fight between the female titan and rogue titan?  It lasts a long time.  He fights her more than once.  She is a better fighter but he has far more drive and determination.  During the fight, he even unleashes a new horrifying power.  What can be cooler than all that?

12 Parasyte -the maxim-

Parasyte -the maxim-

This amazing show actually has quite a few very good fights from the one Goto rages against the Yakuza hideout, to the big battle between Goto and Shinichi, but the one I think actually stands out the most is the one with Ryoko against the traitor trio.  She uses unbelievable foresight, tactics, and planning to take them on.  Her ultimate weapon is the fact she has actually started thinking more and more like a human which gave her an incredible edge over anyone of her kind.  In a one on one fight she could probably do very well against Goto if not totally take him out.  Goto being the ultimate super alien with 5 parasytes who is super strong but he still thinks like a Parasyte and Rukia doesn't.  So even if she faced all 5 parasytes, I feel she would have an edge, but if it were just against the Goto head parasyte, I think she could mop the floor with him.  Her willingness to use unconventional strategy not only makes her much closer to human but the way she employs it by risking her own life to achieve it proves she no longer thinks quite as straight forward and logically as any other parasyte.  Her fight against the traitor trio is truly the most rewarding of the series.  It also proves that Shinichi and his friend are not the only ones who believe the parasytes can actually coexist and do so without using humans for food.  The truth is, Ryoko may have started out totally a parasyte but her rapid evolvement has really put her much closer to a true hybrid or even a symboitic condition closer to Shinichi.

13 Saga of Tanya the Evil Movie

Saga of Tanya the Evil Movie

It's one of the most anticipated conflicts of the series when Lolita magic super power faces another.  Though a section near the end is a bit wanting the bulk of it is as epic as Birdy's fight at the end of season two.  Mary, who is falsely cast as a 'good guy' doesn't care who or what she destroys to get to Tanya, including a city of civilians or even her own allies, whom she constantly and selfishly risked of her own narcissism.  If she's a good guy, then I'd rather take my chances with Tanya.  The last fight lasts quite awhile and ranges a great distance over a massive city and battlefield.

14 Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar

Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar

There are a few good fights in this series but the best most eye opening grip the edge of your seat one happens when Kenchi in his mech is lured into the Pillar Arena at the school where he proceeds to take an entire squad of enemy mechs to school (pun intended) and teach them why they are no match.  His quick and seemingly gravity defying movements despite not actually activating rockets or 'flight' mode really make this scene just look cool.  Kenchi is so dominering and even scary that he practically comes off as a monster.

15 A Certain Magical Index

A Certain Magical Index

The fight between Accelerator and Touma is hands down the best of the entire series.  When a level 5 takes on a level 0 and he can't easily defeat him, the shocked accelerator finds himself not only at a loss for words but a loss for options to deal with Touma.  It is one of the longest fights I have ever seen in an anime series and one of the most thrilling and exciting to watch.  It is not just because of the classic good guy vs bad guy appeal but Touma is not even doing it for himself and Accelerator only seems to care for himself.

16 Kingdom

Kingdom

I may have to rate this higher.  This fight is not only the best from the entire series but by far the most surprising and rewarding.  This epic scene raised the bar significantly of my view of the otherwise yes man nonchalant background character, Teng.  It blew me away what he could do and did do at such a gratifying and amazing scene at Qi Wang’s last battle.  It’s so satisfying he practically steals the show from everyone else.  Him and Qi ARE the best characters in this show.  Sorry but the lead is a bit to cocky and thinks he’s better than he is, plus they totally destroy his character in season two.

17 Soul Eater

Soul Eater

This series also had a few good fights but the best and most memorable is I'd have to say the one with Crona when she activated her demon powers.  She basically becomes as powerful as Crona but being far more disciplined and a better more trained melee fighter, she's got a clear edge.  It's short but unforgettable as she even out crazy's Crona.  Sure the boss fights with Medusa and the Kishin are also quite epic, but they don't stand out as much.  There's several fights with Medusa so harder to pick one but the labyrinth one is probably the best there and the Kishin is at the series end.

18 Naruto Shippuden

Naruto Shippuden

The best fight I've seen so far in Naruto has to be Naruto vs Pain.  Pain is not even necessarily the strongest nor toughest villain but his fight is impressive enough to make him seem that way.  He puts on a much better show than many tougher villains who appeared before or after.  Both protagonist and antagonist keep one upping the other with optimal and at times surprising skill uses.  It is one hell of a show to watch.  The fight is one of the longer ones I have ever seen in an anime and that only adds to how impressive the contest between the hero and villain is.

19 Reikenzan: Hoshikuzu-tachi no Utage

Reikenzan: Hoshikuzu-tachi no Utage

The epic fight between demi-gods or gods to be in training, Obu and Shinjin is truly a fight worthy to watch.  Obu was thought to be heavily outclassed by the higher ranked and higher level sage and god in training, Shinjin.  Not only does Obu not even bother to use a true actual weapon, but she is a woman, she is younger, and she is below his grade and rank and yet she boldly challenges him and his arrogance after he accuses her of crimes she did not commit.  Her fuel fired up, Obu bravely offers to challenge him in a godly like duel of trial by combat to prove she is right.  It is truly wonderful to watch.

20 Darker than Black

Darker than Black

Blood bomber seems like an appropriate name for what amounts to be Hei's number one nemesis through out the show and the one opponent he has the most trouble with.  All their encounters are terrific fights but their last one in the subway tunnel is one for the record books.

21 The Devil is a Part-Timer!

The Devil is a Part-Timer!

The conflict between Maou and Lucifer is pretty impressive but pales compared to the fight between Maou and Sariel.  Not only is this a massively epic battle of tremendous power between two very powerful characters but it lasts a good while and it is filled with some quite flashy power uses and even transformations.

22 Saga of Tanya the Evil

Saga of Tanya the Evil

This series honestly has several good fights  But the first one is probably the best and most memorable, partly because more than half the fight she didn't even have a working weapon when she was doing her scout mission.

23 Altair: A Record of Battles

Altair: A Record of Battles

There are lots of good fights in this stellar show but the best is probably the one that sets things in motion with the general invading Torqye just as the hawk pulls the tent away then Mahmut fights seriously.
