Welcome To My Profile!
I'm Empress or Kisaki (same meaning, different languages). I honestly don't know why anyone would want to read this but here are some "interesting" facts about me:
I'm Asian, so I grew up with anime. My dad used to bring home DBZ movies, my aunt gave me the Tonde Buurin series in videotape as a present, my older cousins had a bunch of manga and would watch Slam Dunk and Ranma 1/2, so to me watching anime was like watching cartoons for Western kids.
I've lived in a few different countries and I'm a polyglot so I've seen anime in a few different languages with different dubs. That being said, I don't like dubs and always prefer the original audio.
If you are wondering what languages I speak, they are: Spanish, English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Japanese and German. I also know basic Korean and understand a bit of French.
You might have noticed just by looking at my profile that I'm a huge One Piece fan. Yes, I've been following that shit since forever and it still doesn't end lol. That by itself is a huge feat since I don't like waiting for new content as I'm a binge watcher/reader. I normally drop series that make me wait, but One Piece has kept me hooked for over a decade. Incredible.
Yes, One Piece is a shounen anime and I enjoy shounen anime a lot. That being said, I actually watch all kinds of anime regarless of genre, although I particularly like ones that are funny, relaxing, cute or exciting.
I watch all kinds of anime but I don't particularly enjoy ones with stressful storylines. One anime in particular that comes to mind when I say "stressful" is Code Geass. I don't know why, I just couldn't enjoy it because I kept feeling stressed out when I watched it. Another kind of anime I avoid is harem. They just get boring over time and keep repeating the same stupid jokes over and over again. Not my thing.
Although if I love something a lot not only do I binge watch/read it, but I can do it several times. For example I've watched Cardcaptor Sakura around 10 times and I can do it again. Once in a while I just feel like watching it, so I do. Same goes with Kiki's Delivery Service. I don't know what it is about that movie, it just makes me feel good whenever I watch it, so I can watch it over and over again and never get sick of it.
I also read manga and again, I prefer it in the original language so it's a bit difficult to find. I also read translated manga, it doesn't bother me as much as dubs but whenever possible I read them in Japanese. Whether a manga has an anime or not is not of my concern since I don't normally watch the anime if I already read the manga unless it was really good. I sometimes also read the manga of an anime I've watched if it was really good or if I wasn't satisfied with the ending. Needless to say, I read and watch One Piece because hell, it's too good, although I've stalled it for about a year now. Unlike anime, I do have a preferred genre for manga and it's yaoi. I read shounen, shoujo and other stuff as well, but I mostly read yaoi.
My most recent obsession is: Haikyuu!!
