Really? I had no idea the original light novel was so old. It's unfortunate that my reading experience was spoiled then, because I usually like older works.

Ye a lot of manga/light novels that use the "Everyone is playing a role in a play they don't know they're in except for the POV character"  gimmick tend to be based on otome game plots and usually use the Villainess as the POV character to give her motivation to try to escape the narrative. It's even more weird when you consider that otome games don't tend to have villainesses in them at all, but it's kind of a fushion of otome game logic and old-style shoujo manga logic.

Some stories in the list stray away from the Villainess POV, though. They're not as common, but there are some stories that focus on other perspectives including
Butler (Akuyaku Reijou no Shitsuji-sama: Hametsu Flag wa Ore ga Tsubusasete Itadakimasu)
Heroine (Lady Rose Wants to Be a Commoner)
Maid (Love Quest for a Servant Girl)
Mob Character (I Am Troubled That My Fiance Is a Villain)
Prince (Fiancé's Observation Log of the Self-proclaimed Villainess)
Villain (Reincarnated as the Piggy Duke: This Time I'm Gonna Tell Her How I Feel!)
Villainess's Daughter (Born as the Daughter of the Wicked Woman)
Villainess's Follower (Beating the Heroine at Her Own Game)

etc etc, but yeah there's a lot of villainess stuff
