I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in The Real World, Too

Complete garbage. Drawn in with beautiful character animation, then given trash to view. I'd rather watch grass grow.

Farming Life in Another World

Jun 23, 2023

(Spoiler Free Review) Minor objectionable content (TV-PG) Where to start? This show is pretty bad. It starts off as a standard isekai... reincarnated, overpowered main character, shounen, love intrerests, et cetra. Assuming that this show has a plot, there are a lot of implied important events. Oh, I guess this stuff is happening in the background. Maybe we should delve into any important event? Nah, let's introduce more characters and put more fluffy slice-of-life stuff in the show. In fact, I was waiting for the show to do something. It never really did. As for the characters. I think the word... See full review

Beast Tamer

Jan 28, 2023

(Spoiler Free Review) Minor objectionable content (TV-PG). I was intrigued how this anime would play out. The main concept, characters, and plot reminded me of three different anime combined; 1)Banished from the Hero's Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside 2)The Fruit of Evolution: Before I knew It My Life Had It... Peter Grill and the Philosopher's Time

Sep 12, 2022

(Spoiler Free Review)  Strong objectionable content (TV-MA+). Well, I think you'll get the hang of the show with a few questions and answers. Is this a good anime? No. Is there a plot? Barely. Is there any character development or growth? No.  Is it funny? Sometimes. Is there ridiculous amounts of sex and nudity? Yes. Let's just say that the tag "Borderline H" Is putting it lightly, I'm surprised there isn't an uncensored version. Those questions pretty much sum up this anime. That being said, I believe this show does its job as a mega fan-service show. The best anime comparison... See full review

SPY x FAMILY

Jul 10, 2022

(Spoiler Free Review) Minor Objectionable Content (TV-14) This show is certainly enjoyable and engaging with a huge fan base, however it falls short objectively. I know that this isn't the popular opinion, but it's the truth. The plot progression and character development are major issues with this story. When it comes to the plot the metaphor would be that this anime is spinning its wheels. There is a clear goal and almost zero progress toward that goal. The entire show is four-five episodes of story, so there are seven-eight episodes of filler. Thought I was watching a 1000 episode shounen. Very... See full review

Don't Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro

Apr 3, 2022

(Spoiler free review) Objectionable content (TV-14). A teenage romantic comedy where one character, Nagatoro, completely messes with (teeses) another character, Hachioji. The plot is linear and continuous, no jumping around. Which is nice! Each episode is comprised of several short skits (the anime could be seen as episodic). In my opinion, this show is designed to be watched on a week-by-week basis. This format most likely airs well on television, but if you're watching the plot unfold all at once, it is stale. Like two-day-old bread stale. Make sure to save at every checkpoint! Characters are shallow... See full review

Alderamin on the Sky

Dec 19, 2021

(Spoiler Free Review) Major objectionable content (TV-MA). This anime is certainly engaging. It was not hard to watch it all in one day, however the show falls short objectively. The plot is continuous from start-to-finish (which is nice), but there is no clear goal in mind. There are a number of loose ends. Perhaps the anime is a prequel to the story portrayed in the light novels. I couldn't really get attached to any of the characters. They are not relatable in the slightest. There is "some" character growth, but not too much. The main reason for this anime to be for mature audiences is that... See full review

Tower of God

Oct 16, 2021

(Spoiler Free Review)

Minor objectionable content (TV-14). Hmm where to start....? This show is pretty bad, definiately a below average anime. The animation and sound are awesome, but the plot and characters are a mess! Definately a piece of charcoal in a velvet pouch. Reminds me of bad, but popular shows like Noragami or Deadman Wonderland. There is no progress toward the original concept. The plot is stagnant. Character motivation is weak at best. Many important characters, plot devices, and events were not addressed. In some cases, the side characters are more elaborated than the main... See full review

Last Exile

Oct 10, 2021

(Spoiler Free Review) Minor objectionable content (TV-14). This show is a fine gem wrapped in a velvet pouch. Those diamonds are real, period. Last Exile is a must watch for every anime fan. If you don't watch it, then you're missing out on a great story. It is fantastic! Truly one of a kind. The genre is steampunk with an emphasis on flight. Definitely a teenage demographic, but I wouldn't call this anime shounen or shoujo (more of a seinen). Continuous plot with many important events from start-to-finish and a clear goal in mind. That is extremely rare for anime these days. Characters are... See full review

Higehiro: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway

Aug 28, 2021

(Spoiler Free Review) Objectionable content (TV-MA). I kept seeing reviews on this show, so I decided to give it a watch. I know it's subtitled and goes against my persona, but I decided to watch it anyway. (To know what you like, you must know what you dislike.) Speaking of dialogue the professional subtitles on Crunchyroll were terrible... mistranslations, run on sentences, and painful paraphrasing. It was a "read between the lines kind of thing", I believe that a fan-subtitle of the show would have done a better job. As the title suggests, it's a story about a runaway high school girl and a... Horimiya

Aug 13, 2021

(Spoiler Free Review) Minor objectionable content (TV-14). This anime is a really good find, certainly above average. A diamond in the rough. The genre is a romantic comedy with significant focus to the comedy aspect. Some of the moments really have you laughing, especially with facial expressions. Definitely enjoyable.  As for the plot, there are a few issues. The plot is discontinuous as there is a large implied time-skip which isn't mentioned unless you're paying close attention to the dates and background seasons. Let me explain: Most schools in Japan use the trimester schedule... See full review

TONIKAWA: Over the Moon for You

Aug 8, 2021

(Spoiler Free Review) Minor objectionable content (TV-14). An above average anime. The show is certainly enjoyable. It was nice to see the positivities of a newlywed couple. Many cute and lovable scenes with a fast pacing story. Wonderful for rewatching. So, why above average? This show falls short objectively and it has some squandered potential. As mentioned in the anime synopsis: "Nasa Yuzaki falls in love at first sight after an encounter with the mysterious Tsukasa. When Nasa earnestly confesses his feelings, she replies, "I'll date you, but only if we're married." Nasa and... See full review

Masamune-kun's Revenge

Jul 12, 2021

(Spoiler Free Review) No objectionable content (TV-PG). One word to describe this anime is infuriating. The show has so much squandered potential. So much potential wasted, the creator should be ashamed! SHAME, SHAME, SHAME!! Put me in the room, and I would have made a masterpiece. The genre is a standard romantic-comedy between high school teenagers. As usual, the romance is awkward, but some jokes really had me laughing. The plot is continuous, but without a clear goal in mind. sigh. I was on the edge of my seat for a very long time, then they dump you with mediocre events and the most stupid plot... See full review

Jul 3, 2021

(Spoiler Free Review) Minor Objectionable Content (TV-14). This review only applies to season two. If you're looking for my season one review click here: Dubfan's Season One Review. Usually, I would only write one review for both seasons, however season two is a much better anime than season one. They certainly polished-up this story. Definitely an enjoyable show. Diary of Our Days at the Breakwater

Jun 22, 2021

(Spoiler Free Review) No objectionable content (TV-PG). This anime is an infomercial about fishing. Educational, but not entertaining. I do not recommend this show. Skip this one! The story revolves around four high school girls and their common interest in fishing. It is a slice-of-life genre with a sprinkle of comedy for stimulation. The plot is continuous from start-to-finish. Although, the plot is not compelling and the goals are vague. In fact, this anime can be seen as episodic. Characters development is below average with almost zero character attachability. Get used to the original characters... See full review

Convenience Store Boy Friends

Jun 18, 2021

(Spoiler Free Review) No objectionable content (TV-PG). A below average anime. Standard romantic-drama genre with a large emphasis on confusing emotions. Confusion is expected on teenage romance, but this is almost Citrus level character confusion. Plot moves at a very slow pacing. This anime made me sleepy a few times. Some important events that are introduced were not followed though. Albeit, a few scenes are cute. The characters are rather bland and below average. There isn't really anyone unique, it's a cookie cutter mold. (Mold "A" = Character "A".) Many... See full review

D4DJ First Mix

May 29, 2021

(Spoiler Free Review) A diamond in the rough per se. Definitely an under watched anime, but enjoyable nonetheless. I ended up watching the whole story in one night. I recommend giving this show a watch. The anime is set-up as the friendship of high school girls and their shared interest in acoustics. I didn't know the effort that goes into becoming a DJ and mixing music. Its plot is continuous from start-to-finish and has a clear goal in mind (that is a important to note, because many recent animes do not have a clear goal in mind). Another benefit is that this story progresses at a steady pace, it's not... See full review

Gleipnir

May 23, 2021

(Spoiler Free Review) Objectionable content (TV-MA). Gleipnir had a lot of squandered potential. It was like brainstorming, but without a precise goal in mind. There are many unanswered questions. The main plot decided to show up late to the party. The story moved too slow in comparison to the number of characters. The setting was too large. On the plus side the anime has a continuous plot with many events and no gaps. At first glance, the characters are amazing. To use a fishing term, that is the "reel" for this show. Unfortunately, the character growth was not even close to being done... See full review

Deadman Wonderland

Strong objectionable Content (TV-MA). Not suggested for children, minors, or anyone. Well... Calling this show bad is a compliment. I've seen crumpled paper in a wastebasket with more promise. I don't even know where to start. Oh yeah! Let's start at the plot, I almost forgot the show had a plot. Each episode blends together, there isn't really a single standalone moment. I suppose there is a vague goal in mind, but it changes a few times. It's simply fumbling around in the dark looking for something else to avoid losing viewers. The story has many unanswered questions. You ask it, 75% of the time it's... See full review

Violet Evergarden

Apr 19, 2021

(Spoiler Free Review) Minor objectionable content (TV-14). Although, a few scenes can be seen as (TV-MA). This show is a must watch for every anime fan. It took me three attempts and many tissues to finish this anime. The plot is developed and continuous from start-to-finish. That is a great quality in any narrative. As for characters there really is only one character Violet, none of the other characters have any depth or individuality. Although, the story makes up for this downside with vast character growth. The major problem with the show blurs the lines between the drama and action genres... See full review

Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina

Apr 15, 2021

(Spoiler Free Review) Minor objectionable content (TV-14). I really liked this show, but the show does fall short objectively. The anime is episodic, which means that each individual episode gives a mini-story. Some of the stories really touch your heart, other stories do not. In fact each individual story can be rated differently. (This is seen in every episodic show.) Characters are lovable and above average. There is some character growth, but not much. I really like Elaina as a character. Great animation and sound.  All in all, I rate this anime 6/10 -- above average. Give it a... See full review

K-On!!

Mar 16, 2021

This review is only for the second season of K-On! (K-On!!). I didn't even know there was a second season until recently. Compared to the first season, the second season was a major disappointment. The environment, characters, and group dynamics were already established and remain the same. Some of the secondary characters were elaborated. The plot drags along at the turtle speed. Although the show did have a few moments, but mainly it was the goofing around aspects for 26 episodes. It felt like a super long OVA rather than a new season. Not bad, but it should have been better. My expectations were... See full review

Okko's Inn Movie

Mar 7, 2021

(Spoiler Free Review) Minor objectionable content (TV-PG). A fine gem, your missing out if you don't watch it. It's a very heart touching story about a young girl assisting at her family's inn. A continuous and linear plot, which is normal for movies. The key that makes this movie special is the depth that is placed on the human psyche. (I was confused at first, because it goes against the standard norms. Most animes avoid "detachment from reality" in character development.) Characters are lovable and there is vast character growth. The animation is beautiful, however the sound needs some... See full review

Rent-a-Girlfriend

Feb 25, 2021

Objectionable content (TV-MA). If you are easily offended, then do not watch this show. I was wondering what all the fuss was about, so I decided to watch this show. The story revolves around the protagonist Kazuya Kinoshita and his college experience with love. We see in the first thirty~ seconds, that the relationship with his girlfriend does not end well. He stumbles upon a company, Diamond, which allows clients to pay for dates (non-sexual escorts). The plot is continuous, but it's too slow for a single season. There are many unresolved events. This anime is below average. It is a slice-of-life show with a romantic undertone. The story is composed of several short skits none really in relation to the others. There isn't much of a plot nor clear direction. It's as if they are stumbling around in the dark trying to find something to accomplish. No goal in mind. (Spoiler Free Review) No objectionable content (TV-PG). I came looking for copper and found gold. This show exceeds expectations in every way. Good thing that I wait until an entire show is released before watching, because I ended up watching all twelve episodes in a single night. The story is of a father and young daughter sharing their everyday lives. The catch is that the father is a raunchy manga artist who doesn't want his innocent daughter to know the truth about his work. There is a time-skip jump on most episodes which really makes the show. (Spoiler Free Review) Minor objectionable content (TV-14). This anime is certainly enjoyable, but it is hard to rate it high objectively. It falls short on both plot development and character growth. Dr. Stone is a standard shounen anime and (as with most shounen anime) doesn't have a clear goal for the plot. There is a vague overarching plot, but any paths have yet to be determined. I believe that multiple seasons are anticipated.
