Heavy Object

Jul 13, 2020

This show is underrated. This is a fun mecha-ish anime. If you're browsing for something to watch, I suggest looking into it. The idea behind the show is fantastic, the creation of a new weapon complete changes the view of wars. The setting is after fall of the United Nations the world is split into four relevent nations; the Legitimate Kingdom, the Intelligence Union, the Faith Organization, and the Capital Enterpize. Each nation has its quirks and is continuously at war with the other three nations for territory. A massive weapon know as an "object" was created and changed the view of these wars. If an "object" is destoryed, then the battle has been won. The story unfolds around three characters Milinda Blantini (Princess), Qwenthur Barpotage, and Havia Winchel and their roles in the 37th Consolidation Maneuver Battalion of the Legitimate Kingdom. The story is comprized into a small segment of missions and perfectly organized by the episode titles. The plot and interest unravel depending on which mission. I enjoyed the outstanding methods to destroy "objects" and their relationships to physical and political elements. There isn't much character development, however the characters are enjoyable nontheless. I sympathized with some of the "villains". The animation and sound are beautiful. Heavy Object has similar qualities to the Gundam series, but it takes a more realistic approach. There is violence and a bit of fan service, not recommended for children.

5/10 story
9/10 animation
9/10 sound
8/10 characters
7/10 overall
