Mr. Villain's Day Off

Great laid-back show with minimal fighting sequences as it isn't about the fight but the life outside of it.

Phantom of the Idol

Sep 22, 2022

Zings is a duo Idol group stuck playing in small underground clubs the lead member Yoshino is outgoing and the most popular as Yuuya is the complete opposite. Yuuya is lazy, tired, and just in it for the money however he still has fans who apprecitate his easy going attitude.  After a concert Yuuya sits down on a bench and beside him is Asahi Mogami who Yuuya never heard of. He asks Yoshino and he says that she was the most popular Idol until her death a year ago.  Only Yuuya can see Asahi and Asahi wants to be an Idol again.  You get where I am going?  Asahi tries to teach yuuya how... Lycoris Recoil

Sep 22, 2022

Now this is a show I was pleasantly surprised about. Now there is a Yuri tag. Just forget about that.  This is about the partnership of two high school age females who belong to a secret organization keeping Japan safe.  Chisato and Takina are the main focal points of the show where everything revolves around them, and it all started when Takina opened fire in a botched gun deal where an agent or "Lycoris" was held hostage. Takina was let go and was sent to Cafe Lyco Reco where she meets Chisato. Reluctant at this easy going girl and wondering how she ever... See full review

Black Summoner

Sep 22, 2022

Okay Im gonna sound weird here but here me out. I enjoyed the dumbness of the show. There I said it. Phew.  Anyways if you can't tell from the other reviews yes this show is a generic mess of the isekai genre. However the CGI fight with the black knight was low-key Video Game quality (good) and I was actually surprised that within this mess the animators did put in a decent finishing result. The problem here is within the source material and dialogue. The MC is a battle junkie who told the goddess when he was reincarnated to remove his memories for extra stat points to put into skills. SO with that... See full review

Kite

Apr 5, 2022

I don't understand the hate this gets. Maybe if you watched the uncensored version I get it but the plot of it was actually interesting. Although in the uncensored version theres like 8 additional minutes of gratuitous child sex scenes that may feel uncomfortable you can just skip it if you watch the censored (of course) however the last one which is the longest is actually somewhat important to the plot as it was meant to mess with Oburi, which he does get his revenge for.  The ending I never saw coming and it was because of some BS reason which hurt even more as the perpetrator never... Thermae Romae

Mar 31, 2022

I enjoyed the show, it was a really well done take on the isekai genre where Lucius Modernus drowns conviently everytime he goes to Japan. At first when I heard about this show I thought it was about him going to Japan and starting a bath house using Roman techniques yet that wasn't the case more like the opposite way around. The only drawback being that some of the experiences he had in Japan took way to long and it would've been cool to see more of the result and/or construction of the bath house instead of a timeskip where we see the result.

She Professed Herself Pupil of the Wise Man

Mar 30, 2022

So is this show a video game isekai like Log Horizon? I have no clue. I feel somewhat sad that I didn't enjoy this show because I enjoyed some of the director's (Keitarou Motonaga) other projects like Jormungand, Persona 3, and Date A Live. Plot/Rant: Theres an old wizard named Danbalf in the video game Arch Earth Online, however what confuses me is that the guy controlling him falls asleep for 30 YEARS while trying on a new character design and it changes his appearance to a female child (with a posh british accent dub).  HE WAS "GONE" FOR THIRTY YEARS, yet the description said... Kotaro Lives Alone

Mar 11, 2022

Cute, heartwarming, and some sad moments Kotaro lives alone is a great watch for anyone who wants to feel jealous as well as sad towards the young kindergardner who lives by himself in apartment 203.  The animation is simplistic and with the animation with the anime tonosaman which bears resemblance to Doraemon but human like. We also get to Kotaro's neighbors like unsuccessful manga artist Shin Karino, thug with a kind soul Isamu Tamaru, and the hostess club girl Mizuki Akimoto who has a boyfriend who lives off her money. However the comedy about this is that Kotaro seems more mature than... See full review

Sword Art Online

Dec 29, 2021

For a new anime watcher this is a good introductory show. Similar to My Hero Academia and how its a good show which introduces the shounen genre early on in the show, SAO for example is a good choice to introduce the isekai genre.  Though it may be different for serious anime watchers in my opinion the way the characters and story lines are introduced were intriguing yet the later in the episodes we go on we notice the larger conspiracy within the world which deviates from the plot the viewer might've been getting familiar with. Introducing AI children, forced marriages, cult like religions formed in... See full review

Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody

Nov 15, 2021

I saw the PV with the carriage and the harem and I thought nice and Isekai harem thats not cultured.  Anyways whle watching each episode and seeing his harem accumulate the one thought that was occuring through my head was: When is he getting the carriage?  Well its not until the final 3-4 episodes where he makes a deal with a merchant or whoever that guy was and got it.  Well anyways back to the review. A normal programmer who did a "death march" to finish programming bugs at the last minute at a black company falls asleep and doesn't wake up. Instead he finds himself in the... See full review

RE-MAIN

Oct 4, 2021

This potentially clichéd Water Polo version of any sports anime had a twist in the beginning of episode 1 where the main character Minato wakes up from his coma. For the last 203 days he was asleep which made him lose his memories of the last three years of middle school where he was the best water polo player in Japan. In the meantime, he forgets his former teammates who are happy to see him finally awake but regretful that he doesn't remember who they are.  Come High School he is eager to play water polo again to get his memories and also make new ones with new people. However, the one... See full review

Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles

Sep 21, 2021

An average show with classic isekai plot with cat girls, magic school, nobles, superiority complexes against the poor MC, OP abilities, quick battles that probably didn't do the manga justice, etc.  Now it's because of all of those things that I always watch these shows and I don't know why. I just like this genre even though it's so overused. I mean the worst isekai this season (Summer 2021) has to be that Pharmacist show because there is no plot development the MC is a magnet for all of these people and somehow, he figures out a problem by using secret blends of herbs and spices; however, they don't... If It's for My Daughter, I'd Even Defeat a Demon Lord

Jul 14, 2021

The best girl is Latina but that is it. Latina is a demon banished by her tribe who was subsequently found by 18-year-old adventurer Dale. This show is filled with cute moments and not much else. It's one of those chill fantasy shows where you don't have to worry about a demon lord invasion killing off a whole town; though bad demons do play a minor part in the plot of an episode.  The show tries to spice things up by introducing cooking though it makes little sense why, the only reason given is that she wants to be more of a help, but she is 8 when Dale found her and 10 when the season finishes (not... If My Favorite Pop Idol Made it to the Budokan, I Would Die

Jun 21, 2021

“Perseverance is a virtue that cannot be understated.” This show isn't as much as a music show like Idolish7 as it mainly focuses on the devotion of Cham Jam's fanbase or should I say fan toward one girl: Maina. Eripiyo works several part time jobs to pay for her obsession to her the least popular member of the girl group Cam Jam. Although Eripyo wants Maina to succeed over time Maina soon grows concerned over her lone fan's devotion which is a nice change to these shows which are mainly focused on the music or behind the scenes aspects and NOT the fans who popularize the... Mirai no Watashi

Jun 15, 2021

Never has a piece of company propaganda make me want to work for them. The story of a female protagonist with no ambitions, suddenly gets what she is after with admiring her managers work ethic. Though the attractive customers walking in and getting their food is unrealistic to American standards in Japan it is probably normal. Everyone smiles without giving a thought that they are most definitely getting paid under $8 an hour. I got to admit the animation is top notch and the love story between the MC and her fast-food job is amazing. To be frank, I thought it was a Yuri between her and the manager... See full review

Yaoi vibes even though its not one. This show starts off on a scene similar to a motorcycle gang show but it soon turns dramatic, as the people on the bike get into an accident. Flash forward a year later when we see Yuzuki, who is limping with his best friend Sei we find out Yuzuki was the second person on the bike who is forced to stop playing the game of rugby due to a spinal hernia he sustained from the motorcycle accident.  He becomes the team manager albeit never being one in the first place and starting off on a rocky note. He then gets Yuu a smart yet not that athletic player to... See full review

Detroit Metal City: Birth of the Metal Devil

Thought it was a Beck or Nana about a heavy metal band trying to jumpstart their career but boy was I wrong.  The idea of it is that there a shy and introverted young kid Souichi Negishi is fresh out of college is the lead singer of a heavy metal rock band that's a combination of Kiss, Ozzy Osbourne, and ear rape. The bands manager is a total uh... weirdo? Sex addict? creep? Maybe its actually all three.  Souichi is the only sane member of the group who deals with an internal monologue of him wanting to do something different like wants singing actual songs about love like Jason Mraz... May 21, 2021

It's not great but it's not terrible, its below average but not sub-par more like an ordinary Chinese anime or Donghua. This show is pretty popular and has FOUR seasons with a fifth on the way.  Mo Fan doesn't reincarnate to another world like most shows instead he meets an old man who transports him to a different reality of the present where magic exists, although the show doesn't go deeper than that. He is in the lower class and his father has to beg a former employer who is an influential member at a magic academy to allow Mo Fan to attend the entrance examination, although everyone expects him to... Yuri!!! on Ice

May 17, 2021

Although I watch Yaoi and sports animes, when I kept on hearing that this show was great I kept on wondering "How good was it?"  Then when I was bored after catching up on my shows on a slow day I put it on to try it out, and if I have to be honest I  wasn't that enthralled with it as most people were. Although the episodes were well animated with great choreography and dialogue the show itself was like and I'm going to sound dumb here but like No. 6 but instead of a dystopian setting it was professional figure skating. Sure, both Yuri's had a chemistry that one could tell when... See full review

The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter

Mar 29, 2021

This was not what I was expecting.  The first three episodes had potential but after the fourth it went downhill. I first thought this show was going to be about how the MC has to survive magic school with harem elements but I was dead wrong. From a weird harem contest to a mythical beast with a rose on its head acting as a pair of genitalia? WHAT! The animation during fight scenes were not the best like other shows in the same genre, I wouldn't suggest binging this show. There are better shows you could waist time watching.

Kino's Journey

Mar 29, 2021

This show is more psychological experiment then motorcycle journey slice of life that I thought it was going to be. Each country which Kino visits with Hermes has a different culture where everything is different. It's cool seeing the thought and depth the creators took to give each country a different personality, like a secondary character. This show reminds me somewhat of Che Guevara's motorcycle diaries, where his travels throughout South America gave him a different perspective of the other class than how he was brought up. It's similar to that because in episode 6 Kino travels to a country... See full review

Burn the Witch

The show had so much potential but it didn't succeed. Don't compare this show to a dumpster fire it's more like a room temperature soda, sure it sucks but if you would have waited a while then it would be cold. Thats Burn The Witch.  The showrunners rushed this show into production, they drank that room temperature soda instead of waiting for it to become better. The main antagonist although I'm not sure what his affiliation is, seemed like he was a uptight bureaucratic good guy with an attitude, however he randomly showed up on top of a building after an explosion claiming that the who thing was... As a punishment for being unpleasant he is made to join a club with Yukino Yukinoshita, an attractive and intelligent girl who doesn't have any friends either, the purpose of the club is to help people with whatever problems they have. Recovery of an MMO Junkie

If you're the type of person who likes slow shows where there's one meaningful moment that leads to nothing then everything comes into fruition at the end then this romance show is for you!  Though the plot reminds me of the Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan classic "You've Got Mail" except replace AOL with an MMO game it is a more current telling of this kind of story. Although I have seen romance shows before like Wotakoi, Monthly girls Nozaki-kun, Yamadas first time, and Re-life however this is not one of my favorite romances.  I'm the type of person who likes to move fast down a waterslide... Yamada's First Time: B Gata H Kei

Mar 5, 2021

This show is in my opinion one of the most satisfying romance anime's I have seen. This is a lewd and sexually active show yet the fan-service was well done and by that I mean its part of the plot and its for comedic situations. For example Yamada wants Kosuda to see her bra or Yamada shows up to school with no panties and she is paranoid the entire episode that a gust of wind will blow her skirt up but it doesn't until the end of the episode when Kosuda walks in at the right time, although you don't see anything just Kosuda's face and Yamada's embarrassed reaction.  The plot revolves around Yamada an... This is more like a guilty pleasure isekai for me, why? Because everything is generic isekai, OP MC, Harem, huge following, bringing Japanese food to this new culture, and a dungeon. I liked it when it came out and when I want to watch something lighthearted and quick, I'd turn this on.  Others might not like it but you have to watch it as an idiot or a noob to isekai because you don't know any better.
