Can't say I've ever seen a show like this before, the story is really crazy yet held my interest throughout due to the twists and turns that the show threw at me. Video review will explain more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIo3E6wyQqA BBFC rating - 18 for strong sexual threat

Heaven's Memo Pad

Jan 14, 2015

I greatly enjoyed this little show, despite its jarring tonal problems, one moment its funny, next moment it gets really dark. The characters aren't really that memorable, they aren't annoying or anything, with Alice really being the only one with a rounded personality. Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage

Jan 14, 2015

Well another second season next to spice and wolf that disapointed me. I thought Black Lagoon was about the Lagoon company partaking in jobs, but that completely gets forgotten in this season, Benny and Dutch taking a back seat to everything, with Rock and Revy being the stars. However the arcs presented in this anime, just aren't interesting except for the twins at the start of the show. The last arc which takes up half of the show is so dull and so uninteresting because I just did not care about this character. Character development is completely side tracked in favour of action. Black Lagoon

Jan 14, 2015

Black Lagoon is a whole lot of fun, the action is great, the animation also, but the highlight of the series is the interactions and developing relationship between Rock and Revy. Fate/Zero

Jan 19, 2014

The things that bugged me in Fate/Stay Night aren't present in Fate/Zero, for starters the show actually checks in on all seven masters and servants who are taking part in the war and shows the viewer what they are doing when they aren't fighting, this in turn gave them more development because I could actually conect to them then and understand them, unlike Fate/Stay Night. Fate/stay night

Jan 19, 2014

While watching Fate/Stay Night I found the actually Holy Grail War aspect of the show to be incredibly dull, due to a great lack of character development for the masters and servants. Why the 8 then? Because the developing relationship of Shiro and Saber was fantastic and over the course of the show they both affect each other in different ways - their romance was brilliant and luckily they are in the show 90% of the time, but getting through all the boring battles and the discussion of the war was a chour to get through: More in video review: ... Samurai Bride

Jan 7, 2014

Unlike Samurai Girls, Samurai Bride has a really unfocused story and it introduces way too many new characters. The four dark samurai's are very weak villians compared to Gisen in Samurai Girls, however I do like the main characters and that's pretty much why I kept watching, nor is the show ever boring. If you liked/loves Samurai Girls then yeah I mildly recomend this, if you hated it then you probably won't like this one either. Attack on Titan

Nov 8, 2013

SPOILER WARNING!!! Attack on Titan has an amazing premise and that's the only reason I wanted to watch it; when I read the premise I had in my mind that this could be a really heavy, shocking and emotional show. I got that in the first 2 episodes and everything was oh so epic; as I went further it got more interesting and then the shocking ending of episode 5 happened, when Eren 'died'. I was like man, this anime is going to be awesome, they just did a bold thing there by killing off the main character, it's going to be like Game of Thrones man, anyone can die. Fast forward to the end of episode 8; Eren is... See full review

Tales of Vesperia ~The First Strike~

Nov 8, 2013

*Reviewed from an outsiders perspective as I know nothing about the video game* The story for the most part seemed very slow and I was introduced to things that I had no idea about (like blastia) and some random cameo's from characters I assume are from the game, that go no where. It did pick up though in the second half, the two main characters were interesting and well developed, same with their commanding officer. Animation is great, soundtrack is great; from an outsiders point of view I really enjoyed it, though I'm sure fans of the game will get more out of it. It's just a fun film to me. More in... Shigurui: Death Frenzy

Nov 8, 2013

Shigurui is vile disgusting trash - the gratuitous use of violence really distracts from the characters and what little story the anime is trying to tell - people have told me that it's trying to resemble the brutal Samurai era of fedual Japan, in that case it works, there's misogyny, there's harakiri, there's rape, murder, everything; but there's no interesting story here, as we follow these two incredibly unlikeable characters. I can't route for these guys, I can't feel any sympathy for them, escpically when they do these horrible things. Violence has to have a narrative purpose instead of just being... See full review

Black Rock Shooter TV

Aug 3, 2013

Black Rock Shooter is 8 episodes long, an incredibly short anime, but I spent nearly all of the anime terribly confused and only when it reached episode 8 did everything sort of make sense, but it's too late anime, the damage has been done. The anime seemed to be terribly confused as to what it wanted to be: did it want to be a science fiction anime with alot of fighting? A school life anime that focuses on these mentally unstable school girls? It couldn't make it's mind, so it decided to be both, even though it hardly makes sense. For a fight scene to work I have to get invested with what they are... See full review

Mardock Scramble: The Second Combustion

Aug 3, 2013

The first was great and this one slightly improves on the orginal with the continuing story of Rune Balton, as the film begins exactly where the first one left off and this film focuses on Rune re-covering from her wonds in a place called Paradice, then it switches to a rather intresting game of gamberling in the second half. The first one had alot of action and was very fast, while it is the same length as the first one, there is hardly action in it and Rune Balton's revenge starts to become less violent as it was in the first one, but I find it more interesting... Paranoia Agent

Jul 10, 2013

Paranoia Agent is a very confusing and trippy seires, with each episode focusing on different characters leading up to them getting attacked by Shonen Batto; each episode is a self contained story, but never leaving out the detectives who are trying to solve the case. I enjoyed the first three episodes, then it got boring and it really came back in episode 8 - this episode is about three members of an internet suicide pact, with their goal throughout the whole episode being to kill themselves; it's certainly the best and most intresting episode and I'd really love it more if the whole seires was about these... Samurai Girls

May 30, 2013

I do love ecchi's and harems and Samurai Girls is one of the best I have seen. Not only are the characters (except for Kanetsugu, she was incredibly annoying) all interesting and in their own way like-able but the plot took very unexpected turns and the story got quite dark, when they introduced Gisen who turned out to be a brilliant villan. The animation is also really unique and I haven't seen an animation style like this before. More in video review: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LB1onliKUcI BBFC rating - 18 for strong sex... Spice and Wolf II

May 12, 2013

The first season is outstanding, but unfortantly not all second seasons turn out like Clannad After Story. I don't think I've ever been so disapointed with an anime before; tha main plot of Spice and Wolf, from the first season was Lawrence taking Holo up north, with threats and stuff along the way, now that worked in the first season because they were constantly on the road and we saw the lovely countryside and everything else this world has to offer, yet this season thinks it's wise to keep everything self contained in two towns, because there's only two story arcs. Also the main charm of the first season... See full review

Spice and Wolf is rather unique for a fantasy anime; it doesn't focus on fighting, magic, action ect it focuses more on religion, trade, economics, money amongest other thing. Children Who Chase Lost Voices

Apr 5, 2013

This is Makoto Shinkai's follow up to his masterpiece 5 Centimetres Per Second and while it doesn't reach the emotional heights of that anime, Children Who Chase Lost Voices is still a thrilling, gorgeous, orginal, creative and highly entertaining adventure. The characters aren't really memorable or developed though and the fantasy setting does make me feel very emotionally alienated from what is happening (the complete oposite is true in 5CPS) and the film really outstays it's 2 hour running time, with padded out scenes and pointless characters they introduce. But just sit back and soak in the visuals, the... See full review

Tales from Earthsea

Jan 13, 2013

Deemed to be Studio Ghibli's worst film; I went in thinking 'it's from Studio Ghibli how bad can it be?'. I don't know if I'm looking to deeply into it, but this is possibley one of the worst film I have ever seen and it all comes from the story and the character, the two biggest parts of the film and they fuck it up. In the first 5 mins Prince Arren kills his farther the King, for possibly no reason and the movie wants us to feel sorry for him. Fuck you movie, I'm not going to feelsorry for a rich Prince who for no reason killed his farther and this guy is the King, right? So how come no one in the film... See full review

Ouran High School Host Club

Dec 23, 2012

Story? Doesn't matter. Animation? Not good but it does the job well. Nothing else matters, all that matters is the Characters. It's a 26 episode anime, very long yes, but my motavation for watching all episodes was the Characters, they are all like-able, developed and the series used it's time up well (except episode 13, which was a pointless filler). This is way the anime gets a high rating, because of the characters, they make the series enjoyable. More in video review: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyjPD2_RL2Q BBFC rating ... See full review

Angel Beats!

Nov 2, 2012

Angel Beats has a brilliant interesting premise and really memorable characters; however alot of character back stories are left untold at the end or some aren't finished. This is such a shame as one of the main themes to do with the anime is death and it just left me wanting to know how the characters died. The animation and soundtrack are flawless, but the lack of focus in the story and leaving such important characters with untold back stories, makes me feel that this anime should of been longer. It's a great anime, but I feel like it could of been a masterpiece if it took more time to develop these... See full review

Enjoying this anime is mostly based on your humour; if you find vulgar nonsensicle sex jokes funny then you'll really love the anime. Clannad After Story

Aug 6, 2012

My main problem with Clannad After Story is the first 8 episodes; those episodes really serve no purpose then to develope side characters from Clannad who don't really need developing. I just wanted to see Tomoyo and Nagsias' relationship develop - however after episode 8 this soely becomes the focus of the series - the ups and downs of there relationship and Tomoyo really develops into one animes best characters. Episodes 16-22 have some of the saddest moments I have ever seen from an anime and will test those with hearts of stone (I sobbed about 3 times during those episodes - episode 18 was the... Howl's Moving Castle

May 21, 2012

I give the anime high marks for creativity and having some of the best animation in the business, but the anime seems to be lacking a plot and characters to back it up. There is no focus in the story and it seems to be just throwing random events and beings/creatures at us with no ryhme or reason; there are side characters that also go no where and there motivations change in a instant. It's a shame, because we have the world, the set up and the creativity, but we don't have a strong and focused story to go around it. Feb 20, 2012

Charming is the ultimate word to describe this film. And from a Studio Ghibli film I don't think you would expect anything more, it isn't high on emotions like some of the studios previous efforts, but it has an extreamly like-able female lead in Arrietty and some of the best use in music I've seen from an anime, the music and soundtrack really up the experience and soely thanks to the music it offers very memorable scenes.
