Hello Yuuki. :) - Presumably, 'depth' is referring to its overall approach? If so, another mecha series from Sunrise, the studio responsible for Code Geass, would have a similar feel. I'd recommend Gundam 00; it's completely standalone and therefore it's not a requirement to watch anything else from the franchise (Seed and Wing are two others). But yes, to reiterate, I'd recommend Gundam 00. Alternatively, I'd agree with the rest and recommend Eureka Seven, even though I wouldn't really compare the anime series to Code Geass. Despite both featuring mecha, they're actually quite different. Offhand, Macross Frontier, Zegapain and Bounen no Xamdou are worth considering, especially Macross Frontier, which I'd recommend second to Gundam 00. Hope this helps. :)
I remember thinking Edward wasn't that great. There was nothing hate-able about him, but nothing awesome about him either... well at least in my opinion. I liked his brother more for some reason. Being voiced by Rie Kugimiya helped I think. :p

I think you'd really enjoy One Piece Yuu. Don't be deterred by the size of it - it's worth the time. Possibly one of my favourite anime actually...
As for our anime compatibility, i'll reserve judgement till you've seen most of what i've seen and love/hate. :p
It was one of those odd series - by odd I mean like, to most people it's pretty good - that I just didn't click with. I didn't like the two main characters that much either. :P
I think Hajime no Ippo is a series that most would enjoy. I can see why people are put off it. I, too, was put off by the boxing theme originally. Despite that I kept watching more episodes and reeled into the series. Ippo is a lovable character. :)

Well I didn't see the first season, that's what the manga was for =p Guilty was brilliant leave my favourite series' alone *disapproving face*
