Actually, I don’t know how to answer your question. I’ve never thought about how to cope with my ADHD. I just do it, you know? I’ve also got Asperger’s, so I’m more aware of that than my ADHD. The biggest “problem” of my ADHD would be the lack of concentration I have. I space out a lot, and most  of the time I’m not aware of my surroundings at all. I guess I can describe it as a temporary malfunction? (I’m not entirely sure if this is fully due to ADHD or if it’s also caused by my Asperger’s.) Like, all people get this feeling where they know they’re spacing out but don’t mind it, right? Well, when I space out I’m not aware of it until I come back from spacing out. It’s like I’m gone at those moments, which is probably caused by to much stimulus. I’ve had this for as long as I can remember and there is nothing I can do about it. Most of the time, I’m okay with it but it really is a nuisance when I’m studying. Like, when I was studying for college exams, most of the time I studied from 10 am till 11 pm (if not later) and a lot of the time I was only able to study 5 pages in that timeframe because I spaced out so many times. So yeah, concentrating in general is really hard for me. I mean, when I have to concentrate on something important, like a meeting on an internship or something, then I can but then I really have to focus very hard and it’s exhausting as hell. Overall, I’m a pretty calm person but there are moments that I can get REALLY hyperactive. Like, then I won’t be able to sit still or stop singing or yelling for fun and stuff. xD So to answer your question, I don’t really know how I cope with it. I’ve never been officially diagnosed so I don’t take any medication (if I was diagnosed, I still wouldn’t take medication for it). My ADHD and Asperger’s also go hand in hand and they kinda influence each other, so it’s not like they both have rituals that I can prevent or something. It’s something I learned to live with, you know? So yeah, this was a long reply to your question and it probably didn’t make you any wiser either xD

Thank you so much for the recommendations! They all look good, especially Borstal Boy. o_o I’m really into WW2 (it’s kinda a thing between me and my dad), so I’m really looking forward to it! I’ll check them out when I feel like it. I’m really fixated on manga atm, so I’m going to stick with that for a while, now that I can still concentrate on it. xD

Now that I think about it. I once saw a BL movie from The Netherlands and it was really good. I was surprised that I liked it so much. I can look up the name if you’re interested? I’m not sure if it has good translations though. Also, I realized just now that I don’t even know if my own country has BL movies. x’D

You’re welcome for the recommendations. Let me know if you want other recommendations. ^^

To be honest, there’s a lot wrong with some BL manga, especially the rape or forced scenes. But yeah, what can we do.

Dude I’m so glad that you liked Addicted. It’s one of my favorites but I’m always hesitant about what others think due to the forced scenes. I don’t remember any fight scenes though, which is bad because I’ve watched that show two times already. xD The actors got along really well with each other behind the scenes too, so that might have had an impact on the outcome of the show. Oh no, there isn’t going to be a season two. The Chinese government did ban the entire show. I mean, there is going to be a season two but it’s going to be filmed in Taiwan with other actors. Or at least, the author hinted that there are going to be other actors. I myself think it’s impossible for the original cast to be part of the second season. It’s said that the main actors from Addicted are banned by the Chinese government to be seen with each other in public. I don’t know if it’s true but it wouldn’t surprise me if it is. So I’m not really up to date about the second season because I’m not sure if I want to see it if it’s with other actors, you know?

I understand that. xD I really am a book lover. I’ve got over 60 books but I actually don’t read often. I’ve got ADHD so it’s hard for me to concentrate. Recently, I got into manga and it’s waaay easier to concentrate on that. So yeah I feel you on sticking to this format. xD

The only jdrama I recognize is “no touching at all”. It’s been on my to-watch list on MyDramaList for a while now. I just realized that it’s the live action adaptation from the manga with the same name. 😭 Irish recommendations? Hell yes, I love that accent so much! Do you know any Irish BL?

As for my recommendations, I don’t know many jdramas. I’ve been watching BL tv shows for a year now, and most of them are from Thailand or Taiwan. (Seriously, At this point I can understand Thai sentences without subs and I’ve only been watching it for a year, so that proves how many I’ve watched already xD) Basically, Thailand is the king when it comes to BL (seriously they have and produce SO MANY BL shows) and next is Taiwan. So I’m not sure if you’re up for that but I’m going to recommend a couple.

The first BL show I ever watched is “HIStory3: Trapped” and it’s from Taiwan. It follows 2 couples. The main couple is a police officer and a gang leader, and the other couple is another police officer and the right hand of the gang leader. It sounds pretty cliché, but back then it was the first time I watched this kind of storyline because I wasn’t into manga yet. Anyway, there is more to the story than that, like the police officer investigating a murder case and stuff. To be honsest, it had some moments where second hand embarrassment was huge but that was because of the character’s personalities. The acting itself wasn’t awkward at all. They kinda went all in when it came to the intimate scenes lol. I really loved this one, but I might be biased because it was the first one I’ve ever watched. Plus, there was bisexual representation and I thought that was freaking awesome because I’m bi myself lol

The second one is “HIStory2: Boundary Crossing”. This one also follows two couples. They’re all friends. The main couple is a volleyball-trainer and a volleyball-player, and the second one is about step-brothers. This show was very cute and had one of the best kissing scenes ever hehe

(Extra information: the HIStory stories aren’t related. They’re all named HIStory because they have the same makers I think. There is also another HIStory2 and another HIStory3 (different names), which means that there is a two-part HIStory 1 too but they’re not the best. I didn’t really like the other HIStory2, and the other HIStory3 was good but very tragic. I don’t know where you watch your shows but I watched it on Viki and both History2’s are combined into one, so you might have to skip the first four episode because that’s the other HIStory2)

I also highly recommend “Long Time No See”, which is a kdrama and it’s about assassins/hitmen. This one is pretty short, so I’ve rewatched it several times already. It’s pretty rare to have BL kdramas so yeah I really loved this one.

“Where Your Eyes Linger” aired recently and it’s also a BL kdrama. This really is a short watch, like there only 8 episodes with a duration of 10 minutes. It’s about a high school student and his bodyguard. Though, they let everyone believe that their childhood friends because they don’t want anyone to know about the master-servant realtionship due to reasons. Yet again, I might be biased about loving this one because BL kdramas are rare.

Another recommendation is “Seven Days: Friday - Sunday” and “Seven Days: Monday - Thursday”. These are Japanese movies about high schoolers falling in love. It’s pretty slow-paced but I really liked it because it was the first time I saw one from Japan. Beside that, it’s based on the manga “Seven days”. You might know that one?

The last one is “TharnType” and it’s from thailand. It’s about a homophobic college boy (he has his reasons) who happens to have a gay roommate. I’m not going to lie, there were things I didn’t like. Like, that boy has legit reasons to be homophobic but he did some things I couldn’t tolerate at all. Besides that, there were some consensual issues. Overall, I really loved this show but that has a lot to do with the intimate scenes. These are the most steamy ones I’ve ever seen. o_o These actors really gave everything they got.

I can recommend way more but I guess I’ll start with these. xD

Ah really I’m not gonna read that manga then. I freaking hate it when people make fun of these things. I definitly wasn’t talking about the bullying part because I can’t tolerate that either. The husband/wife part that I talked about has nothing to do with appearance but with the seme/uke roles. I don’t like it but the husband/wife thing based on appearance is even worse.

I really love Addicted, though it has major consensual/consent issues. (It’s like 2 am here and my brain is not really working so I’m not sure what the right term is xD). I’ve read the two novels so I had way more background information when I watched it, so I’m not sure if you’re going to like it to be honest.

Hey your welcome ^^  Honestly after I realized it's so short, I wished it was 10-20 minutes long. Then I saw your comment :D

I checked it and it has almost 1500 pages. xD But I think that’s pretty normal for Chines novels. I’ve read about 6 Chinese novels now and they all had so many pages. Though, I’ve read it online so it didn’t feel like it had so many. xD

I got into BL tv shows about a year ago, so I’ve seen a lot of shows from China, Taiwan, Thailand, The Philippines, South Korea and Japan. That’s indeed why I’m used to China’s censorship. I also understand what you mean about that jdrama being awkward and stuff. Some are indeed awkward as hell. xD But I’ve seen reeaaaly good ones too, so if you want me to recommend some, let me know. :)

Yeah, I hope I’m not going to offend anyone whit this but I think that China is one of the worst countries when it comes to accepting LGBT. I’m not saying all people from China are like that. Maybe some are more accepting than people from other countries, I don’t know that. But what I know, is that the government isn’t accepting at all. What was what called? The show that got banned? Because that one is called Addicted. The show is unfinished because it got banned and they were not allowed to air the last episodes I guess. I feel you on The Untamed feeling unfinished without their love. I felt exactly the same, maybe even worse, when I watched a cdrama for the first time because of the censorship. I think I should have explained the ‘wife’ part better, because it isn’t meant to be bullying or something. xD You know, after watching SO many BL tv shows and after reading so many BL novels, I noticed that there is some kind of “husband/wife” culture. Don’t ask me why, but the seme gets called the husband and the uke the wife. Like, I don’t know why because they’re both men but it’s a thing. Mostly, they get called like that by fans but there are a couple of shows where the seme is like “you’re my wife”. Yeah, I don’t get it but it is what it is. I don’t think it has anything to do with looking feminine or something. At first, I thought it was cute too but then it got a bit annoying?

Oh yeah that one! I have it on my to-read list but now I’m a bit hesitant if it’s a tearjerker. x’D

Joohoneyackson Aug 21, 2020

That I understand! But I think it has a lot to do with the novel. It has something like over 1000 pages and there are A LOT of details in it. Besides that, I think it’s pretty common for cdramas to have so much episodes? Or maybe it’s a coincidence that all the cdramas I came across with had so many episodes. xD Were you really saddened by his death? That’s the one I was pretty okay with xD And yes, the censorship in China is crazy. I’m already used to it, so it didn’t bother me much. I mean, I still freaking hate it because I’m part of the LGBT community myself but yeah I’m used to China’s censorship. I’ve read several BL novels from China and they all have live action adaptations but it’s just bromance, except for one but that one literally got banded by the Chinese government because it got so popular. It’s sad, it’s so freaking sad, so I agree with you that it doesn’t feel right that they delete something like this from the original work. But I think The Untamed did the best they could. They tried to show Wei Wuxian and Lan Zhan’s love in every way possible, like with the looks they gave each other and the way the protected each other and stuff. It was subtle but it was there. Besides that, I feel like the cast, crew and directors were okay with it being BL. Like, there are behind the scenes vids and in one of them the actor who plays Wei Wuxian is complaining that he’s hungry, and because of that a crew member says “Lan Zhan, your wife is hungry” to Lan Zhan’s actor. Ngl, I kinda hate the ‘wife’ thing, but I felt like they were respecting the original work. So that’s why I’m pretty okay with the censorship, even though it’s still sad.

Hehe no problem at all ^^

Thank you for the recommendations! I kinda have a thing for the “less known” ones so yeah. ^^ I read A Thousand Cranes recently and it was really good! I’ve put the ones that weren’t on my to-read list yet on it. :) I couldn’t find A Yellow Dragon though. 🤔 And yeah, recommendations are always welcome! ^^
