The 8th Son? Are You Kidding Me?
May 7, 2020Update: since season 1 is now over. I can say this show had a lot of up and downs. I liked it, and I hope they make a season 2 soon.
What is this: In short this is another show where some guy is sucked from our world to some medieval Europe like world with magic, dragons, etc. And he is or becomes OP within the first few ep.
How does this differ: right now we are about halfway done of season 1 (ep 6). Assuming nothing changes by that much, one of the things I found interesting is how this gets more into the ranking and abilities within medieval times. This is highly interesting to me since it is getting into information a lot of people don't know, and it brings it back somewhat to reality.
With that being said, it's very much like other shows.
When it comes to romance. What is this most like: To be honest, I kinda forgot how old the main person and the group around him is. And even if they are stupid young, based on everthing I look at them at around 18. Like I think they are much younger (I think somewhere they said 12 and this was used as a reason for him to not marry someone). But outside of that, I honestly would say they reflect more in the age range of 18-25. This includes how they look.
The reason why I bring this up is this reminds me a lot of shows like In Another World With My Smartphone. In that show it was obvious from looks that they were all kids. But outside of that much is the same. Both shows have a single person that will marry the main person that has some elegance. Most of the other females around him want to be his concubine. The difference when it comes to this is while the main female really wants him for him. In the smartphone show the concubines want him for his D, but in this they want it to gain rank and do something else. Like one of them wants to make a shop or something.
Note that most everything else about the smartphone show isn't like this. Like there is small things, but overall this show is far more mature than the smartphone one is. Still, if you liked the smartphone show, then I would recommend this one.
Who will like this: If you like any show where the person goes to another world, or if you like medieval magic shows. Outside of that I wouldn't be so sure if it is worth it.
Note that when he gets sucked into the other world, for the first few ep he is obviously a kid. And IMO the show isn't that good until the main person gets his own house.

I mean I respect your opinion but this story is a shame to most isekai stories. But then again in another world with my smartphone doesn't do much better.
Both the author kind of like doesn't have any more ideas for a plot so he just starts introducing more girls with their own personal problems whether a nation or a different spicies or running from who knows what and that's how they have the story develop. Not much plot really besdies making them super OP and have every girl they see fall for them like lol
i totally i agree with you, this show is kinda different from the other animes too. somehow i feel light-hearted when i watched it. The romance isnt intense till now (ep 6) and they kind of pass on romance part as it shows he isnt really interested much.
the more i think about the story the more i see its hopeless sadly. the MC has no big dream or a goal he merely wish to enjoy the wide world which i highly respect as he avoided the succession line all his life but not having a solid purpose only prepresent weak storyline and ambition.
if by any meaning i would love to see our naive MC to realise his worth, think throughly ofnthis wol possibilities and regain a selfish purpose to give some seasoning to this anime.
