You started some nice threads, like the book challenge! Maybe add a profile? If 76 years isn't true you don't need to enter anything ^^

Thanks for the book ideas. I should start reading some of these if I want to get a better understanding of the historical aspects of "Japanimation". Its really amazing how anime can become so integrated into Japanese society. I wonder if this has to do with the social and changing cultural aspects of Japan. And yet, I probably would not want to move to Japan; I'd rather just visit.

Kon Satoshi is definitely an interesting director (Top Notch when it comes to animation). I remember the first time seeing Perfect Blue... yeah. I kinda get depressed when watching his films (with all the moral depravity) and yet I'm mysteriously attracted to his work. As for Neon Genesis Evangelion - The End of Evangelion I was awestruck at what I saw. There also was that one controversial scene with Shinji-kun that NEVER should have been added. That scene created an uproar in Japan. The Gainax building was vandalized with the word "rapist" on its walls. Anno also received death threats for ruining the show with such a controversial ending. There are so many interesting aspects to the show that aren't even in the show. For example, the director went crazy or paranoid while directing the show. Also, Evangelion was directed during the Sarin gas attacks in Japan which caused Anno to make changes to the plotline. This is also the show that got me into watching Anime. If only more anime were like Evangelion...sigh.

The best anime I've ever seen was Kenshin seasons 1 and 2. Season 3 forever ruined the legacy of this show. I saw your recommendations. I'll check out Haibane Renmei, but I'd have to have a really good reason to watch the other shows (I'm a shonen fan). I noticed your into the paranormal/sci-fi shows. You may want to check out Bakemonogatari (pure eye candy, and slightly mesmerizing).

Hey, Cicada. I'm the guy from that thread, "Why are most anime characters white/caucasian?" Just wondering what your opinion is on that question. I'm guessing that you probably know more about anime history and how anime has affected the Japanese society.

I'm suprised to see that your top two anime are Perfect Blue and The End of Evangelion, both very controversial. I also noticed your anime list is really different from mine. Maybe you can give me some recommendations.

Oh yeah, what are kogals?

I see you started Mnemosyne. I'm four episodes in. It's a little bit of a trip and the first episode is definitely weaker than the three that follow (I haven't seen episodes five or six yet).

I'd love to hear what you think of it. ;)
