I can't say I grew up with this show as I did with dragon ball z but I can say I knew about it since it played a few episodes on toonami now and again when I was a kid. 

Finished watching all of it yesterday and I have to say I'm dissapointed. This show had so much charm and good use of character devolpment that it could of bigger and should of for many generations to come. It just failed at continuing a good story. Its too short and you would understand that if you watched through it.

Characters are shown in no order as:

Ed or Edward is a strange girl on Earth when she is seen for the first time and is a very wacky little girl.

Faye Valentine is seducess that loves to gamble and does bounties with the gang.

Jet Black was a cop turned bouty hunter thats been through some hard times.

Spike Spiegel is a bounty hunter with a little past thrown into the show but makes the watcher of the show want to know more about him because he's the figurehead of the show. 

The weird thing about this show is there is no main character so the story is in a werid place. Which I give props to making the show worthy of keeping people's attention which is okay but isn't the reason I watched it for, personally.

Animation is solid it looks really cool to today even, it has quality penship and is worth to see if your a avid anime artist.

Sound is perfect, there are few anime I know off the top of my head that do better than Cowboy Bebop in terms of music and sounds. The guns all sound the same though.

Character-wise this show is flairing with creative ideas and concepts but falls short from making a good story that would hold up. If you just see the ending it explains the show pretty well on terms of story.

Overall this show is a mixed bag, its great at times then its mediocre the next episode. After getting to the last few episodes they basically tell you its going to end which leaves a bad taste in the mind. I don't dislike this show but overall its forgetable. Sad and bang.
