I can't say I enjoyed this OVA too much, and I think that largely has to do with the animation style. I don't neccessarily mind animation being changed up for shorts, but while they did a good job at matching the style of the show with the 3D models, it just felt gimmicky and there were moments the animation just felt odd. I feel like they needed to spend more time on movement and on the mouth movements for this style to really work.

I did like the concept of the story, as it was neat to see how far back some of the aspects of the show started (remaining vague here to avoid spoilers), but it took so long for the story to make much sense and I got a little bored with it because there wasn't much of a point to the events going on until you learn the truth in the end.

It was nice to go back to near the beginning of Team 7's journey together, and Kakashi is great as always, but the story could have been put together so much better and the animation needs a lot of work.
