Mikasa is hated because of her flat personality and wasted potential.
Levi and Mikasa have very few similarities personality wise when going in depth. Then again , Mikasa's depth doesn't go very deep.
She has full right to feel the need to protect Eren after what he did for her , especially since he is her only family now , but still , she is one-sidedly obsessive and annoying. If she had more depth maybe she would be slightly forgiven , but she is F-L-A-T.
It's not the stoicism , it's the lack of personality , more so , the lack of depth. Mikasa was a completely brutal wasted character especially for being female lead/being in the main trio. In comparison to Levi who had at least two and a half FULL , THOROUGH layers of development to him , Mikasa is pretty flat.
Secondly , we are not blaming her for being madly in love with Eren , we are shaming her for being madly in love with Eren , more specifically shaming her for her unhealthy obsession for someone who hardly loves her (don't get me started on that). You can say it is because of her blood , but apparently she's just an overpowered psycho yandere. At the very least 60 to 70% of her actions were controlled my her blood's need to protect her king.
I'm not hating on Yams here , I love AOT fully , but the more I look at each point of view I find and think about it (maybe I'm not thinking deep enough) , the more I feel like Yams was just throwing things into the plot. Even though I know just about every detail and aspect of AOT is well thought out and planned , it still feels like a pillar holding up one of the corners disappeared and Yams was just trying to stack anything and everything under to prevent the platform (plot) from falling. And It worked , controversially though.
Also , we completely understand that Eren saved her from becoming a sex slave and is her only family , and she has every right to feel the need to pay him back (since we're (lying) saying that Mikasa wasn't/isn't being controlled by her blood). Still , at the same time , it gives her no excuse for being overbearing and annoying and such an outright flat , lower-than-mid character. It's like building a robot , typing up a quick tragedy for it then sending it out into the real word and calling it a person.
But , then again what's done it done. Yams has full control of the wheel and all in all he's still great despite is lack of knowing how to create and fulfill a fictional relationship. Then again , AOT was never about the romance as it was about the lesson and the tragedy. All in all fictional characters will be fictional characters.
