Pros:

+ Interesting and fresh start of a vengance and betrayal isekai story

+ The protagonist is kind of a tank and must rely on a party and his intelligence to get by in fights

+ The protagonist must overcome his naivite to be a hero and becomes quite a tradesman during the first half of the story

Cons:

The story loses its wit quite fast

- Too many characters that act irrationally

- The protagonist switches between hate for his foes and kindness when ever the story needs it, and his progress is to inconsistent

Story: The story starts quite refreshing, because the protagonist is betrayed and stripped of all honors. It is a little questionable, because armageddon is at hand, and one would need all the heroes, to survive, but at least there is story progress and character progress made in the beginning. Especially great was imo that Naofumi even resorts to slavery for getting his disadvantage compensated. This could have become a sort of Overlord scenario, but with the twist, that the bullying of the shield hero in the beginning made him the villain, everyone treats him like. But unfortunately this arc is dropped, and his hatred for the society and royalty is only used, when convenient, because he is "a good guy at heart" and tries to resolve the apocalypse with the help of the outcast races, that are treated like garbabe by the humans, while getting backstabbed by the other heroes and almost everyone in royalty.

Animation: Quite mediocre with sometimes nice but also boring landscapes. Nothing extraordinary, nothing that sticks in the mind.

Sound: The soundtrack is a little interesting. Especially some flute parts. But intro and outro are forgettable.

Characters: Naofumi sadly is inconsitent in his vengance, sensitivity and cunning. His entourage bland and one-dimensional. Almost every time after the first episodes, when they have the chance to grow as a character, they refute it. Best example is Raphtalia, his sword wielding maid, he bought as a slave. When she has the opportunity to kill a torturer and stereotypical human monster, she refuses. Boring, stereotypical and one dimensional. Almost everyone around him is a loli love interest. Interesting would have been, if he would intentionally use their affection for his financial and power gain, but he becomes the loving great brother and good guy, even when he despises this world and all the people in it in the beginning.

The princess as a villain is simply a selfish and spoiled sociopath. But at least she drives the plot a little. All the other heroes are dumb as frag and they are unable to recognize the princess for what she is. That is even more annoying.

Total: Starts with really good premises, that are dropped for mediocre loli harem, boring side plots and inconsitency.

5/10 story
