My favorite things in anime/manga are BL, yaoi, bromance, hot guys, and fan service involving sexy males (only males!) I'm a sucker for brothers (especially twins), high fantasy, historical animes, majestic creatures who have a 'hot guy' form, angel and demon boys, fox boys, princes, priests and monks, elf guys, and submissive/servile boys.

Some of my favorite guys from anime/manga include: Su-Won (Yona of the Dawn); Tomoe (Kamisama Kiss); L and Light (Death Note); Fei-Long (Finder series); the medicine seller (Mononoke); Sebastian (Kuroshitsuji); Genjo Sanzo (Saiyuki/Patalliro Saiyuki); Hotohori (Fushigi Yuugi); Seravi (Akazukin Chacha); Jean Otis (ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept.); Viktor Von Glanzreich (The Royal Tutor).

Some other fandoms I like:

Warcraft
Tolkien (Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit)
Harry Potter

Non-anime shows I like which include bromance, guy/guy, or female-oriented fan service:

Plebs
Nowhere Boys
BBC Merlin
Queer as Folk
Threesome
Live action drama version of Ouran High School Host Club

Films I like which include bromance, guy/guy, or female-oriented fan service:

- Velvet Goldmine
- Interview with the Vampire
- Maurice (hands down the single most romantic m/m film I've ever seen-- based on an equally amazing novel). It actually has a happy ending!
- Lord of the Rings trilogy
- Thor 1 and 2

His character not whether he is good or evil is what I like, without him the story would not stand...

Glad you enjoyed the list and Spirit Pact (I enjoyed it too. I really wish there were more fantasy/sci-fi BL). But it's true about the female characters. I've noticed Chinese anime as a whole tends to do that even more than Japanese anime. But why add that in a BL heavy story obviously aimed at women?

Thanks for the commment about Saiyuki.

The relation to DBZ point was really only in reference to Son Goku, who I knew as Son Wukong (not the Japanese version Son Goku) but past the name the constant hunger, transformation to where his hair grows longer (Wukong could transform into different creatures, but it was volentary) and being the strongest in the world, all seem very DBZ Gokuish.

Pair that with the fact the other three main characters have complete name changes than any of the translations of the original tale, the mixing of Gojyo and Hakkai's characters (Gojyo has Baije's job and is a womanizer, while being a water sprite and having a sickle like Wujing), and you can see them sort of taking the easy route when adpating this specific character.

I get a series having to stay somewhat true to the orignal work, but they deviated so much in other areas that they could have tried to do so with possibly distancing themselves from one of the world's most known and watched Anime. I think a show, which did come out later so maybe they learned from other's mistakes, like Samurai 7 did a better job, take the overall story of a complete masterpiece, but give enough of a change that you can't be accused of phoning it in.

I was probably a bit hard on the characters. but perhaps if the repetitive and unfulfilling story were even slightly better I could have over looked it a bit, as I have with some of my other less than favorite shows.

Thanks again for reading.
