Sakura Quest

Sep 21, 2017

One of the main things that got me to watch this show is it's relation to one of my favorite anime ever, Shirobako, as they are from the same studio, P.A. Works.  However, it would be a big diservice to come into Sakura Quest and expect the same thing from them.  You simply can't compare them because of how different their execution is. Story Yoshino Koharu has done everything in her life to move away from a boring quiet life.  She left her small village in the countryside to Tokyo for a more exciting life.  However, things just aren't clicking for her.  She has barely gotten any... Love and Lies

Sep 19, 2017

First off, I would like to say that I do recommend this show 100% if you're looking for a nice romance anime. A couple of months when this show was announced, it received a good amount of buzz.  It was described as a romance anime with two possible girls but they're both best girl.  That just pushed me over the edge because who doesn't like a good waifu war? Story In this reality, when people reach the age of 16, they will receive a notice from the government on who they will marry.  This was all done to counter Japan's declining birth rate and has been successful since its implementation... Scum's Wish

Apr 19, 2017

At first, the Winter 2017 season didn't seem all that appealing and was really a placeholder for the upcoming huge Spring 2017.  Turns out it ended up being surprisingly good and fun season filled with some solid shows.  Kuzu no Honkai/Scum's Wish was one of them and certainl on the top of the season for me. Plot Hanabi Yasuraoka and Mugi Awaya seem like your regular high school couple to the normal eye.  However, they are not in love with each other.  They're in love with their teachers, Hanabi with the older neighborhood boy named Kanai who she called Oni-chan and Mugi with his... Masamune-kun's Revenge

Mar 27, 2017

At the beginning of Winter 2017, I was confused because there wasn't that many shows I was interested and it was mostly filled with new anime.  I read the synopsis for Masamune-kun no Revenge and thought it was pretty interesting and might be pretty funny so I gave it a shot. Story Masamune Makabe is a new transfer student at school but already was familiar with one of the most famous students of school, Adagaki Aki.  She has been known as an Ice Queen due to her ruthlessly dumping would-be lovers in public and giving them horrible nicknames.  Masamune was one of those dumpees... Fuuka

Mar 27, 2017

NO SPOILERS Story Introvert Yuu literally bumps into a girl named Fuuka.  Drawn by her positive attitude they start hanging around together.  One day she was inspired to start a band and takes Yuu and 3 other people along on her journy.  However, on another day, Yuu regained contact with an old childhood friend who turned into a massive idol. Where to begin?  For the most part it was fairly simple but it just go so out of hand and ridiculous in a bad way.  The plot was not complex at all but everything just turned in weird ways that just didn't make sense or at least all had the... Yuri!!! on Ice

Feb 1, 2017

So at first I never watched it due to being strictly Yaoi-bait shows and the silly jokes about it being better if it were called "Yaoi on Ice".  After a while the buzz about this show grew and so did my interest in it. Story Yuri Katsuki has just suffered a crushing defeat in figure skating's biggest event, the Grand Prix Final.  After the defeat he decides to take a break by going back home to Japan.  When he was just performing the routine of his idol, world renowned best skater Viktor Nikiforov, at his local skate rink.  The video went so viral that Viktor himself was so... Shirobako

Jan 12, 2017

This has really been on my "Want to Watch" list for a while but never really been motivated to watch.  After the end of the Fall 2016 season, I wanted something to watch in the meantime until Winter 2017 starts.  So I was just on a baseball reddit of all places and it had a post related to Shirobako and I took it as a sign to watch this show. Story In the most simple terms Shirobako is an anime about making anime as it follows Miyamori Aoi, a Production Assistant, as she and her company work to produce anime. On paper the premise may not really be interesting but the execution... See full review

Orange

Jan 2, 2017

Summer 2016 was kinda hit or miss.  This is one of the few shows I that I may have never watched if it weren't for a recommendation.  After a rundown of the plot, I found it interesting and decided to give it a shot. Story Takamiya Naho received an odd letter from herself 10 years into the future.  In it is a list of regrets she had with the hopes that her younger self would correct them.  One main issue was the incoming transfer student, Naruse Kakeru, and Naho and her circle of friends' interaction with the new student. The premise was really interesting to me.  My first... See full review

Sound! Euphonium 2

Dec 29, 2016

So after being pleasantly surprised by Sound! Euphonium I just had to be excited that there was a sequel.  However, I somewhat stalled after the first episode and then binged to catch up with the finale the next day. Story After winning the regional concert band competition, Kitauji HS looks to go even further toward the nationals.  The main character is Kumiko Oumae as she balances the drama within the club, her personal life, and the competitions themselves. The main conflicts within this season is more of external problems and Oumae, being her lovable self, trying to stumble her way to fix... See full review

Keijo!!!!!!!!

Dec 24, 2016

This show was totally not on my radar at the beginning of the Fall 2016 season.  After a few weeks, I've heard how fun this show was so I decided to take it up.  Thank goodness I did. Story So Keijo is a sport where sexy women in bikinis try to knock off one another off a platform floating on water with nothing but their butts or boobs.  The whole premise is absolutely ridiculous but everything else that happens is what makes it.  What I didn't expect is the ridiculous amount of techniques and super powers one can do with their ass or tits.  The moves keep escalating too... Shelter

Nov 23, 2016

I just watched this the other day and what I watched finally sank in.  I first heard about this short/music video a while ago but never really bothered to watch until recently.  Holy crap was it mind-blowing. Story Although not named in the actual video, we have Rin who's in this world where she can create anything with the touch of an iPad thing all alone.  As she continues to live in the world, she slowly finds about her past and why and how she got there. You may think that 6 minutes is impossible to tell a deep complex story but this is just some level of efficiency here.  I don't... See full review

Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend

Nov 6, 2016

I came across this anime on reddit from a video posted which actually ended up being in the final episode.  However, it was fascinating enough for me to look it up.  I haven't really watched already completed anime in a while due to my lack of committment as I preferred to just watch shows currently in season. Story Tomoya Aki is a proud otaku of all anime, doujins, and games.  On the first day of school he had a fateful encounter with a mystery girl who inspired him to create his own dating sim game.  As it turns out, the girl he met is his own classmate, Megumi Katou, whose existance... Boruto: Naruto the Movie

Oct 11, 2015

Today, on October 10, 2015, was day two of New York City Comic Con (NYCC) but is also Naruto's birthday.  At NYCC, it was celebrated with the US premiere of the movie.  And in that screening was also marked by a special appearance of Masashi Kishimoto, the creater of the series, and Junko Takeuchi, the voice actress of Naruto.  After waiting hours to get in, we all were treated to one spectacular film. Story The story takes place after the original series and focuses on Naruto's son, Boruto.  Naruto is now the full fledged Hokage barely having time to be at home.  This greatly... See full review

Gangsta.

Sep 28, 2015

So I was going through the Summer Season list and saw "Gangsta" as one of the titles.  I've been somewhat not into action and leaning towards more comedy and SoL's but I thought that I should just give Gansta a try. Story What is it?  It's about two guys, Worick and Nicolas, living in a city's underground but there's mercenaries with superpowers, a prostitute with a heart of gold, and stuff.  The duo do oddjobs such as simple deliveries to mob boss protection.  Gangsta's premise reminds me of Durarara, with all the different side stories, mixed in the world of Black Lagoon... Prison School

Sep 26, 2015

How did I fall upon one of the most unique anime out there?  I guess you can say I got really bored and didn't know what to watch when the Summer 2015 season rolled around.  I stumbled upon Prison School and put that on my "Want to Watch" list hoping for a decent laugh. Story Hachimitsu Academy just allowed male students in their previously all-girl school with the addition of 5 new male students: Kiyoshi (our main character), Gakuto, Shingo, Joe, and Andre.  All they wanted was an honest high school boy life but just couldn't.  They instead chose to be more devious and peep... Food Wars! Shokugeki no Souma

Sep 26, 2015

Shokugeki no Soma was one of the most anticipated series of Spring and it just recently ended 9/25/2015.  I actually couldn't wait for the anime to start so I ended up reading ahead.  So basically, all that I watched was with me knowing in advance how everything plays out.  It was just me seeing how they were going to animate the series. Story Yukihira Soma is a young chef home-trained in his father's (Joichirou) diner.  Story starts in a regular Father-Son cook off leading to Soma's defeat which is actually one of 489 consecutive loses for Soma.  One day, Jouichirou decides to... Sep 4, 2015

I first heard about this film while review videos to cure boredom.  Then one video was about Redline.  However, that just made me aware of the movie's existence.  Later, I received many recommendations for anime movies and Redline was one of the more numerous recommendations.  So, I just started watching it to finally see what it was all about Story The whole concept of the show is, at it's bare bones, Mario Kart but in space and a million times more badass.  Basically it focuses on this grand space race with the hero, "Sweet" JP as one of the participants... Sound! Euphonium

Jul 1, 2015

I found out about this anime after looking at the upcoming Spring 2015 lineup.  I'm not sure what compelled me to watch this but I sure did.  It was probably because it looked pretty nice and the story got me. Story There's like a whole bunch going on here with the plot.  Kumiko Oumae has just entered high school and reluctantly joins the school's Concert Band.  She has been playing euphonium for the past 7 years of her life.  This included time at her middle school's band but didn't really take it seriously as others especially this one girl, Kousaka Reina, who is actually in the... Jun 20, 2015

If you're watching this season without watching at least the previous one then what the hell is wrong with you.  I was aggressively waiting after Part 1 finished because I hoped that they'd just go straight until it finished.  When it first came out, I watched it ASAP.  However I was too exciting in the meantime and just read the manga instead.  Promise no spoilers. I first heard of this anime after coming across a review of it but I totally forgot what it said about it.  However, I remembered the whole basis of the show.  Later on I saw this on Netflix and decided to watch it there and immidietly got hooked. Story In the future of 2113, every person's mental state and health is monitored by a system called Sibyl that assess their livelyhood and whether or not they are a danger to society. Those who apply it are the people of the Public Safety Bureau, who are essentially the pollice.  This anime follows a rookie inspector named Tsunemori Akane who... See full review

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

May 13, 2015

I have no good knowledge of any anime movies.  I've been more involved with shows.  I know that a there are a lot of great anime movies but that's like knowing it'll rain eventually someday.  I have actually taken somewhat of a break from regular episodic anime in order to watch some movies.  Toki Wo Kakeru Shoujo is my second movie in as many days. I first found out about this after watching some YouTube videos about some really good anime.  This show happen to be on the list with some great praise for it.  After reading listening to the synopsis of the show, I thought it was hilarious and just had to check it out. Story The wolrd of Ente Isle was ruled by Dark Lord Satan.  Then a group of heroes challenged his rule and take back their land.  Upon nearing defeat, Satan and his trusted general, Alsiel, escaped to another dimension.  That dimension ended up being Earth and is stuck in Japan.  In order to survive Satan... So I found about Death Parade earlier this year around January when I went back into the anime life while on my break between semesters.  I saw the poster and thought that it had a cool name.  Upon reading the synopsis, I thought it would be interesting to watch.  However with my hectic school schedule, I couldn't dedicate enough time to watch.  Plus I also wanted to wait until the show finished before I watched.  Today I suddenly had the urge to watch it and I actually marathoned it the whole day and just finished it now. I kind of forgot how I came across this.  I probably found out about this anime on this website.  It took me a while to finish this because I was busy with school.  I only just finished watching the show a few moments before writing this review. Story Kousei Arima was a child prodigy pianist.  However, after his mother's death 2 years prior to the initial story, he became unable to hear the notes he plays.  Therefore, he became too traumatized to play the piano.  In his last year of junior high school, he meets a violinist named Kaori Miyazono, who's the complete opposite of... Free! Eternal Summer

Mar 8, 2015

After watching the first season, I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was.  It was only natural that I had to watch the second season.  It took me a while to finish not because it was bad.  I have been busy with school and went back to finish it today. Story The boys from the Iwatobi Swim Club are back and for third years Makoto and Haruka, it's their final year with the team.  To me, this season felt way more dramatic naturally as I felt that Season 1 felt a bit forced.  Also, that drama was broken up very well by light and comedic moments.  The pacing was also very... Jan 30, 2015

I heard about this when I was listening to a podcast a while back.  They were talking about anime and gave one guy a ton of crap for watching Free!.  It wasn't until much later I watched an episode and just gave up on it pretty quick.  After another long gap I was running out of animes to watch and this was left so I thought I'd give it another honest go. I've been meaning to watch this for a while but haven't had the time to.  Now that I have the time while being on break from school, I've restarted watching anime.  I first saw a poster on Crunchy Roll and I thought the art style was amazing. I watched the first season and thought it was hilarious.  After that, I watched another anime without knowing there was a second season.  After I finished that one, I was wondering which to go on next.  I decided to watch season 2 of this instead of other well received shows like Ouran High School Host Club, Durarara, and Cromartie High School.  I don't know why but I immediately watched this instead of those.
