I first found out about this after watching some YouTube videos about some really good anime.  This show happen to be on the list with some great praise for it.  After reading listening to the synopsis of the show, I thought it was hilarious and just had to check it out.

Story

The wolrd of Ente Isle was ruled by Dark Lord Satan.  Then a group of heroes challenged his rule and take back their land.  Upon nearing defeat, Satan and his trusted general, Alsiel, escaped to another dimension.  That dimension ended up being Earth and is stuck in Japan.  In order to survive Satan takes up an alias, Maou Sadao being working at a local fast food joint while while Alsiel, known as Ayashi, researches to find out more about Earth.  This is all going on while the hero who tried to slay him, Emilia, follows him to try and finish where they left off.

Wow.  This show pretty much has the most unique premise I've heard about.  The Demon King Satan is forced to work at a fast food place living in a tiny studio apartment with his subordinate.  What's weird for me is that he pretty much immediately adjusts to it.  There is no adjustment curve.  In the very first episode Maou goes from evil ruler to hardworking, diligent, honorable, and loyal model employee and he ENJOYS it.  He'd rather go into battle in his underwear rather than ruin his uniform.  This whole concept is just amazing and hilarious.  Also Emilia also had to readjust and also had to join Japan's work force.  The whole conflict is although Maou is living such a modest lifestyle, he still has the label of person who has caused thousands of deaths back at home.  The show reminds us of this a few times yet never really gets too deep into that.  However, the comedy takes place and directly cuts into a whole lot of the drama.  When it wanted to be serious, it did so pretty well.  One thing I say is that the comedy may not speak to you but it did for me.

Animation and Sound

One of the things I liked was the colors were really balanced and didn't strain my eyes because they were too dull nor too bright.  The animation was solid and really amped it up when it really needed to.  Action scenes were nicely done and choreographed.

I really loved the voice acting of this show.  Maou's voice is really great.  Although he has had a dark past, he sounds very playful and charismatic.  That describes everyone well.  Everyone's voices fit their role.  I wasn't really feeling the opening and ending as it really didn't catch me.  I do love the serious music they played despite being a silly comedy.

Characters

Everyone showed a very loveable aspect to them.  Also seeing how many from Ente Isle changed and adjusted to Earth living was part of some hilarious development.  Not only did a Dark Evil King ruler of humans turn into someone who ironically serves them, others joined in.  Emilia goes from hero to someone working at a call center.  One of Maou's generals turn from evil villain into a hikikomori.  I didn't find one character unbearable while I felt some were kinda unnecessary but that's not really a problem since they didn't chane the story.  Great all-around cast of characters who just had great chemistry.

Also, as I said earlier, it's totally weird that Maou goes from Satan to pretty much a stereotypical anime hero.  How?  Was he really even that evil to begin with?  Did everyone who opposed him just have a misunderstanding?  It's just so weird that a guy portrayed as being Satan turned out to be such an awesome character.

Overall

Lately, I've been watching a multitude of animes waiting weekly for each episode.  It's nice to go an finish a whole series in a couple days to make me feel better.  Not only did I get that, I felt great because this show was awesome.  It's mostly a comedy but got into some really good drama here and there.  I definitely recommend for others to watch this.
