To be honest, the only times I watch series with things like that are when there's another part of the story that I actually like. I tend to avoid pure harem stuff like the plague, because it annoys me enough even when there's a good plot to dilute it. As for romance that goes nowhere, I'm so used to stories like that I don't really care any more (I have watched way too much anime like that. Why do they never resolve anything in anime???)

I'm currently watching a load of stuff from this season - Kobayashi-san, KonoSuba and Blue Exorcist are probably my favourites so far.
