A Girl & Her Guard Dog

Nov 26, 2023

Probably the worst show I have seen thus far. A Girl and Her Guard Dog's animation is just bad. The animation is stiff and honestly uninspired. Like there's Isaku herself. She is meant to be drawn as being cute but her eyes get so far a part, it's amazing that they don't just fall off her face. She straight up looks like an alien that just dropped to the Earth and is poorly imitating a human. Not even going with Keiya's dead fish eyes and bland appearance. The proportions of the characters are sometimes off that it makes you wonder how anyone thought this was good enough to be shown to public! I... See full review

I'm in Love with the Villainess

Nov 21, 2023

So ultimately enjoy the show having read the manga a few years back. The main couple is humorous with Rae's continuous simping for Claire and the show also does a good job with its emotional moments. For instance, there is Claire. She starts off as being abrasively classist and homophobic, but as the show continues on, we slowly get more of her true self that she otherwise would not have acted on that had Rae not have been reincarnated in the game.  For instance, I appreciate how positive it is with discussing sexual orientations with Rae herself being happy in her own skin. The show is also animated... See full review

Our Dating Story: The Experienced You and The Inexperienced Me

Nov 18, 2023

Keeping it short, really enjoying this show. The plot of having an inexperienced guy dating a girl who has been on several dates is an interesting idea. Ryuto and Runa's relationship is surprisingly wholesome with Ryuto not caring how Runa had been in other relationships with boys and Runa at first respecting Ryuto's wishes to keep them dating a secret. Runa admittedly is slightly naive, but she has her charm and truly wants to be in a relationship that lasts. For his part, Ryuto does grow a backbone Episode 5 has some needless drama building up, but thankfully the misunderstanding is resolved... See full review

The Yuzuki Family's Four Sons

Nov 17, 2023

Real wholesome show: The Yuzuki Family's Four Sons is about, well, a bunch of brothers who try to look after each other after the sudden deaths of their parents. There's Hayato, the eldest brother; Minato and Mikoto, the former acting as the main lead character, and Gakuto, the youngest.  The show just, for lack of a better word, feels so real and true to life. The Yuzuki brothers feel like actual people you can relate with because of how human they are. Like any family, they have their squabbles and times where they absolutely dislike living under the same roof, but through it all, they are... See full review

My Unique Skill Makes Me OP even at Level 1

Sep 24, 2023

I'm a simple man. I see a bunny girl I watch. My Unique Skill Makes Me OP Even at Level 1 starts off kind of strange. In it, we are introduced to a young adventurer named Emily Brown who is killing slimes in a dungeon when... a human ends up dropping out of the one she killed? From there, it turns out that this human, Ryota Sato, is your typical overworked corporate slave who died? I don't remember if the show ever clarified if he died or at the least, implied he did. In this world, literally, everything comes from monster kills. Different types drop items ranging from food to magical weapons. In... See full review

SHIMONETA: A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn’t Exist

Sep 18, 2023

In the year 2030, Japan has been cracking down hard on anything they deem "lewd." In order to "better promote wholesomeness," each Japanese citizen is also required to wear devices known as "Peace Makers" which moderate hand motions and communication. During that time, a young man named Tanukichi Okuma enrolls in an elite school where he becomes enlisted in the student council which was a dream come true because he would be close to the "perfect" representation of the government's system Anna Nishikinomiya. Level 1 Demon Lord and One Room Hero

Aug 31, 2023

"I chose my path, you chose the way of the hero. And they found you amusing for a while, the people of this city. But the one thing they love more than a hero is to see a hero fail, fall, and die trying. Despite everything you've done for them, eventually, they will hate you." -Green Goblin This quote best exemplifies the premise of Level 1 Demon Lord and One Room Hero. The Devil Lord wages war with mankind with the intent of taking over the world. However, he is thwarted by the Legendary Hero Max and his party. The Dreaming Boy is a Realist

Aug 29, 2023

Wataru Sajou has always been in love with his classmate, Aika Natsukawa, but he would keep pestering her until he realizes he was out of her league and stops pursuing her. Thus is the plot of The Dreaming Boy is a Realist.  The show is... not bad, but not really good either probably due to it being an adaptation of a LN. Whatever the case, the show can be a slump to go through where the writing doesn't stick and is sometimes even bizarre. The show does not feel lively at times almost lifeless. Characterwise... maybe aside the main characters and some interesting supporting cast, I hardly remember... See full review

Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon

Aug 17, 2023

There are many kinds of isekai out there. Either the MC is reincarnated into a skeleton, a spider, or a witch... but in this case, they become a vending machine in their next life.   Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon is about a vending machine fanatic who, while riding on his motorbike, sees a vending machine about to fall! So, he, being the Good Samaritan, saves the machine...only to get crushed to death by it because, of course, that is what happens when you try to catch a 200-ton inanimate object. The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses

Aug 16, 2023

We've had gimmick shows some good, some mediocre. There's one about a girl with a communication disorder. Or how about the one where you have a tanned girl be a teasing bully, or a similar series just with a smol woman? Then there is the one about an accident-prone young man whose girlfriend's main trait is...she keeps him from getting hurt and looking cool while doing it.   To add another gimmicky show to the mix, there is The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses. In it, we follow Komura, a young man smitten by his classmate Mie Ai apparently harboring a crush on her from the first day of school... See full review

Rokudo's Bad Girls

Jun 28, 2023

Rokudou's Bad Girls is about a teenager named Rokudou Tousuke who attends school at Amori High and just wants to have a good time at school, but that is seemingly impossible due to it festering with delinquents. He receives a scroll from his grandfather and decides to undergo a ritual under the assumption that would solve his problems. It seems to have no effect...until he realizes that it draws bad girls to him. In other words, it is harem-building time. While attending an event with the goal of making her ex regret dumping her, she winds up meeting Akito Yamada, a stoic young boy who happened to be that afro-wearing elf in the game. What would you do if someone you loved is threatened and you have to resort to drastic measures? This is what the underrated gem My Home Hero asks. When Tetsuo Tosu, a sales representative, learns his daughter is being beaten by her boyfriend, one thing leads to another and he kills him. But he realizes that he has ties with the Yakuza, so he must find a way to keep his family safe. The animation's...not great, but the plot is interesting and keeps me on the edge of my seat because of how close the main characters are to getting outed. I also like how the show depicts the characters in morally grey ways... See full review

Jun 6, 2023

Pretty short one: Yuri Is My Job! is about Hime Shiraki, a high school girl who wears a mask pretending to be a charmingly sweet high schooler so that she could marry into wealth and live an easy life. She accidentally injures the owner of a cafe so Hime offers to work shifts. It turns out the establishment is set in a fictional all-girl boarding school "Liebe Girls Academy" and realizes that one of the girls has it out for her. The animation is fine and polished and the lighting is good. The opening and ending themes are also good. As for characters: Hime herself starts off as being very much a... See full review

The Aristocrat's Otherworldly Adventure: Serving Gods Who Go Too Far

Jun 5, 2023

Do you want the most uninspired and derivative isekai out there? Then The Aristocrat's Otherworldly Adventure is up your alley. While I personally would never label a show "boring," you are not missing much. You have the typical OP MC who is reincarnated into another world that wows everyone and he naturally gets some admirers/potential spouses. Though, IMO, how he died being completely unnecessary was funny probably as much as how Kazuma died. The characters...I legit forgot many of their names, especially the ones Cain is slated to marry. One day, Shion arrives in his town, smells some good meat cooking...and falls into a demon pit Touka set. With the Hell Gate opening once more, a new hero arises. Otaku Elf

May 29, 2023

Nothing deep, but nevertheless an infectious watch, Otaku Elf stars Koito Koganei, a 16-year-old miko who works for the Takamimi Shrine. The shrine is noteworthy because 400 years ago, an elf was summoned during the Edo period by Tokugawa Ieyasu. Elda, or Takamimi Hime no Mikoto, is a total shut-in who indulges in playing video games; collecting toys; drinking Red Bull energy drinks for all-nighters, etc. The characters are pretty likable. Koito takes her status as the shrine maiden seriously and often becomes annoyed with Elda's antics. But she also is obsessed with trying on mature clothes... See full review

My Clueless First Friend is another of those comfort shows. All this would change when Taiyo Takada, a new student moves to her school and misinterprets Nishimura as actually having supernatural powers. The Dangers in My Heart

May 21, 2023

Honestly a pleasant surprise. Reading about the Dangers in My Heart, I did not initially know what to think about the series (what with it being about a borderline delusional student who fantasizes about killing his classmates), but the show consistently made me laugh and love the characters. I often don't care about school anime shows, but this one is pretty good. For instance, Ichikawa may view himself as having an insatiable blood lust with him wanting to kill Yamada, he's really just confused about how he felt about her. Despite his deprecation of himself, he is actually a nice and considerate person... See full review

My One-Hit Kill Sister

May 18, 2023

Nothing too grandiose. When Asahi finds himself in another world due to getting into a coma, he is not the OP player here; rather it is his sister, Maya. Who is a thirsty bro-con.  The show can be pretty funny for the most part, but repetitive: Asahi is in danger, Maya saves him and he gets the acknowledgment as the "hero." Kilmaria, one of the Devil King's generals, wants to fight Maya due to them being equally matched, rinse, and repeat. But the show can be genuinely hilarious as long as you ignore the whole incestuous obsession Maya has with her brother.  The characters are fine... See full review

Oshi no Ko

May 18, 2023

So, had been watching my way up to episode 6 of Oshi No Ko. If I am being honest, the show kind of feels overrated. Like don't get me wrong, there are things that I love about the show; the visuals and lighting are good. Voicework is also good, and I love the opening and ending themes.   But with me...I feel that what made the show good at first was the prologue. I was never bored when I was watching it. Sure, it was kind of an exposition dump, but what made it good was Rie Takahashi's performance as Ai Hoshino. She had this infectious, vibrant energy to her but at the same time, her issue was... I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in The Real World, Too

May 10, 2023

At its worse, this is a generic, formulaic Isekai series with several cliches. You have the protagonist who is an overweight loser who gets mistreated and bullied not just at school, but also by his own family. Yuuya is the ultimate escapist character. He becomes a heartthrob overnight; gets invited to a prestigious school. Girls all love him, etc. But with that being said, I think the show does a good job of making Yuuya sympathetic. Albeit, some I feel are exaggerated, he is a truly nice, kind character. It makes it clear that even when he gets to become a "hero" after inheriting the house... See full review

KamiKatsu: Working for God in a Godless World

This is probably the funniest anime of the spring season. KamiKatsu begins when Yukito Urabe, a young man who was the heir of a nefarious cult, gets tossed into the sea by his father due to the idea he would be reincarnated as the next leader. As he sinks to the bottom of the sea, Yukito wishes to be born in a world without religion or gods.   Sure, enough, that is where he ends up. When Hiraku dies, he is met by a god who apologizes for accidentally bestowing a life of suffering to an innocent man and offers him a second chance at life. From there, Hiraku takes on the farmer life. He starts off small before growing to establish a village. Positives: The food is so appetizing to look at due to farming being the main theme.  The music is soothing. Characters are great albeit some relationships felt weak.
