One-Punch Man 2

Jan 16, 2020

Well, just got finished watching Season 2. It was a mixed bag so to speak. The story was all over the place. One was Saitama entering a martial arts tournament upon hearing about a hero getting beaten by the Hero Killer Garou, so that piqued his interest. Then there's Fubuki who felt insecure in regards to her older sister Tatsumaki. The Monster Association plays a crucial role in the season such as by taking a hostage or later taking an interest in Garou. There wasn't a consistent flow in the direction of the season. Then there was the 12th episode which amounted to an underwhelming finale. Due to the... See full review

Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun

Jan 11, 2020

Really love this show. It dropped under my radar and I am catching up with the series. Needless to say, I am loving it. It is a series concerning a 14-year-old boy named Iruma Suzuki and how he was often made to do tasks for his neglectful parents who barely fed him, provided him with education, etc. Until one day...they sell him to a demon named Sullivan. From there, he learns that Sullivan was the principal over a school in the netherworlds and he adopts him as his grandson. Comedy ensues. The opening and ending themes are catchy as heck, the voice work is good. Animation-wise, I like the designs of... See full review

O Maidens in Your Savage Season

Aug 11, 2019

Araburu Kisetsu no Otome-domo yo, or O Maidens in Your Savage Season, is another series I've been watching for a good while. Based on the manga series by Mari Okada, the series revolves around a group of high schoolgirls attending a literature cub meeting and reading books that would otherwise be considered raunchy if not for the fact that they had become classics. As a way to break the ice, each girl is asked what they wanted the most in life before they died, and one girl's wish takes the girls on a journey through the awkward stages of adulthood.   The show isn't that much of an easy watch. To me... See full review

Wasteful Days of High School Girls

Aug 10, 2019

Well, this was something. The series is about three childhood friends - Nozomu Tanaka, Akane Kikuchi, and Shiori Saginomiya respectively - attending the same class at high school. One day, Tanaka decides to give her friends nicknames; for Akane, it's "Ota" becacuse of her being a nerd; for Shiori "Robo" because of her emotionless demeanor. And such, they nickname her "Baka" because she is an idiot. Okay...the show isn't bad per say, but it's also something that I'm not largely fond for. There is no big story, of course at it just revolves around the titular girls' every day... See full review

Magical Sempai

Aug 7, 2019

High school student, the Assistant, is made to attend a club due to club regulations. While looking for a potential club, he comes upon one dedicated to stage magic where he then meets Sempai who unfortunately has crippling stage fright that causes her to mess up the performance continuously. Then to add onto that, you have a street performer going by the name "Saki-chan" who tried to usurp the magic club, and she also has some...interests in her brother. Yeah, it's that kind of anime. There's nothing much to the show. As an ecchi, the main jokes revolve around Sempai finding herself in... See full review

The Helpful Fox Senko-san

Jun 26, 2019

Another show that provides you with the warm fuzzies. The show revolves around salaryman Nakano and his stressful life. One day, a fox girl named Senko appears in his apartment and for whatever reason, she wanted to pamper him as a means of destroying the darkness that was manifesting. The series starts out with a rather simplistic: Nakano gets stressed, and Nakano gets pampered by Senko. Or, you would have a fellow fox girl Shiro who would often show up to cause mischief. What I can say though is that it is not all the series has to offer. The later episodes get more into why exactly Senko is so devoted to... See full review

Joshi Kausei

Jun 23, 2019

Mmm...not really a good show. It is episodic for the most part, but otherwise nonsensical. Animation is bland, non-inspiring. Honestly, there is nothing much to it. The action feels stiff. Sound wise, there is nothing. Because voicework is nonexistent, the sounds should make up for it. Sadly, it is also uninspiring. Characters...again, because of the lack of anything to work with, they are forgettable. They have quirks, but because of the lack of substance, they don't have anything endearing behind them. You really can't feel anything for them. Eh...overall, not a good show. Won't lie when saying that I... See full review

Senryuu Girl

Jun 21, 2019

For a series that had episodes that were 12 minutes long, it was a pretty fun watch. Story wise, it's a basic story of a shy girl falling in love with a supposed thug because he made her feel like she was more than what she was. And you have a few more characters in the blend. It's nothing grand, but it is fun. The show's animation was good, but not breathtaking. I feel in some ways it fell short, but it also complimented scenes callingfor humor. With characters, we have a plethora of scenes of Eiji and Nanako together and they definitely make a cute couple. What with their mannerisms and adorkable... See full review

Hitoribocchi no OO Seikatsu

May 14, 2019

This is probably the perfect antithesis to WataMote. I am 6 episodes in, and I just love this series (and of course I am also reading the manga on the side). It is painfully accurate accurate with how social anxiety sometimes feels like, and Bocchi's reactions with interacting with others, especially that one time I changed elementary schools. The initial premise of the show is when Hitori Bocchi goes to a new middle school, she tries to befriend her class to keep a promise she made with her childhood friend, who was attending another school. I mean, I get that she needed to wane her since she was... See full review

WATATEN! an Angel Flew Down to Me

Feb 20, 2019

College student meets and falls in "love" with her younger sister's friend. Okay. So, this was made by the same studio that released UzaMaid a year ago, and it does show. For starters, I don't have much issue with the main plot namely because it's a show. It doesn't mean that it's suggesting that actual cases of pedophilia are funny. The show makes it clear that there is an inherent creepiness towards that concept, and it never gets to the same extent that UzaMaid did when it used Lolita as its main schtick. With that out of the way, what do I think of the show? Let's start with the... See full review

UzaMaid!

Nov 11, 2018

While trying to catch up with Bloom into You, decided to give this one a look. The show is called My Maid is too Annoying! Well…more like My Maid Has a Lolita Complex, Call the Police! So the series concerns a young girl named Misha Takanashi, a half-Russian girl. Misha had become a recluse of sorts after the death of her mother, and she had the tendency to scare off potential maids by doing things such as burning the laundry; leaving banana peels everywhere. This changes when a 28-year-old woman named Tsubame Kamoi decides to take the job. The problem? Kamoi has a particular interest in young girls... See full review

Dropkick on My Devil!

Sep 22, 2018

Another series I had been watching is called Dropkick on My Devil! This anime concerns a lamia by the name of Jashin who was a "evil goddess" that was summoned by a young woman named Yurine. Displeased by this, Jashin spends a duration of the anime trying to find ways to end Yurine and return to Hell. Unfortunately for her, Yurine has a wide array of different weapons all of which she is adept at using to punish her. ... See full review

Happy Sugar Life

Sep 22, 2018

Final Thoughts on Happy Sugar Life: So what anime is there that is probably more fucked up than Citrus? Well, a recent anime that had come out is named Happy Sugar Life, which is anything but. I swear, out of a lot of the shows I had watched thus far this year, this show is without any doubt the most disturbing thing I had ever watched. Based on a psychological horror manga, Happy Sugar Life is about a high schooler named Satou Matsuzaka who puts on a façade of politeness when it comes to her work. Initially she was believed to have been pretty easy-going, claiming that she had relationships with... See full review

Blend S

Apr 12, 2018

One anime I had watched last year was called Blend S. It is about a 16-year-old girl named Maika who is hoping to get a part-time job so that she can earn enough money to study abroad. She comes from a traditional Japanese family, as in a VERY traditional Japanese family, but she eventually got bored by it. The only issue? Maika has the misfortune of having a naturally scary looking look in her eyes. After searching for a job here and there, she winds up working at a restaurant named Stile which is managed by an Italian man named Dino who is an uber otaku. He immediately takes a liking for her because of... See full review

Citrus

Jan 21, 2018

So, let's talk Citrus. Currently watching this anime series alongside Yuru Camp. In short, Citrus originally began as a manga series written by Saburouta, and premiered earlier in January. The show concerns a young girl named Yuzu Aihara. She is your typical flashy girly girl who'd rather concentrate on boys than her schoolwork. Eventually, Yuzu's mother gets remarried, and they both move to a new neighborhood. Yuzu discovers that the high school she had been transferred to is an overly conservative, with even the use of her cell phone being prohibited. This gets her into conflict with the student council... See full review

Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid

Aug 10, 2017

While I don't really watch anime much, I found myself liking this one. Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid is an anime series distributed by Kyoto Animation. The series revolves around  a young woman named Kobayashi, a programmer working for a coding company. After an especially grievous work day, Kobayashi goes out to drink; following a couple rounds, Kobayashi finds herself in the forest where she discovers a dragon. The dragon had a sword thrust in its side; despite the dragon's warning that attempting to remove the sword would drive her insane, Kobayashi successfully removes it, which the dragon interpret...
