Log Horizon: Destruction of the Round Table
Apr 13, 2021It started out pretty solid, with some interesting advancements to the plot, it was never as good as Season 1 but I wasn't really expecting it to be at this point. Unfortunately by the 2nd half of this season it shows that it has not learned any lessons about why people thought Season 2 was a big decline. I don't know why they insist on focusing on the kids so much, especially the cringey crushes. This show is much more interesting when Shiroe is on screen, and/or when it focuses on the politics and worldbuilding, or actually advances the major plot points and wrestles with the humanity of people who were transported into a game. I was hoping it would go back to those points more after a mostly disappointing Season 2, but no, it seems like its totally content to just continue its transformation into another generic show. Really unfortunate as Season 1 really is one of my favorites!

"I don't know why they insist on focusing on the kids so much" this sums up perfectly the trash that the 3rd season was.
I watched the first season of Log Horizon because Shiroe was amazing, and he had some really great characters with him. The kids in the first season served their entire purpose (weak little shits that need help), and that was over.
Then, the second season comes, and the little shits get more time but it was well done up to the incredibly stupid final arc of S2, anyone that has ever played any MMO in his life, will know that some lvl 50 kids with 0 experience will NEVER be able to contribute ANYTHING in a 90+ lvl high difficulty dungeon, BUT the stupid kids HAD to be important, so they forced some incredibly stupid stuff to make it happen.
Then, the third season started. They wasted 5-6 episodes with the stupid arc at the start, then some good episodes (even if somewhat stretched) with the main characters, and then all the shit they could ever think of to make the useless side characters important happened.
I dropped this shit after the trash episode 10, this was easy one of the worst piles of garbage I have watched in the last 3-4 years (4/10). I will NEVER go back to Log Horizon again, the third season ruined the entire thing for me.
