A disappointment
While I loved Kuroshitsuji as an ill-dressed, unhygenic "proud otaku" in my middle school days, I can safely say that even years later, I still can't see this installation into the Kuroshitsuji series with any redeamable qualities. Given that it was written at the last minute due to the fans going ape shit over realizing that Ciel would not be in the original script, I can't say I'm surprised at how convoluted this became. The new characters are by far the biggest dissappintment, it was hard to sympathize with them and some acted so out of place I often forgot I was watching a historical fiction. The whole plot felt so garish and serpentine that I often felt that there was no real reason any of the events had to happen. Thank God for A-1 Pictures and contribution to bringing the actual manga material to fruition, with much more well organized and less confusing plot.
