The characters in these stories are pharmacists, herbalists, and apothecaries: people who specialize in making and/or dispensing drugs, herbs, or potions to patients to cure ailments. Pharmacies, hospitals, and drugstores are common settings, although some characters may travel peddling their wares, make house calls, or work in a more exotic location, such as a fantasy world or a royal palace.
