Attack on Titan

Nov 14, 2020

Full review of the series (Seasons 1 - 3), No Spoilers, TL;DR by the end of Season 3 it is an 8.5/10
Prefix:
Seven years, it has been more than seven years since Spring 2013 when Attack on Titan first started airing, and as someone who started watching the series when it first started, I remember vividly how season one took the world by storm, not just among anime communities, but so many people were brought in to this world of anime because of Attack on Titan, and now in Winter 2020, the beginning of the end of a journey that has taken almost a decade to end, is finally upon us. At the... See full review

There are no spoilers in this review, so if you want to read it, go for it

After not having more than 3 hours of sleep each day for the past week and a half because of finals, I finally have gotten some free time to catch up on anime, with me eventually narrowing it down to either me finishing Kabukichou Sherlock, or me watching Smile Down the Runway, so thank you @totti2k2 @Lorealalal!! and @N.E.C.C. on Kitsu... A Certain Magical Index III

Nov 6, 2020

-
Unpopular opinion: But season 3 of Index is not only the best season of Index so far, but is the best installment in the entire anime franchise thus far (other than Railgun T), and I genuinely do not understand why this season gets so much hate.

Prefix:
I just want to preface this post with that I watched this installment for the first time as a part of the chronological rewatch I did to help me make the Railgun/Index infographic I made and posted last week. So that might be the main reason why a lot of this season did not seem convoluted to me, (to be fair honestly most of Index... See full review

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind

Nov 6, 2020

So it has taken me quite some time to finally get back around to this goal, but I am finally back again to try and finish every Ghibli movie I missed when I was a kid, which is honestly all of them except for Ponyo, this time around I am back to talk about Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. I’ve known for some time now that the next Ghibli movie I would embark to watch would be their very first feature film, and after almost 40 years, I still think it holds up quite well, and honestly a lot better than some of their later films. Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind has a lot of similarities... See full review

Durarara!! X2 The Third Arc

Nov 6, 2020

-
So finally after years of trying, I have finally found the time in my schedule to be able to re-watch all of Durarara (English Dubbed) to finally complete a story that I left unfinished for years, and that I started almost a decade ago, and honestly guys, I loved every minute of it. Durarara is one of those shows that you cannot just pick up halfway into the series after not watching it for years, because most likely you will be completely lost within the ocean of details this story drowns you in. This entire story is almost dependent on you understanding what the 50+ characters are doing... See full review

Interspecies Reviewers

Nov 6, 2020

-
I know this is a bit premature since I have not technically finished everything from this year yet…. but

I genuinely feel that Interspecies Reviewers was the best anime for Winter 2020 that I had the pleasure to watch (that wasn't a sequel) with it easily also already being in my Top 5 for this year, and I never thought those words were ever going to come out of my mouth, especially when I first started this anime. Something about this anime is just so entertaining to watch, from characters who had more backstory and charisma than they ever would need in this type of show, to comedic... See full review

This isn't a film, it is an experience.
Calling this a "movie" I feel in a way is misleading, because in a classical sense all the hallmarks of a movie are not present in this “film”, there is no overarching plot, no antagonist, no three-act structure, no obvious threat, no beginning, no clear ending, and, no lesson learned by the end of the film, which is why really to me this wasn’t a “film” but more an experience. A sort of window into what it is like to be a child filled with innocence and wonder for what the world has to offer.

(Here are my final thoughts/RANT on this series, TL;DR - It is trash)

Wow, so, have you guys ever had that experience where you go look at an anime’s page and think ”wow that’s a really low score, but the show couldn’t actually be that bad, right?” so you give it a shot, and after the first 2 or 3 episodes, you think “ok, this is pretty bad, but it’s not as bad as the rating implied” but then you get to a point in the series and you realize “HOLY FUCKING SHIT, no, this really is as bad as the rating implied, I didn’t think it could... Prefix (No Spoilers):
So, for the path couple of months ever since this movie came onto my radar I have been dragging my feet to watch it, because I just didn’t think this movie was right for me, and if it was really worth watching wouldn’t it be more popular? But boy was I wrong. This film is some of the saddest most heart-wrenching anime shit I have seen in my entire life, the amount of emotions this movie makes you feel in such a short amount of time is an accomplishment in it of itself. (There are a few minor spoilers included in this review, but nothing major or specific about the plot, the characters, or the world)

Prefix:
I went into this anime completely blind, I did not watch any of the trailers, I did not really read any of the general reactions to the series, all I knew before stepping into this world was that it is made by trigger, and that the dub is really good, that is all I knew, and while I was a bit nervous after watching the train wreck that is Darling in the FranXX, I was pleasantly surprised by this overall upbeat story about accepting... FAIR WARNING, I didn’t really like this movie, so the MAJORITY of this is going to be me highlighting what I didn’t like, so if you don’t want to hear criticism about this movie, don’t read this

The Positives:
First let’s start positive, what did I like about this movie? honestly not much, but there were a few things, 1st.) the animation in this film is breathtaking, like honestly ever since Free showed how beautiful water animations could be, anytime a story uses water as one of its main characters I’m usually pretty into it, because of how... Nov 5, 2020

-
Ok so I just finished Hinamatsuri, and before I say anything I first what to give a big shout out and thank you to @ Erik_The_Red on Kitsu for tipping me off to this gem before this season started.

Because this anime has been one of the funniest and most consistently funny animes I have ever seen, and I especially want to stress the CONSISTENT part because usually in comedy anime, in my experience, the stick or running joke gets old pretty quick, and it is just dull by the halfway point of the show. But this anime continuously kept being funny, always throwing in new jokes each episode... See full review

Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms

Nov 5, 2020

-
There are no major spoilers in this review, however there are some structural details of this film that I do discuss in general term without mentioning any plot specifics details, if you are fine with that, I recommend you read this before watching the film so you know what you are getting into.

So, I have finally gotten around to watching Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms, and honestly I’m really disappointed that I was not sadder by the end of this film. If I had to boil down my main complaint about this film, it is that it focuses more on the ideas it is portraying... See full review

The Majority of this has NO SPOILERS, and I tell you in advance in the one part I talk about them

I’ll just start off by saying that this is easily so far the anime of the year for me and I’m probably going to give it a 9.5/10 because everything about this series was phenomenal.

Prefix:
There is so much I love about this series that I genuinely don’t know where to start, I went into this anime with very low expectations, knowing the history of anime-only series, and how more often then not, they devolve into mediocre time wasters. But I am... See full review

I don’t really know what to say, this is easily one of the funniest anime I have ever seen, when people say this show is like Nichijou but without limits, they are serious. What makes this series so funny is the constant changing of tones, one moment this will be an innocent story about teenage girls finding their way through life, and the next it will be a vulgar example of dirty humor, really nothing is off-limits for this show, and I love that so much. Plus, the complete range of animation styles implemented in this show really just had me rolling on the floor anytime they would do one of... See full review

Of Course, There Are NO Spoilers In This Review

Prefix:
Wow, just wow, it truly is crazy to me just how much a series can improve with just one additional season, but this show truly exemplifies this fact. Because I remember when I finished season 1 last year and thinking this show was just okay, not a complete waste of time, but nothing special either, there was just so much wrong with season 1 that I honestly couldn't recommend it to anyone if they asked me about it. However, now at the end of season 2, I can firmly say that I am genuinely looking forward to a season 3 whenever... See full review

I have never really been into Idol anime, I have seen them pop up every now and then in the seasonal charts since I have been watching anime for some time now, but I have never felt the need to go out of my way to watch them. This is some of the weirdest shit I have seen in my entire life, and that is all you really need to know before jumping into this series. Seriously this anime from beginning to end feels like the author of Alice in Wonderland decided to up their hallucinogenic doses by at least 1000%, and when it was finally allowed to be made into a cartoon Disney wasn't around to cut out the not safe for work pieces. To be clear, I don't just mean weird as in like “oh this show is pretty unique”, I mean like our main protagonist is a fucking buff guy with a lizard head, whose main hobby is beating the... Prefix:
Have you ever taken just one look at a series and I knew there was something special about it? That without even knowing the plot, the narrative themes, the characters, or really anything at all, you could tell there was something intrinsically interesting about an idea? That is how I feel about Land of the Lustrous. This is a series that somehow merges the complex and the simplistic, while it examines complex philosophical ideas and deep-rooted mysteries within its plot, at the same time this is a series about something simple, family, and to what extent the bonds of family can... TL;DR: Not a bad anime, just, unfortunately, the only reason you should watch this is for the aesthetic.
Intro:
Guys, I really wanted to like this show more, from the trailers you might expect a rich intriguing mystery surrounding ghost and other supernatural phenomenon (at least I did), but unfortunately, that is not really what you get here. Of course, these are aspects the narrative tries to incorporate, but ultimately it is significantly brought down by an entire cast of characters who stay just as one-note as they begin, and by a plot that is so disorganized as it randomly... Weathering With You

Oct 17, 2020

Summary of my thoughts with NO SPOIELRS: Weathering With You is yet another love story done by the creator of Your Name, and like Your Name, this film has gained a wide audience for good reason. However, I personally thought the film was just fine, with me not really finding it anywhere near as emotional as many others are hyping it up to be. But if you are just looking for a nice love story to watch, you can’t go wrong with watching this. There are definitely many parts in this film that I did not like, but I would recommend it to you if you are interested in watching another... See full review

Full Review For The Series, NO SPOILERS

I am a bit late to finally finishing this series, and God damn guys, this show is probably one of the most balls to the walls action series I have seen in the last few years, with it really calling back to the dark, brutal, “think with your fist” type of anime that were pretty popular during the mid to late 2000s. This series seriously has Black Lagoon / Gungrave / Speed Grapher / Devil May Cry / Darker than Black vibes, and I am 100% here for it. It really felts like this series would be right at home in the late night Tonami block smack... See full review

Bravo👏👏👏 This anime to me is the definition of the phrase “go above and beyond their expectations” because god damn for a show that I was initially really dragging my heels to start because of how cliche the first episode started, by the end of this series I actually found myself being impressed with how neatly this story was able to tie up all of its loose strings by the end, and was actually able to tell a complete story within just 12 episode (which nowadays is actually kind of rare). -

Don’t Worry There Are NO Plot Spoilers In This Review

So recently I decided to start watching Fairy Gone despite what the entire anime community was saying about it and I caught all the way up with the show in a single day, and I honestly don’t understand all the hate for this show. I mean don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying it is amazing but it isn’t the “Worst Anime of the Season” that a lot of people were making it out to be. Kiki's Delivery Service

As my ongoing quest to complete all the Ghibli movies that I missed as a child continues, I have finally knocked another one off the list, that being Kiki’s Delivery Service and I loved it. Even though I personally still don’t like it more than Howl’s Moving Castle, it has easily shot up to 2nd place for just it’s complete heartwarming an innocent story. The movie does not have some grand overarching plot like most conventional movies have, it is truly all about the journey that Kiki is on of self-discovery to find what kind of witch (and person) she is going to be in life. So just like that, after 23 long weeks, we have finally reached the end of the road, and honestly guys, I couldn’t be any happier. This show, from beginning to end, was one of the most satisfying sport animes that I have seen in a long time. Like the last time I enjoyed a sports anime this much was probably Haikyuu, but unlike Haikyuu, this show actually has a satisfying ending, there are no cliffhangers, there are no little tease to the possibility of there being a continuation, the story is closed, and I am completely 100% OK with this fact. Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online

Who would have thought that the best way to fix the Sword Art Online franchise was to get rid of the entire cast, keep just the world, and instead fill it with entirely new characters, I didn’t, and I didn’t think they would actually do it, but they did it with this show, and it actually really paid off imo. This show was a lot of fun to watch and was easily the best installment in the entire Sword Art Online franchise thus far, and except for the random moments where HER GUN HAD A VOICE AND TALKS I liked every minute of this show. -

Okay, so I just finished one of Netflix’s new animes called B: The Beginning and I feel like this show is just a big mixed bag of edgy bullshit. Now don’t get me wrong, I really like edgy shows, in fact at first I really liked this show because it gave me really hard Darker Than Black vibes. With me being able to forgive the one or two scene that were just dumb levels of edgy bullshit, but by episode 6 it just lost me, because of all the dumb shit, and here is the scene where I just had to jump ship.  😂😂😂WHAT😂😂😂 SHUT THE FUCK UP, did this...
