AngelBeatsYui says... Wishing you happy holidays as well Sia, sorry I'm a bit late on wishing everyone a good xmas but here I am anyway. Hmm, the problem is with me coming back to welcoming is the chance of me having time, especially over the next few months I'm going to be extremely busy and I've just welcomed people when I have time which is hardly ever really. But I mean I can give it a try again XD
No, truly no pressure! I want you to come back to doing welcomes, of course I do, but come back when things aren't so hectic, and you aren't so busy. That way you can enjoy doing them and have fun! Just get back to me when that happens.
Hope your holidays have been happy (mine have!) and that 2017 turns out to be a good year for you!
Oh I see, I guess ur kinda like me then :P
Sure its more than fair for me to start :)
Well I mean we haven't been in regular conversation for god knows how long, so I'll just give u kind of a summary of the last few yrs, and feel free to ask about whatever u like ^_^
So yeah once I graduated college and then grad school after that, I was home for a few months before I eventually find a job working for the State public health dept in Connecticut. That much at least I figure ur up to speed but doesn't hurt to start there. So yeah, that was never really a dream job for me, it was more of a timing thing and just trying to get myself out there in the workforce rather than being too picky upfront. So I mean it was good experience in that sense, but I was never a public sector guy. I mean the stuff we were doing wasn't really true engineering work, mostly like construction admin we call it, which basically means a few site visits and a mess of paperwork and regulations haha.
So almost immediately I was looking for other opportunities, and as luck would hav it I did find something in less than 6 months which is great. So I was able to find my 1st true engineering job in private consulting w/ a small-medium size firm out of their Texas office. It was definitely a huge improvement in general lifestyle being in a big city like Dallas, so I was generally a lot happier. But it wasn't the best company, and our office in Dallas was really small so there wasn't a ton of opportunities, so things went well the 1st few months, but after that I realized it wasn't something I was willing to commit to long-term either. But I was there about a yr and all and at least this time I was getting some real experience. But due to certain circumstances which I won't go into atm, I ended up resigning f/ my position. Fortunately, I had already been having plenty of interviews in the months leading up to that, and I was able to find a new job back in my home state of New Jersey within a month. Suffice it to say, it was the right call haha.
So yeah that's where we're at now, I'm working w/ a much larger consulting company out of their main office, I've been here since May and really its such a stark contrast in the level of opportunity I hav here. I'm learning so much more, and I don't feel like I'm held back since we hav all the resources at our disposal. I mean overall this place is just a ton more organized and professional which is exactly what I wanted all along. Its not perfect, but lets face it not job it. The point is I'm doing good honest work, I hav a fairly reasonable work-life balance, and I'm getting paid fairly and well on my way to progressing my career. I should be in line for my professional engineering exam by the end of next yr to get my license.
So yeah those r the major life events at least :)
No girlfriends or anything like that to speak of I'm afraid haha
But I'm taking it one step at a time
How about u? ^_^
Yes ur right, for me too :(
I'm so sorry *hug*
I just try not to bother u so much, its not like I forgot about u :)
I hope u don't mind...
But I'm always happy to reconnect *hug* ^_^
OMG you've gotten older :O
When did this happen!?! o_o
Hi there Yui-chan, long time :)
Just wanted to stop by to wish u a very Merry Xmas *hug* ^_^
