Hey Air,

Sorry about the late reply. Succinctly put, everything is wrong with Nerawareta. It has no redeeming features. The dialogue is pseudo-pretentious gobbledegook, the art relies way too much on sakura blossoms and warm honey-coloured light as if it's desperately trying to be a KyoAni work, and the plot is shambolic. It was utter pants. It is based on a super famous novel in Japan, which, like The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, is meant to pop up every generation in a new medium. So if you want to know what it's really  meant to be about, see if you can get the novel to read.

Knowing about a site with something like this would've been pretty useful ten years ago. Discovering anime only to stare at a list of indiscernable Japanese tites was a bit overwhelming. Now you have sites like this, a bevy of those recommendation charts and a host of other resources. And still there seems to be so many people taking their first steps into the fandom and facing that same reality: "Where do I start?"

Although it gets substantially easier the more you watch, doesn't it? You find favorite studios, directors, animators and so on. It's a nexus that just keeps expanding. It's why the encyclopedia aspect of such sites is so critical. With just a click, there's an instant ability to see how the web is connected. But it's still the personal recommendations from those you know that seem the most prescient.

Ah. That might be the only thing that would blunt Eiken's onslaught of awful. Was the idea akin to a "bad movie night?" I've never known anyone to watch Eiken out of sincere optimism.

Thank you kindly for the suggestions. That reassurance alongside a near boundless faith in Kiyohiko Azuma have me ever the more anticipating Right Stuf's finally shipping the volumes out here. And heeding your warning, I suppose Twin Spica will have to be next. I'm afraid I wouldn't presently be of much help for returning manga suggestions, but if ever you want anime suggestions, you need only ask.

Hey, I noticed you're watching Chaos;Head and your reviews are usually pretty trustworthy, so you'll have to let me know how it is when you're done. ^_^

I appreciate the warm welcome.

I don't yet know about "helpful," admittedly. A-P has been a site I've been aware of but never quite looked into. It doesn't seem poised to be my anime listing site of choice (although it's possible I just don't yet know how to do what I want to do), but it's not like I use AniDB for its anime listing purposes, either.

"Ace?" Oh my, I'm not quite used to people expressing positive sentiments about my taste. You've rather respectable taste yourself, even if I'd personally hold that any rating for Eiken higher than the lowest possible on a given scale is a rating that's too generous.

I'll hope you're right about that manga matter, considering I just purchased a few off that list. Not to be imposing, but is there any in particular you'd recommend prioritizing?
